Tristian Trail destruction after storm ripped through Bentonville, AR.

- As most of you know we had a severe storm May 26th in Bentonville, Arkansas. An EF1 tornado touched down and it is so sad to see the destruction it has left behind. A month later we are still cleaning up and slowly some of the trails are open again. It has been heartwarming to see the amount of people that have been volunteering to help get these trails back up and running. One of the trails that just got cleaned up is Tristan Trail, this trail got hit hard, especially at the top. So many tree's that just got ripped out of the ground and whole areas are just whipped down. Hop along with me and @bentondrones to see what it currently looks like.
Thank you all for watching!

Anneke, thank you SO MUCH for creating this video. So sad to see the destruction caused by the storm. It hits home for me b/c Tristan Trail is the very first trail I ever rode on when I visited Bentonville in March. I can hardly recognize it. You’re such a great ambassador for Bentonville. I wish you and all of the residents the very best. If I make it out to the area this summer, I hope I can help clear the trails with you guys!
You are welcome and thank you for the kind words!
Extremely sad. Bentonville will be back! Thanks for sharing this important information
You are welcome!
thanks for the video! Tristans trail is one of my favorites and i know it well. I recognized every moment of your video and the fallen trees is crazy! I'm still in shock every time i see new videos from the area. Im heading down for the first week of july for riding vacation time. I might saw up a few logs while im there!
Any help is welcome! Hopefully I will see you out on the trails!
It's been weird to ride thru Tristians now...definitely SPF50 in some spots, odd to see the sky but the trail crews and volunteers are all doing a good job at getting things cleared
Especially at the top it looks so different. They did a great job indeed getting it cleared.
Good update for your area, it's always sad to see big trees destroyed by storms.
Sad for sure!
Ok, that wasn’t that bad. I was afraid the whole thing was gonna be a scorched hellscape. The drone lost you in the woods, so that’s a good sign - we still have a lot of trees.
Thank you for all you do to promote Bentonville and keep everybody informed.
The top part got affected the most and especially if you are local and ride this often it is a huge difference. Barn Burner was full of trees, you couldn't see the sky... now all the trees are like a box of matches on top of each other.
I'd not actually had a chance to try this trail when I was out there last year. Sad to see all the destruction. But it's good to see the community come together so much. And it's good the destruction had a minimal impact as far as locals safety.
This reminds me of what happened to Cady Hill in VT after an intense wind storm back in 2017. The entire character of the affected trails changed dramatically with the tree loss.
Great video!
I've got video of that from a couple years ago I apparently forgot to edit or upload (or it wasn't very good) but hard to remember what it even looked like prior to all these trees down :-(. We have had some tornadoes here in the St Louis region and it is always a gut punch to see the destruction and it is a massive back-killing effort to re-claim the trails.
🙏
We’ve been here since Friday. It’s just heartbreaking over by the museum
That area got hit really bad. Hope you have a Wonderfull time here despite most trails being closed.
Wow that's a lot of trees to work on just one trail!
So crazy this dropped today. I was literally raking and weed eating that trail today!
Thank you for doing that!! It's amazing to see the amount of work people have been putting into getting things back up and running.
@@annekebeerten mine was a small contribution. The Lincoln Junior High team has been doing a fantastic job at maintaining that trail and Leopards Loop trail!! They deserve the credit. Huge shoutout to the teams running chainsaws! Crazy how many trees fell over there!
I’m headed there this weekend and hope to be able to ride big and little sugar routes while I’m there.
Sad to see but looks like NWA will be seeing many new wood features on every trail here in the near future
Thank you for the update. These are the videos I have been dying to see with a bike trip scheduled for just a month from now I've been in full panic mode. Is there somewhere that I can find a list of what is closed? I have an app that tells me all of that for my area but I don't know what you guys use down there.
You are welcome. Please check out www.wearetrailblazers.com or follow them on Instagram. They update the trail status regularly. All the trails in Bella Vista are open, still 75% of the trails in Bentonville are closed.
Full panic? Why?
Thank you.
Full panic not knowing if the trails that I WANT to ride will be open or not. Unfortunately it's looking like all of the ones that I/we wanted to ride are not open and I can't imagine they will be able to get even half of what's still closed cleared in three weeks. I know what they are dealing with there because where I live we also had an EF-1 hit our neighborhood just a few days before theirs. I was also just in Bentonville on Sunday (passing through) so I saw it first hand. My heart goes out to the community. It's gonna kill me to have to cancel this trip... Don't know that I can convince myself or the bros to spend thousands on a trip where we don't get to ride the trails we planned the whole trip for. 😢😢😢
@@brettk9265Chill dude. Being in a panic because your preferred trails you saw on UA-cam and instagram aren’t open is hardly a real problem. Either come and ride something else that is open or don’t visit until later. It’s not that big of a deal. I mean seriously, some people’s lives were ruined and others died and you’re having a meltdown about the minutia of your favorite trails status.
@FullSenderson. You clearly didn't read the whole comment. Bentonville isn't the only place in the country that's dealing with the aftermath of tornadoes. Nothing I said is downplaying that.
Hey Anneke great vid as always! Who to contact to get involved with the volunteer groups.?
Please contact www.wearetrailblazers.com They will be able give you more info.
@annekebeerten I am coming back to NWA next week. How can I find out about volunteering sessions? I’d be honored to come put in some sweat equity on the cleanup efforts.
Please check out www.wearetrailblazers.com and their Instagram and Facebook account. They will announce trail days on there! Thanks for helping!
When do you think the majority of the trails will be open in Colar and Slaughter pen?
Coler will be a while since it got hit the hardest and Slaughter Pen is slowly opening up more and more trails. Unfortunately some trails are damaged and will need some rebuilding.
Why do people bike through trees . I don't get it. There's nice flatter areas to ride why bike next to trees on a 1ft trail
