My favourite thing about this sketch is the way the contestants are frozen in place while Lloyd Grossman floats towards them. I like to think the reason this sketch is so funny is because it's also really, really, really scary.
26 years since I first watched this, And I’ve watched (and laughed) many times since…. It was only yesterday I learned that ‘Joan Baptiste’ was played by Morwenna Banks.
How many of us first saw this clip without context? I did and it was so surreal that it was disturbing. But, BBC MasterChef looked like this in the pre-Gordon Ramsay era. There are still a few episodes with host Loyd Grossman here on YT; it makes more sense if you see the actual program
I remember Vic and Bob being pretty silly on the telly when I was a kid and didn't think much of it, just like a 90s "lol". Im now nearly 37 and seen a whole different side 😆
"And i didn"t make your stupid dinner cry" 1995. Man I'm old. Had this on VHS dvd and almost wore it out. Parents bought it for me after my love for Shooting Stars.

I have never seen this video or heard of this show at all before, but when I saw that guy floating around while creepy bells toll in the background I immediately added it to my "favorites" playlist

My wife's daughter has been watching the current series of Married at first sight. The bells playing at this series, reminds me of this sketch. How ironic. Nightmare dream from a nightmare series. Marriages doom at first sight.
Loved this because I loathed MasterChef and all of it's smugness. Now we have a whole Saturday and Sunday morning's television aimed at cookery. Vic and Bob gently jabbing at the tedious bollocks.....
What's with the incessant cooking lark on TV? Cooking is an essential life skill, so I understand why it's featured, but the sheer volume of it is unnecessary.
I love the insane humour of this, and have watched it many times, and yet I just noticed the funny names for the production crew at the end. I was going to send it to my daughter but she wouldn't get half the funny bits on Grossman.
Its just so strange and completely off the wall, but it's one of the funniest sketches I've ever seen. They are like Morecambe and Wise on acid. The other sketch with Mulligan and O'hare.. utterly absurd and complete nonsense, but funny in its absurdity. I got into them as a young teenager and I used to live for Wednesday nights on Channel 4, Big night Out was almost a cult like experience at school, because only a few of us really 'got it' at the time.
You can leave this sketch, but this sketch will never leave you.
True dat
Yes because it's going to be in your Recommends every couple of years like an old friend..
I probably quote this sketch at least twice a year.
@danthemanwhocancan5263 funny you say that...
When he lifts up and floats across with the bell ringing, its the stuff of nightmares!
Like Salem's Lot
Like the Buffy episode “Hush”.
Remember this sketch creeping me out when i was little
Jacob Marley (deceased)
I must be disturbed I thought that bit was hilarious xD
The sight of Vic floating through the air while a bell tolls lives rent free in my mind to this day.
This sketch will forever be one of the most bat shit crazy things I've ever seen on British TV
Hat's off to the costume designers as well
Or should that be hats on ?
And forks ..
And ...
What is this British TV series?!
Even by Vic and Bob's standards this is fucking surreal and in many ways quite disturbing. I remember it from 20-odd years ago.
It's quintessentially Vic & Bob, and Matt Lucas and Charlie Higson too
this sketch really freaked me out as a 6 year old lol

I really want an explanation on how this sketch is 'relevant' to anything, it's side splittingly funny but.. it's a borderline fever dream 😂
I still use... "You're just a fakey cake maker & I ain't got time for you!!" to this very day.
It’s a perfect way to dismiss all the fakey cake makers one has to deal with.
Good to use in Shoe Shops 😁
Said it to my girlfriend the other day after she made a Betty Crocker cake. She didn't even laugh🤨

Lloyd Grossman as a Cenobite. Genius!

The genius of Reeves and Mortimer in one sketch. Gratifyingly disturbing.

Every time the bad guy in Dune floated, I thought of this sketch
Little did I know, when I first saw this, that it was destined for comedy greatness. But it's unforgettable.
This sketch will stick with me till the day I die. I never looked at Masterchef, or Loyd Grosman in the same way ever again.
I came here to find out if I really remembered it accurately, of if it was a fever dream from my misspent 20s
they do have alot of surreal sketches but this one really take the friggin shoe cake. part nightmare part pant pissingly hilarious
This is like the sketch came out of someone’s dream.
More like a nightmare.

I guess it takes all sorts. On a scale of 1 to 10 I'd give it a 3.

One of. The Smell of Reeves (and Mortimer) was a high point. I like Touch The Hutch, and of course Uncle Peter's band playing in the vase. Epic!
