This is awesome, Mike! I am from China, and the lamb kebab is called “羊肉串” back home。It's an awesome street fare after dark, better served with cold beer. We cook this backyard BBQ all summer.
I met a woman online and traveled to China to meet her while there I had some of the best food I have ever tasted and now watch your show here on YT, I love the way you present yourself and the food you try or cook, many of them I try to make my self, one thing I am looking forward to is the tea eggs, if you are ever in Texas look me up and we will go find some good food here also or I will cook you some Crappie which is the best fish you can ever eat, and maybe you can recommend some ideas for cooking it also, keep up the good work I still have many episodes to catch up on !!!
So, I subscribed to your channel! Both your personalities are natural and great on screen. Great content! Really enjoy your videos! Here in SA there are not really many of these stands to choose from, but, I find great Chinese take out restaurants! :-D
I am so psyched you guys are doing this, there is so much in Queens that nobody is covering. I didn't get to Uncle Zhou's yet but I'm definitely going. Now I have a second place. Mike and Dan - Queens culinary experts!! Love this!
I shouldn't have ignored the warning. About to go to sleep now and I was hungry already. XD But it looks good! Skewers with meat are quite common where I live, but this good.. I wonder if you can even find it o.O You probably can, I just don't know where yet.. (I hope) But really nice vid =D
Just had dinner (Yay for Chinese broccoli, pork, and shrimp!) and now I'm hungry again...... Wish we have good places in NC, there's not really a lot of good Asian places in Greensboro.
HHHHHH LOVE THIS SO MUCH!!!!!!! The thing is crazily popular in China.. The Chinese BBQ genre gets reallllllly extended a lot in China u could so many different types of Chinese BBQ!!! I'm going to NYC to try this!!!
The Chinese character chuan4 串 looks like a kebab or a skewer, food on a stick, ( 串烧 ) The Japanese word for those is kushiage 串揚げ (Japanese being my "stronger suit")
Great video as always! Please show us the best Dim Sum place in NYC and what to order, I would love to try but have no idea what to do give us some guidance pleeeease :^)
one of my favorite ,i remember when i was young my city use to have a whole street is all about the lamb kebab ,so good so good!! just ordered the grill and the skewers .. so i can enjoy it soon !!!!!
This was entertaining for reasons of tasty looking food and nostalgia. Chicken gizzards! Oh, I love me some chicken gizzards. You can't make proper dressing to go with a roasted chicken or turkey without dicing up the organ meat and throwing it all in a pan with butter and a crapload of diced up onion and celery first. Gizzards might have an odd bit of crunch, but they're delicious. I moved across the country, and now I'm glad we're planning to move back to the midwest because the grocery store meat here is ever so tame. They have better fish, but nothing adventurous. I never did get up the nerve to actually try a pickled pig's foot from the jar sitting atop the meat counter, and I very much miss being able to get cheap pickled herring as well as lots of chicken gizzards for literally about a dollar a pound. So inexpensive. It might be considered the leftover bits that no one wants....but that just means more delicious crunchy gizzards for me, at a crazy good price. Also I just noticed you posted this video on my birthday three years ago! About a month after I moved to Michigan from Nebraska.
Disappointed w/ Dan about the gizzards. I loved gizzards before I knew they were gizzards (and my parents called it chicken kidneys when I asked them what it was...probably because they didn't know what the english translation was). If you like the taste and texture of a food, there's really no other excuse to not like it (maybe smell, but that doesn't apply to gizzard lol). Mike should learn to give Dan things to try w/o telling him what it is first...Oh that can be a new show series! "Dan's blindfold taste test" or something XD Get him out of his comfort zone!
MIKE!!!! I saw you on a TV commercial for "Cutthroat Kitchen"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited to see you when you're on the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope you won!!!!!!!
Almost three years in the US, had my first lamb skewer in Flushing. As a former professional BBQer (I used to run a BBQ stand when I was in TW), I am going to try every single BBQ stand in NY. Muahahaha!
WOW DUDE I JUST FOUND OUT THAT YOU LIVE HERE! I LIVE HERE ALSO AND I LOVE THE CART, but this was 1 year ago so idk if you still live here please reply!
RIght?! Gizzard is amazing, it's like the part everyone fights for when we have a good chicken soup! Most of the time the elders give it to the younger ones as if it was some kind of tresure of the chicken.
"Organs are meat" "No..they're not" hahahahaha. Nice vid. Street BBQ is something I eat 5 times a week. I literally just ran out for some sour Thai sausages. I live in Thailand though so BBQ is everywhere I go. Love it.
Chinese BBQ is amazing. I had some in Shanghai like 2 weeks ago and I was just like, "This place is AWESOME." It was pretty cheap too, 60 yuan a person for an all you can eat.
oh, I used to eat there very often it was so good.. until the owner changed and then it is not that good anymore. But later I found another much better Chinese BBQ in that area around Grand Ave~>w
Gizzards are a muscle-arrangement that surround the crop. When you see birds eat grit or small rocks, they're using the gizzard muscles to grind their food in the crop with the rocks/grit acting like teeth/impellers to grind-up the food. Best dark meat on a bird. There's very tough ligaments that don't break-down easily, but it is easy to eat the muscle and leave the ligament if you don't like it. When I fix gizzards, I trim the ligament off, and save it for chicken stock. Goes great with chicken-feet.
You guys should cover other types of Asian food. There is a Malaysian restaurant next to Hong Kong supermarket called Taste Good. Taste Good got the best Malaysian food in Elmhurst. If you guys go I can recommend a few dishes that you guys would like.
lol I was reading that warning saying to myself: pshhhh, I can handle some meat. I'll be fiiiine~ But nope. No, this was a bad thing for me to do, now I feel a need for skewers and it's 4AM. About your menus: I like the "boring and safe" food like Dan :P
Strictly Dumpling my mom often makes braised chicken gizzard/stomach/liver and it's delicious!! It's an aquired taste. I used to not like it but now I love it!
Strictly Dumpling Just my opinion but yup ^_^. If you have the chance, please stop by Brooklyn Chinatown (around 8th ave) and try them. They usually open around evening and have around 5-6 different stands.
I love chicken gizzards, hearts and livers of all kinds and beef tripe and I'm not Chinese ;). But not a fan of kidneys, lungs and brains. And Mike is right - gizzards are meat.
All of those items on the menu look great except the heart. I'm not a big fan of heart, but I'll eat it if I have it. And Dan! You're in JH? I just moved out of JH back to my childhood neighborhood LES.
lol, Mike is such a peer pressure foodie! "Try the gizzard, Dan. EAT IT NOW."
XD You two are really funny.
Haha. I fall in love with the look you eat the skewer! You really have a passion for it.
This is awesome, Mike!
I am from China, and the lamb kebab is called “羊肉串” back home。It's an awesome street fare after dark, better served with cold beer.
We cook this backyard BBQ all summer.
I love everything Mike likes to eat. Now I'm hungry.

Oh man I love those, I agreed with you in most of the food you have mention from all videos mike
I only watch this show when I'm eating. Almost feel like I'm not all by myself having lonely meals. And also because it's a torture otherwise
Eva Nguyen SAME
Gizzards are the bomb....Dan needs to try them. Mike You and I share similar food tastes...pickled pigs feet are great! Ate them since I was a kid.
Dan is the Best! A man after my own tastes. No organs! But lamb is great, just too damn expensive down here.
Thanks for the video Mike
Rod

The metal skewers with thin meat is the best.
I had it in wudang, hubei

That gizzard looks *amazing*. Do they not do liver? Is it too soft and crumbly to skewer?

One of the best Thai places is across the street, Chao Thai
