I'm glad I'm not the only one who goes through crafting slumps. I'm just starting to get my mojo back. I've got 3 projects for a knit along in progress and I've lost steam...I have a desire to start something new, but just can't bring myself to do it. Maybe now that the NY weather is turning cooler I'll feel like getting my knit on again!
Another great episode! Have you considered combining the bead weaving with knitting at the cuffs, oohhhh bottom of a sweater. Your creative and smart I'm sure you'll figure it out!
Wow, your beading looks amazing! It’s hard to believe that’s easy to figure out, the loom and following a pattern, but I believe you! Time-consuming, but easy-my favorite kind of craft, lol! I was so shocked when you said that the Nora Gaughan Pom Pom issue was from 2018! I feel like it came out like two years ago, max. I remember that issue being so popular, and I remember when you started that gorgeous sweater. It was great to see it again and I enjoyed hearing where you are in the process, the little parts that might need adjusting, the yarn, etc. Love your videos!
Have you seen that Katie Green Bean is also working on her Nightingale sweater at the moment and it is beautiful too? I recently bought some Tohu beads from Ali-Express but have been too busy (and probably sick, I had Covid last month) to use them. I got a bead loom last year, but the beads I bought were not uniform in size so my first bracelet was not as flash as yours (shall we say). I love the Artist's way series as well.
Hi Kristin I'm happy to see you back, I really enjoy your videos!! I know what you mean by a schlump, been there myself and sometimes it just takes a small break to bring you back to sewing/crafting/knitting!!! The shawl looks gorgeous and that chevron one your working on looks fab too!!! Happy crafting and I hope you have a good week!!xxx
Knowing how you love quilting, thought maybe Florence Spurling's Scout Shawl might pump you up! Would be lovely in your yarn. Love your bead work! Blessings
@@TanisMakesStuff LOL I totally get what you mean, Tanis. 😂 Oh man, I need to look into this Moomin folk. I've seen their cartoons floating around the web. They look so cute! But have no idea what they're about.
@@Voolenvine you really must, I think you'll fall in love with them. There are several UA-cam channels devoted to them but if you have time to read the wiki character descriptions I think you'll see why they're so great.
You need to stop by Pick Up Every Stitch to get some inspiration back! We are on the train line you know-walkable from the Mt. Kisco stop! Feel you on the driving, as a fellow city kid. I didn't learn to drive until I found myself in the suburbs learning with a carseat in the back. But I'm sure you can do it too. Though not going to lie, still miss my subways and taxis.
Kristin stunning Nora gone 👍👏 love the bracelets especially the gold one you're right trying something else gives butterflies to the brain 🦋🦋 🤣 ... waiting next video !!! 🗼😄
I would highly recommend Bronzepony beading tutorials on youtube,. Stephanie is as masterful with beads as you are with your knitting. I alternate my crafting between knitting, crocheting and beading.
Don't worry about your nightingale. I followed the pattern but I really don't like where the sleeves are attached at the shoulders. It is to far from my shoulders and the puffed sleeves are hanging of my shoulders. I hope you get what I mean...when seaming your sleeves make sure you attache you shoulders where you want them to sit on your body and I think your "mistake" wil fall under the sleeve. Love your podcast and your creative rabbitholes🤗😉
Thanks so much, Suzanne! 💖🤗 And totally know what you mean about the sleeves. Yeah, I think I'm going to leave them alone... maybe the ribbing might take a bit of the volume.
i love your way of going through a creative slump. for me, my creative slumps are gone through by following my compulsions. that ends up with more WIPS being made, but it also ends up with me pulling out my UFOs and working on them. otherwise i just make a lot of mess LOL
On the Nightingale, I suggest blocking that piece and seeing haw it looks and the measurement. I have this pattern in my queue, but have not started yet, still looking for a yarn I like.
another fun show . . . . I would NOT rip out your sweater. That detail at the should will not matter . . . . it's everything else about the fabulous pattern. I'll be curious to see what you do 😉
I gotta ask - is there any chance you may put together kits for the Travel Mode 2.0 Shawl? I started one around the same time you did and I love the pattern and can see myself making more. I LOVE the colors you put together for yours!!!
I haven't tried bead weaving but I do beading. I might try that someday. The one you used the first time is Miyuki Delica but Miyuki also has a line of round seed beads. At the same time, Toho also has a cylindrical type of beads called the Aiko. Of course the Delicas are more popular but they are equally pretty good quality and very uniform.
20:16 This reminded me of the 7 year old stash of beads and crystals I have that I have to destash, lol. Maybe one of these 3 day weekends I'll set about doing something about that :D
My opinion is not to frog the sweater unless it is really really bugging you or if it throws off the fit. No one else will notice because #1 - they have no idea what the pattern is supposed to look like and #2 - they will be too busy oohing and aahing over the front and back pattern to notice anything else!
Have a look on UA-cam at bead weaving on a Mirrix loom. Clausius Chase who designed the Mirrix loom also did a Craftsy class some years ago on bead weaving on other looms as well as the Mirrix loom.
I love the bead weaving. I had a loom and beads in my Amazon cart for the longest time, but I never ordered them! Did you enjoy the Toho beads as much as the miyuki beads? I'll have to look at them and see the price difference. Purl Soho also carries kits with patterns.
Thanks, Angela! The Toho beads are pretty and work just as well, though, I prefer the flat, smooth, cylinder shape of the Miyuki. From what I've seen, Miyuki beads are around $5.99 for a small tube, whereas the Toho's are about $3.99. I didn't know Purl Soho carried kits. I'll have to check them out - I bet they're beautiful!
Your bead weaving projects are beautiful! I think I used to have one of those looms when I was young, and I recently attended a beading workshop to make an Orange Shirt pin... This is definitely something I'd like to try again!!

Yes, I have a couple of projects that need repairs or waiting for clarification so I went down the rabbit hole of junk journaling. I’m obsessed.

I love it when you say schlump, I like to think Schlump is the media-shy member of the Moomin family. Just me? Thought so.
Oh hang on, I'm absolutely not saying I enjoy you hitting a schlump. I wish you all the happy crafting.

Love the bracelet! Wear on your ankle! I have done that when a knitted bracelet I made was too big for my wrist.
Great idea, Jonelle. Thanks!!
Ha! I was going to suggest wearing the too-big bracelet in your bicep, Viking-style, but as an anklet is probably better 😂

@@Voolenvine Try Bobby Beads, Beadaholique or Eureka Crystal Beads. They carry a lot of colors of Aiko
I love my e bike!! I got a big basket for the back that pops off to go into shop lol. Beading looks fun!!!!
So next you'll combine cables & beads?

Ok you are inspiring me to cast that thing on. I really want to knit that beautiful nightingale sweater and I already have the yarn.
Dooo it! I mean ... everyone could use a Norah Gaughn masterpiece in their life. 😄

Subscribed!! Thanks for the recommendation, Johanna!
Cute with the Barbie comment! 😊
With your jumper, after you've attached the shoulders together, could you pick up stitches and do a few short rows to fill in that stockinette space?
That's a nifty idea, Fiona! Though, I'm concerned it might add too much depth to the shoulders 🤔

Will we see bracelets to match your sweaters? ☺️
Not a bad idea, Carolyn!
Wonder if you can use a knit graph as a bead pattern?
Absolutely! Some free printable templates are available online to create your own patterns, too!
Your bead weaving projects are beautiful! I think I used to have one of those looms when I was young, and I recently attended a beading workshop to make an Orange Shirt pin... This is definitely something I'd like to try again!!
Thank you! I say go for it!! It seems this loom is bringing back a lot of nostalgic memories for people 😄
I don’t think you need to rip out the twisted 4th that was supposed to be stockinette. I don’t think it’s that noticeable.
Dont rip the shoulder out! It is a design feature 😍
I wouldn’t rip the shoulder back. I don’t think it will be that noticeable.
Oh, don't rip out the twisted rib on your Nightingale, it's actually a beautiful mod that should stay!
You might want to check out Fire Mountain Beads as a source.
Oh, yes... I've been binging their channel. 🤪
i’m new here so i don’t know if it’s a joke or something but does she know she’s pronouncing mauve wrong?
Don’t rip, it looks good!
Would not rip out….no way…
