I remember going to this restaurant on a holiday with my family about 20 years back. Its etched in my memory. It was after a morning walk in the cool Yercaud weather. The current owner's father served us the most delicious idlis, vadais and dosais. It's one of the happiest core memories I have of my dad who is no more. I now live overseas and wish I could go back to those days. Thanks Kripal Sir for bringing this memory back to life.
I am from Chikmagalur, I have visited yercaud many a times with my friends, but I make it a point to visit this hotel for breakfast without fail for their pongal and vada ....... I feel like eating at home ....... good service good people.
The articulation by Kripal for a restaurant which is heavily reliant on tourist is amazing as this will give spotlight to restaurant and help it thrive. Never knew of this when we visited Yercaud. Appears to be a hidden gem! And ofcourse south canara connection is icing on the cake( or Vada) 😊
Given the taste of the fare that I tasted, and its long-forgotten old-world vibe, Sri Venkateshwara truly deserves to be on every traveller's list of 'must-visit spots' when in Yercaud.

Nice to know their roots are from Thirthahalli where my mother comes from. Agumbe , Megaravalli ,Thirthahalli brings back old memories. Of late Thirthahalli has produced great vegitarian caterers for weddings and other functions even in Bangalore dos. Thanks Kripal for this video which touched my ❤️

Kripal, i think Most of the Old resraurants of TN has Karnataka (Udupi) Roots, i feel proud of it, Kannada families migrated from Lord krishna town always have blessing of the Deity, thays why they are successful, wather its Bombay or Madras, Kanchi or Madhurai, every place we find old restaurants having toots from Udupi, simce they learnt the art of portioning and packahing food for thaali or tifin they became successful
@@Adhi-fr9ps Our saravana bhavan is too costly and can't be afforded by lower Income group..Moreover the taste and quality has declined much...But still the Udupi hotels are cheaper, affordable and better choice than other annachi bhvanas...That's why they are still thriving...They will be there for ever

I had our lunch here South Indian meal when visited Yercaud. It was super. Very simple preparation but tasty and nutritious. Good thing is you eat as much as you can and still feel light on stomach.
I had been to that restaurant in 2008 when I was in 6th grade. The food here was the better than any other big restaurants in the hotels or resorts. Both breakfast and lunch were delicious.

You found a South Kanara friend in the restaurant owner . Simple menu and looks like they haven’t changed it since 1962 . Time for some Vazhaellai tiffin . To start with , one of your favourites , Medu Vada and Idli . The combo with the Idli and chutneys seem to be good despite the idli being a tad sour . Sambhar is runny and good to encompass the idli . The piping hot Vadai with good texture is a hit along with the condiments . Liberal usage of Molaga podi inside the Podi Dosa . I love Podi Dosa 😋 This evening we are planning to have Ghee Podi Dosa with tiffin sambhar and chutney . Hi Rajesh, this vazhaellai tiffin was super tasty, certainly a must visit when in the area. The bonus was the old world charm of the place, its decor almost dismissive of the time since its opening. If this humble owner renovates the place and gives modern decent look psychologically,his behaviour will change and this old humble flavor will go away,that's what I have noticed at many places
He should invest in his place. Some furnishings, wash basin, paint etc. He can have old charm but if you invest in your place, people will enjoy more plus will get more customers.
In 1970s in my home town which is Siddipet 100 kms away from Hyderabad we used to have three kannadigas restaurant by Mysore cafe, Udipi Sri Krishna Bhavan and i forgot the other name. During those days it is a blind belief that we get a good tiffin in Kannadigas restaurant.
Im.comparing just normal hotel in bengalur with a dosey here..and the one shown in this video...dosey..a beautiful dish...non other than kannada hotels do perfect one.
