This guy on the phone clearly isn't familiar with the way that journalism works here in the UK. Lack of nuance and objectivity but plenty of outrage and hyperbole...
haha
"This guy on the phone"?? How can you pass comment & not even know who graham hunter is!!
"This guy on the phone" doesn't understand how UK journalism operates, says the guy who isn't even capable of reading the title of the video. 🤣
@@borachon26 think he was being sarcastic
@@check2000There's not a hint of sarcasm in his comment.
Graham shilling for Barca as per but he’s probably right. I hope Alex Crook AKA “the biggest grifter in football journalism” took his “muppets” comments personally as everything Graham said described what Crook has been saying for weeks.
He’s spot on about De Jong though, just doesn’t want to join United because they are shite.
Remember... Barcelona own themselves. Their debt is there own, uniteds debt is the Glazers debt, the glazers can sell United like Abramovich sold Chelsea, but Barcelona can't sell itself especially if its massively in debt, because you can't sell a debt to anyone who isn't going to asset strip. Barcelona are in huge trouble, make no mistake about it.
@@madebymonkeys5641 oh yeah totally. They are auctioning off their future stability and banking on short term success until what they think is an inevitable super league.
Can’t half tell Alex Crook is a Man Utd fan. He reminds me of when I was in high school and the stuff lads used to come out with.
Absolute fraud. They call him the transfer god? He steals stories from others and reports them as his own.
This black and white stuff in the start of the video... Please stop it
It really pisses me off! I’ve already clicked on the video to watch it. I don’t need to see the best bits which will be in it 5 seconds before the video starts.
Alex face is hilarious when he realizes he’s one of the muppets who never breaks any kind of news and gets his info off twitter
I bet crook doesn't even realize that this guy is talking about the likes ofhim, when he says there are Muppets reporting false information. Fair play to this guy for embarrassing the whole radio station in front of the internet community. 👏
I'm not disagreeing with everything you've said but Graham is defending Barca when the reality is they're being completely out of order in how they've treated De Jong, they owe him a lot of money and he's not the only one, a lot of players took a pay cut and are struggling to get what they are owed. Graham is lying on their behalf, makes you wonder
@@Harris08912 Did you not hear what Graham Hunter said? They haven't refused to pay the wages
@@muzaqqeermuzzhussain4530 he's lying, there have been multiple players who have struggled to get their money back

Danny listened, the others just read drivel. Great from Graham Hunter. Now, as a United fan - I’ve gone from 10% chance to 11% he’ll join.
Absolutely. The other two had an agenda and just asked the questions they had already prepared. I also think Danny knows these sort of transfer stuff happens because he has been there as a player.
Hear hear
He’ll join after world cup when Barcelona defaults, on a free, and get his debt made whole by a sign on fee. Or barcelona can take 14 million out of 70 that united is paying and let him go now. Since the “geniuses” are in charge at Barcelona now, it could go either way.
well said
Alex Crooks is a fool!
I’m more interested in knowing why they can buy these players without paying the wages that they OWE to present players.
They haven't paid what they owe because it's not due yet. It's been DEFERRED... until next year.
If I understand correctly, they could sign Messi or Ronaldo or whoever they like tomorrow and they have liquidity to do so via these deals mentioned. Where the block is they cannot play football as they cannot be registered, but you do not need to be registered as a player to be paid is the important part. These new signings are effectively on the payroll like any other member of the non playing staff.
Basically, it sounds like if de jong doesn't leave they are going to have a problem registering these other players by sounds of it, he knows this and his agent knows it so are leveraging the position to maximise the payout to leave. What hasn't been mentioned here- dejong doesn't have to accept less money to stay, but it sounds like he wants to play football and Barca are also trying to minimise their fiscal exposure so will probably offer him a new contract on reduced terms and he fights for his place.
There is another scenario here, dejong says I'm not signing a new contract and I'm staying, pay me as per contract agreement please. That will mean these other players signed may not be able to be registered if I have grasped all these moving parts correctly.
The players WAGES and the TRANSFER Budget are two different things, two different budgets.
If you ACTUALLY watch and follow La Liga matches and news you would know that unlike the Prem where you have clubs owned by Billionaires from all around the globe who can shell out money and salaries from their wealth uncontrolled, there is a FFP cap in La Liga salaries, that's why they can buy player's but can't pay RIDICULUS wages from the previous regime.
@@raptorheli2 There is a third lever in case he doesn't accept salary reduction.
@@jarveyjaguar4395 Very odd defense. No one is saying they can't get away with it, obviously they are... it just seems shady.

He's a hype man for Barcelona. It's nothing but propaganda.

To say Graham Hunter goes around the houses when answering a question is the understatement of the year.
Spot on. Been listening to him for years and it takes forever for him to get to the point!

I like this . At least someone who knows about Spanish football putting the clueless subjective media in their places . It is embarassing how the English media and fans dare to make judgements about other European clubs without doing their research first .

I agree it's great to hear more but Graham needs to take it down a notch. And actually, some of the 'reporting' is correct, which he accepted.
Thank you Graham!! Finally someone putting these clown pundits and reporters on their place. This is how you clear things up. Things we know already as we have been listening to Barca oulets. But of course the English outlets have been so ignorant, it's baffling

Barca outlets may be more willing to paint a rosier picture, mate. Barca is in huge trouble if they can't produce on the pitch. I hate Barca but they are a foundational club to world football so I hope they can right the ship for competition sake.

Hunter sounds like he has been briefed directly by laporta
For example Barca debt is not as manageable as united or Spurs with a lot more of it short term with higher interest, they owe a lot of money to outstanding transfer fees and player wages
As a Barcelona fan, this teaching lesson from Graham was delightful to watch
Yeah, Graham putting the record straight,
Sounds like absolute BS! So the club sign a player on a fee and contract, and now unless he sells then offer him less to stay? I dont see the positive side for the player. Id want my money i was promised by the club at signing, they choose to sign him on the terms to improve themselves no one had a gun to their heads to sign him, pay up. And i say that to any club, if you flash the cash you pay the consequences, the fees you agreed too. Im with the player and players on this. The clubs pay up or shut up. You sign, you pay. Id stay on my signed contract and get my money, end of until they pay up.
i just noticed that he pushes Barca promo codes and is generally an advertisement board for the club. Pure propaganda
@@philipcrewe540 Barcelona owns its self, United is owned by the Glazers. The Glazers can sell just like abramovic did with Chelsea. Barca can't sell its self, especially if it is in debt, only an asset stripper would take it on, and the selling fee would be £1 euro. Make no mistake, barca are in serious trouble. It just sold 600mil worth of TV rights for 200mil... that's stealing 400mil from a future president of the club, that is not sustainable, the talk sport panel are just too dumb to push back properly. Superb analysis by Graham Hunter on this subject. Very informative and refreshing, top man.
Thank you Graham because everyone in England think Franky wants to move to man the player is not convinced whether arrogant man u supporters are willing to hear that it up to them, but barca is in similar situations with many football clubs it's just that they are more transparent and they don't have ebramovich who can borrow them 1.2 billion. What a great interview
Refreshing to hear a completely different narrative. I’d love to hear a debate between the writer of the said article (Sam Wallace of the telegraph) and Graham.
It’s a completely idiotic argument the Scotsman is making for the second time on the radio.
No one is saying that having debt is the issue.
It is the scale of the debt and the fact the club can’t service the debt without resorting to selling future rights .
Clearly for a club of this size that is not a sustainable financial position.
How I miss Simon for such debates!

Barcelona can do no wrong apparently 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
@paw I believe they’re still a desirable place to go for footballers that’s not the point; people’s problem with them is how they’re affording everything and how they’re run
@paw you just sound like another one of these people who aren’t grasping the real problem and have your Barcelona blinkers on. Not paying players what they owe and wanting them to lower wages to let other players come in on high wages 🤣 selling their soul by selling off TV rights for next 25/30 years etc, clearly just hoping this super league comes around and bails them out, no?
@paw you’re the one who is sounding like an expert, at what point did I mention De Jong’s name when I said they owe people money? You sound like you’re in the ‘know’ though and clearly Barcelona are the greatest run club in the world. Did Messi stay or leave due to financial trouble the club was in? Please enlighten me I forgot or was there other issues just you know of? 🤷🏽♂️
Absolutely love this from Mr Hunter
One question ...why don't we get more of Graham hunter ..don't get me wrong I love the Premier league but unlike majority of presenter on talksport football and quality football at that does exist outside the Premier league
Wow that was a brilliant explanation I had no clue how they could afford all this signings
What does Graham Hunter actually say that we don't know already? Except that it's "normal" for Barcelona to sell parts of their TV and stadium naming rights to third parties (presumably giving up respective parts of their income in the future).
His point was that the UK press slating evil Barcelona for refusing to pay what is owed is a complete fabrication and that it's essentially business as usual
He brown noses Barcelona..end of
Yeah I don’t think he really answered the question about how they can spend so much money on new players but give players wage cuts.
That guy is a complete tool… he knows nothing just getting angry when asked reasonable questions

Graham hunter, putting the record straight, excellent video
Matterface and Crook were thinking are we the muppets. YES!
Need to have this conversation again
Ask Frenkie De Jong, he knows the answer, bro is still waiting for his paychecks. 😂
Love Grahams soothing tone,
Matters against logic:
1. De Jong wanting to stay at a club trying to kick him out since 2 months and meanwhile spending on big players.
2. De Jong rejecting a club dying to make him face of their new project for 2 months.
3. Ten Hag not knowing De Jongs deep intentions despite having personal contact with him for months.
4. Ten Hag making board spend 2 months agreeing a fee with Barca for De Jong without being assured of him being open to join.
5. Ten Hag happy to go on tour without a CM when not being sure if De Jong wants to even join.
Matters according to logic:
1. Barca trying to deprive De Jong his due wages while giving them to new players.
2. De Jong and his camp being firm on not wanting to leave until he gets that deferred wages.
3. Barca not being able to afford De Jong on their books beyond this window after signing expensive players.
4. Ultimately Barca and De Jong coming to an agreement regarding the deferred wages. Allowing the transfer to Man Utd. That way ALL THREE parties will be happy. Or else NO party will be happy. That's what makes it logical this deal SHOULD get over the line before deadline in September. Long way to go.
Well put 👌🏿
I very much appreciate the matter and logic association u did but one thing u missed is the reality of business negotiation and the nuances that come from it. This new board at Barça is drastically different to the previous one as their value the club over any players. Contrary to Bartomeu, Laporta has been categorical in maintaining the salary cap under a certain level. Contract renegociation are in progress with most players at the club, Dembele has taken a paycut of 40%, Lewandowski is getting $3m less than in Bayern, Raphinia is getting less than Dembele which u know wouldn't have been the case if he had signed with Chelsea. So of course they will expect the same with De jong. Why get themselves out of £17m when they can, one, agree with him on a salary reduction if he wants to stay (which he does) or simply have United cover that costs with the transfer fee. This is simply smart business and that's the only thing dat new board is doing rn. Visca Barça 🔵🔴
Yes. Thank you
Stupid logic, de Jong is one of the highest earners at the club reported next season salary above 20m with a transfer fee of 85m and a player that is not critical to barca sporting ideas so why would barca refuse to pay him 17m when the total savings is above 85m that is illogical Mr logic
@@spha863 That's exactly what I'm saying that by logic eventually that 17m issue will be resolved one way or another where all parties are happy allowing the move to be completed. Still a way to go until deadline day.
Love at the end the radio host is deflecting saying they have "read bits & pieces" it just goes to show they get their info from Google. Graham school Alex & how to be a truthful journalist. That is what your job really looks like!
Alex "they lack class" 😂😂😂wake up mate where have you been, does alex still believe in Santa too?
Because they aren’t Derby, Bolton or Bury…
They are FAAAR too big for anyone to DARE put them into administration…
Even though their levels of debt dwarf the combined debts of all three of those clubs…
@paw they still owe their current employees more than the value of those three clubs I mentioned... They cant even afford to pay their current players yet are still allowed to sign new ones...
I think youre being incredibly flippant about how some clubs are allowed to get away with this
@paw yes, but considering their "revenue and earning power", they shouldnt need to defer payments... Thats a cop-out so they can afford to still be competitive... They shouldnt have spent beyond their means in the first place... thats the whole point of FFP
@paw they will never pay off that debt... they should be wound up like Rangers were...
@paw "The UEFA Financial Fair Play Regulations (FFP) are a set of regulations established to prevent professional football clubs spending more than they earn in the pursuit of success, and in doing so not getting into financial problems which might threaten their long-term survival."
@paw Id say a debt of £1bn+ was a pretty significant "financial problem"... especially considering it was as a result of "spending more than they earn in the pursuit of success"
Thank God for this man....
Why? Using big words and not saying anything
Longer videos. Please and thank you.
Barca can afford players because they are not bankrupt, they have too abide by the new wage cap they can’t pay the money they’re not allowed it’s not that they don’t have it this guy is spot on
They are bankrupt but la liga and Uefa would never sanction Barca because their brand is to big. Barca are fucked financially
As a catalonian have to also ask how come real Madrid never pay their debts ? How come psg ,man City Newcastle can be run on blood money with dodgy sponsorship deals ,how come man utd don't pay their debt off .
Nobody else is anywhere close to the type of debt Barca are in. Barca are legitimately bankrupt. The situation is clearly much much worse than the Spanish media will admit. The fact they sold Messi is absolutely insane that tells you everything you need to know. They were about to collapse and Spanish football couldn’t afford to let that happen.
it's way worse, man utd massive debt, spurs massive debt, and so on and so on...
All of the top european clubs who have been competing on vanity by looking like the biggest club by spending the most on players and their wages are all basically bankrupt and exist purely on brand alone that has revenue streams that dont cover the outgoings but the brand continues tobe invested in
Where barca lost its way is losing barca players not having la masia players progressing into the team who knew exactly what the teams spirit and values are about
Man u is the same since the stopped bringing players through they have deteriorated, selling on academy players and never giving them a chance at first team, barca is looking to go back to that but right now…they are gambling on their future
The super league exposed that, barca real madrid, and the rest of the clubs exposed their need and greed for more money and the illusion of being separate to everyone else for a long time.
Barca is gambling its future revenue to fill in the gap, they sold naming rights on camp nou only to not be being playing their majority of the time in the estadi olimpic which is usual smart Catalonian business approach, always read the small print as theres always a catch, but brought in much needed money.
You can say blood money run clubs but you have to say for newcastle so far they appear to be the only club trying to stay within ffp and build a financially stable club learning from the rest, other teams even Nottingham forest have gone out and gone way over their spending limits and their owner has a lets say interesting past and reputation but the magnifying glass isnt on them
When they are through with the players that the need then they will release him with his money. They already discuss this with MU.
Graham Hunter = singing off the Spanish Press' hymn sheet, Barca will be so proud of him.
Wouldn't answer anything, just going around the houses, the guy is just a puppet

This guy could have an full blown argument with himself in a broom cupboard - incredibly confrontational style
Ok this is all ok but why can’t they pay De jong £17 million??? Its a complete disgrace
Who said they can’t ? They will but on their terms 🤷🏽♀️
Finally some real journalism being displayed to us, I’ve now learnt way more about the De Jong situation than have since this entire saga started and now I can be at peace and not read any article until I hear he either is staying in Barca or he choses United. But I must say as a United fan I now don’t think he’ll come I think he loves living in Barca to give it up now.
Yes the journalist who makes his living from getting access to Barcelona and reporting on them, that isn’t real journalism just a man knowing where his money is coming from
They essentially remortgaged
Run up a ton of debt, ruin historical football clubs but FFP was never designed to stop any of that because it was never "fair" from the start if you didn't notice.
If laligas FFP rules where in PL, then Chelsea and man United, tottenham with their debts would be destroyed by now. Are PL fans really talking about FFP. Laliga is the only league that has shown the courage to put the wage cap, something that's only done in American sports. Their president has shown not Madrid or Barcelona can cut any corners in that league.
Crooks put in his place brilliant 😂
Must be nice to be one of the pillars of the game you can do anything
Barcelona using United 75 million as equity to borrow money for lewandowski deal. 😆 🤣 😂
How is it "pretty normal" to want to pay De Jong back wages owed, when im the previous sentence you're saying its a different situation that usual because of deferred wages were a one off? It isny normal at all and its idiotic to suggest De Jong should accept that kind of deal when Barcelona may well just abandon paying him. They still owe WBA money for Louie Barry and are hoping it just goes away.
@@robertlee6338 so youre saying thats perfectly normal?
Alex Crook is a one of those "muppets around Europe" Graham was referring to.
i don''t know what people don't get. de jong doesn't want to go to united, they aren't playing champions league football and de jong helped barca get champions league football last season, he doesnt want to lose that. barca want him to go, they've already agreed a deal worth 85mil for him, they're not going to lose that just cuz of 17mil that they owe him. He doesn't want to go, united haven't convinced him and personal terms have not been reached
But the issue is they're trying to get out of paying him those deferred wages. The payments aren't due until next year. So if they sell him now they won't have to pay him those funds at all. And they're trying to force him to leave by holding his playing time hostage.
Graham cooking these clowns 🤣
I think that the frustration for pundits and those in the press, is that if this was an English club. They would be docked points, and likely put into administration.

The go-to explanation is that Barto was scared of any other of his squad being lured away by the likes of PSG.
But this doesn't explain why, just before leaving office, he renewed a whole raft of player contracts with absurdly generous terms. That amounted to sabotage of the new board's finances.
Basically De Jong does not want to go to United. Goldbridge and everyone saying "oohh its a done deal he wants to come" Deluded.
Frenkie De Jong is OWED money. It’s different. Barcelona spending €100m on players but refusing to straight pay his wages that he is OWED is embarrassing for a club
Barca don't OWE him anything legally
You understand the meaning of deferred? FDJ is not owned anything this season. If he does decide to move to United in that scenario Barcelona will have to clear his postponed and delayed salary. From the 85 million that Barcelona is asking for him, I'm sure they can pay the reported 17 million deferred salary to him before he leaves.
Who said the refused? I see you’ve been reading a lot of British media
@@bharat3719 You clearly have a spectacular understanding of contractual agreements.
@@senzokai3156 exactly 😂😂😂😂

The passion Hunter invests into what he thinks and says is admirable. His words always make perfect sense because they are fact and stat-based.
SPOT ON! Analysis!
Surely De Jong is in the power seat though, as he doesn't have to accept a new contract with Barcelona with reduced wages, as he is already in a contract.
then he should leave for man utd. the option is there and he doesn't want to make one. don't keep both parties waiting.
@@crypto_mbappe3056 I hope De Jong stays and rinses these Catalonian clowns with 40 million. This Hunter guy is absolutely mental.
@@ivanaleksandartsanev1693 there’s no way he will stay under those terms.
If he doesn’t love Barca; he won’t have deffered his wages in the first place and he won’t be fighting to stay. Him and Messi are the only non local players that deffered their wages. That’s to tell u the eyes he sees the club at. He is just fighting for respect and appreciation. If he doesn’t get it; he will leave.
The transfer has not heated up yet.
Man utd are patient waiting on the sidelines.
@@crypto_mbappe3056 De Jong said 'he is at the best club in the world' and that he wants to stay at barca. man utd should just buy someone else who wants to play for them.
@@antonyjones4259 Erik ten Haag knows Barca is kicking him out and he can’t stay. He is probably leaving the door open for man utd so they will continue the chase. Erik ten Haag said in an interview today that there’s no midfielder like FDJ available in the market right now so there’s no plan B.
Mr Graham Hunter Living the great life in Brazil
"Because there are too many Muppets reporting who don't know the fact" love this line.
Truth be told, if the regularly get in to the last stage in CL. They will easily make the money back and can buy back sold stages
what's their problem with Barcelona signing new players
Graham is just refreshing
1 question I wish the panel would've asked Graham. Is how does Barcelona selling future TV rights at 50% of their actual value. In order to get a lump sum of cash now. To then go & again spend beyond their current means on players. Effect the club's viability long term?
agrede ther has to give away 25% of that ther earn every year, in next 25 years, how is that good, i think it stupid and dangues, to try get succes right now, and hope all finacial rules, gone in few year, becuse if ther win super league thing, then FFP also not legal.
If you listened he told you. It doesnt as long as they perform in the champions league.
@@jamescain707 well it does. Giving up 50% of your tv rights in the modern day is an absolutely insane move and is one of the most desperate moves I’ve ever seen. Tv deals are where all the money comes from. Barca are far from champions league ready. They’ll be lucky to make it to the knockout stages next season
beyond their current means? They bringing in 700mil, 100-150mill transfer budget is no problem buddy
@@jamescain707 I understand, and heard that. But it's still a gamble! Too many great European club's to guarantee UCL success.
