- We've all been there, the fear of crashing, getting hurt or just scared of getting out of our comfort zone to do jumps. I've helped out my friend and badass rider Jess the Maker with something she was struggling with, doing bigger jumps. It is alway's easier said then done, fear easily creeps in on us, little devils in our head telling us what to do, not to do, and we ALL struggle with this at times. Doesn't matter if you are a beginner or a pro rider, we all had that moment of like "Hell no, I am not doing that!" But often we can overcome this with the right approach and taking time to learn how to do it. In this video we are focusing on jumping bigger jumps, the steps to improve your jumping and how to learn to do bigger jumps in a safe way.
I had a blast coaching Jess and she is such an amazing riding. We both hope this video will help you if you are struggling with the same thing. Please let us know if there is anything els you are struggling with and we might be able to give you some advice!
Thank you for watching and until next time!

as a 64 year old newish to MTb-ing I totally understand these mental blocks we get, great to see you progress. you don't get this when road riding. thank you
Was just there last weekend. Couldn't get myself to commit to any of that libe except for the drop even though I know I'm capable of clearing all of it. Fear gets the best of me!
I really like your coaching style. I'd totally watch more videos like this. Especially if they were for riders who have a little bit less skill and confidence than she did. (She's already clearing 6m+ tables)
I put this to work at the local skills park today. The perspective really helped! There was a big improvement.
Always helps to have a tow in to know the right speed for a jump. Good tips on the preload.
Awesome!
So great to see the progression and overcoming fear! Great coaching and great to see the smiles after accomplishing the goal!
Thank you! 🙏
Crushed it, y'all! Nice work...the mental part is such a big part of riding.
You two are the bestest!
Loved that video, very motivating!
Glad you liked it!!
Great video @ annekebeerten 👍, i think your method is invaluable to guys as well as girls especially the slow progression and especially for someone like me whos 55 years young & struggles to keep the 18 year old contained and not just send things blind lol 😝
I mean this literally as im short sighted & should wear glasses and cant read the warning ‼️ signs and dont know if its a drop or jump coming up , so quite often just send it & hope for the best lol 😂.
Thanks again from the awsome video & keep em coming 😎🤘
So refreshing to see women coaching women. It sounds so different. Mental blocks are a real thing! Working on getting bunny hop, manual and wheelie. Love to see some videos on these. Look forward to many more!
Great video!! The “intimidation” factor is very real for most riders IMO….super cool to see your take on how to deal with it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is making me want to go out and work on a double that's been on my mind for a couple of years. It's always intimidated me as it's midway down a black jump line. I can hit everything except that one.
Love this video of Jess the Maker progression thru the jump refresher and getting the mojo back, great flow and information that I can use for myself and my wife.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really great video. Anneke is a great coach, Jess you're a good student. Thanks for posting!
Those jumps are a blast when you clear them!
They are awesome, so well build!
Its such a great feeling to feel that pulse if speed when you clear and hit the downslope. Nice to also see ladies having fun on mountain bikes. My most difficult barrier to overcome is having enough confidence to clear a double. I got in over my head in Angel fire and crashed on an upslope fracturing my wrist. Your trails look incredibly well built and open compared to these narrow rock strewn trails in Austin. I hope to visit soon
Nice job Jess!! 👏🏻
Way to go Jess! Jumping the e-bike too! 🤘
yes, she did! 🚀⚡️
So helpful, Aneeke - great coaching session!
Thank you!
Great Vid Anneke! The two of you work well together! Can’t wait for more collaborations. As you know I have many fears after my accident, but it keeps getting better and I’m riding more, some of which I give you credit for because of your sessions and helping me understand the correct way to do certain skills.
Glad to hear that it's a good thing to case a jump multiple times before you start sending it. I thought it was a bad habit of mine as I have some friends who instantly clear or even overshoot things where as I always almost deliberately case the shit out of everything. Then once I know I can survive that, I start clearing stuff.
Great video and very helpful!
Nice! I really like, and relate, with that comment that it is better to jump and case rather than brake and switch off to the side of the jump as every time that happens the jump becomes bigger in your head. Cheers
Totally! Often experienced that myself.

Thanks!
Good job!!!
Thanks!!
How should you set up a full suspension for jumps? Does a firmer setup provide more pop? I’m a roadie trying to learn the ins and outs. Thanks!
The speed difference from the case landing to the speed clearing looked almost double. I case every jump, looks like I need to start with a faster approach.
Slowly build up that speed and get more comfortable with that! But at the end you’ll definitely need speed to clear the whole jump. Good luck 🙌!
@@annekebeerten good advice!
@@annekebeerten Thanks! Love your content!
Please address the dead sailor.
?when you stand tall should your feet be level or the front of your foot/toes pointed down slightly?
Ideally front foot flat, back foot toes slightly down.
@@annekebeerten Sweet... I appreciate you responding and putting out solid content.
As a man I’ll just say that looks scary 😂
Your feeling of intimidation is not unique to women. I am a male and I am not sending jumps like that. It is intimidating for ANYONE who is not at a certain level to practice and risk looking dumb in front of more seasoned riders.
