Little did I know So Many decades ago when I first heard "Plynth - Water Down the Drain" and "Beck's Bolero" that those Amazing pieces would dictate my musical preferences FOREVER.

I read Beck once picked up an out of tune guitar. Strummed it once or twice, then proceeded to play it perfectly...

That's interesting that he couldn't stand loud noises and cymbals crashing around after the crash, when his guitar style required fairly high volume for the sustain he used. Which lead to tinnitus and that slowed him down through the 1980's, according to another memorial video.

Likely the most over-rated guitarist of all time. He did one thing better than everybody else - he perfected to use of the whammy bar for effect. One trick pony relying on parlor tricks. Not much in the way of classic material created and next to no influence on people coming after him. I play and have never heard someone say, "hearing Jeff Beck made me pick up a guitar." I've also never heard someone say he was an influence on their playing.

Ignorance is excusable. Arrogance less so. Guess you weren't around any world class players who said the exact opposite like Gilmour, SRV, Satriani, Stevens, Vai. Total nobodies, lol. Back to mom's basement with you.

@@Synonomous Was he a great musician? Yes. Was he an original? Yes. He was a great jazz and fusion player. He was the only one doing what he did. So people can say, yeah he was like nobody else. That's about what you can say.
Was what he did technically difficult. No. Could he sing? No. Was he a prodigious writer of music? No.
Does he lay a candle to his contemporaries like Page, Clapton, and Hendrix? No.
Culture Club sold 10x more albums than him. Let that sink in. Underwhelming appeal for a legend.

@@Synonomous None of the players mentioned prior to his passing ever said in an interview that Beck was a major influence on them. Thats your opinion. If im wrong, feel free to find an interview and share.

@@bluesky7333 Popular is no qualification of any kind. The generic, unsophisticated, people who buy crap like CC wouldn't know quality if it hit them in the face. Saying JB wasn't technically difficult reeks of a Malmsteen fanboi. More soulless garbage. I have played semi-pro for 40 years and the technical skill JB displayed was unequalled. I can replicate nearly every person you named and many more but can't touch Beck's feel or nuancing. Even Clapton bowed to his virtuosity, lol. Talk about a one trick pony. Page has done nothing in 40 years yet Beck was constantly improving and trying new things. He was still touring not polishing his ancient catalogue. Youmake little sense and clearly know not of that which you espouse using every player of any high skill level as a reference. My opinion is nothing but his contemporaries speak volumes. Let that sink in. Carry on Pop music fan.
