Do you recommend scoring frog tape before removal? Been doing some painting today and will be applying a final coat and removing the tape tomorrow wouldn’t wanna mess it up lol
@adventure_F0x yes always... it's not necessarily about the bleed through. If what your taping to is actually smooth and clean where the tape won't lift, yoh shouldn't have to much trouble. It's when the paint bridges to the tape and the painted edge, when you go to peep the tape/damask, it will peel the paint because of the "bridging". It doesn't happen as much with frog tape but it does happen. It's really not the tapes fault. It's like you have to spray multiple coats for coverage, overall finish, so you have a pretty thick layer of paint. You have to score it first and be really really careful not to scratch or gouge the freshly painted surface...
Fun fact: on historically correct glazed exterior sashes, the paint MUST go onto the glass a couple millimeters. With skill your paint line will be super straight and neat of course, but the paint on the glass itself is your first line of defense from water incursion. With no paint overlap, your sash will last half as long in the weather.
@olinelvgreen2062 lots of em! A product called Glazol is what you want for glazing a sash. Forget you ever heard of DAP. In case you need a filler for an outdoor project, you want PC Woody. lol.. when i saw ya painting the glass i was like "oh he must have that masking stuff on the glass" haha
That's fine for interior doors, but for exterior, your paint is your seal. You WANT a small bead of paint on the glass. Otherwise, moisture will wick in behind and cause your paint to fail.
Absolutely incorrect. If the paint on your window or door is the seal; you need a new door/window. There is adhesive & sealant on doors and windows to create a seal. Paint protects the surface you're painting; not the interior of your home.
Can I ask how old you are? I think it's an old school thing, for single glazed units I go onto the glass but more modern ones I don't.
@@Frenulem That is a valid point. I suppose a glazed window would benefit. Here in Florida builders started opting for insulated windows back in the 70s.
Fabulous!! 😅🥰
I could have cut in every one of those panes in the same time it took you to mask the glass.
