Robert is the crazy uncle we all wish we had!
Yeah, not all of us.
Robert just staring at the camera like he didn’t just hyperventilate
Sadly he become part of the progressive battery EV anti-nuclear lobby...
@@JohnCline True enough, some people are boring farts
Those family outings where you just want to go home
I’m in tears for that intro alone. Really wish cities could figure out how to get these as carshare fleets. They’re perfect for that use case
I rented a brand new 500e in Athens. The experience was incredible. A really nice car
All EVs need to include a Robert ICE sound effect.
Imagine that sound when you plant your foot down 😂
No, they absolutely DO NOT.
You'll have fun even when you're stuck in traffic if you take Robert with you 😂
Can confirm
"Seems like a nice boy"
Love the car. I'd prefer an honest, electrical sound, doesn't have to be permanent, just honest, from the motor, or even somewhere else.
You can disable it btw there’s an option in the infotainment
The Rimac has only real electric motor noise. No fake sounds.
Can it be disabled permanently ?@@Rufusbully
Can we have a Bobby-soundtrack as enhanced sound/warning sound for electric cars? 🙂
Now that’s a brilliant idea! 😅
But it needs to be in the voice of Kryten.
Definitely should be an option on all future EVs
I would so make this my car tone
Haha put Sir Robert on the soundtrack please FIAT!
Me personally I would just want the electric motor sound pumped in, but I would also love an ev with a clutch. I can hear my bikes motor under load and it's savage. I love the sinewave and it resonates with the bike at about 40kmh and it's sweet, makes a lovely hum.
Wot a LAUGH!! Love this! Now rewinding to watch it all over again! 👏👏👏👏
Oh, thanks boys, that was really funny. I needed that today.
I just found this show recently & Jack is an incredible host for this show, really does an incredible job.
I've been thinking that too. He's got kind of an old school top gear Clarkson vibe with his quips and observations being a little hit and miss but mostly hit. I enjoy watching these now so it'll be cool to see him go from strength to strength.
Always a fan of Jacks reviews - not sure on the 80s coke baron looks these days though 😂
Thanks Jack's mum.
He looked like a young Clarke Gable today…
I want everything painted “fxck you blue!” And I don’t even like the color blue 😂
Also what a great combo Jack and Robbert. You guys should do that more!
I gave you a thumbs up just for that intro alone :D
All of your videos are great, but this intro is just chef's kiss! XD
Love the opening 😅
That intro… FAN-BLOODY-TASTIC! 😂👏
The intro made my week 😂 I vote it’s a new way to start every car review from the fully charge crew, Ricky next please 🤣
That was quality in action from beginning to end. Production values way beyond the medium. Hey it was brilliantly presented, great counterpoint & FUN😊
I was rolling of my chair lauging!!! What a great opening
My standard Fiat 500e is already a very fun drive, and I can only imagine the Abarth would be rather go-cart-esque. Yes, the lack of a left foot block is an annoyance, but you end up finding a spot that doesn't get in the way, and the range is not going to be anywhere near 150 miles: the conventional car averages around 3.5 miles per kWh - so realistically 140miles - and of course the Abarth will want to be driven harder.
Interesting on this one. Glad to see a car that isn't silver or grey 🤣
Thank goodness there is an Off switch! That noise would drive me (further) nuts. Price seems a bit steep for the range, but then it's also a fashion item.
I had a Formula One special edition Fiat 500 with a selespeed transmission about 10 years ago. Absolutely loved it - when it was working. The thing broke down at least once a month and spent more time in the workshop than on the road. Given most of the issues were electrical I’m very sceptical re the reliability of an EV version, even if there is less, supposedly, to go wrong.
Selespeed, that's the problem right there.
Wait! What?!?
Robert is a vicar!?!
As someone once said 'What the what!' (I don't remember who)
I think they should use Bobby's sounds at idle!
Congratulations on the 1M subs! 👌 Always fun to see Robert. 😘
I knew that was the Robert soundtrack!
Good intro and fun review.
Love the intro
"Fu*k yeah blue" 😄Would love to see the marketing having a bit of fun throwing around such slogans.
Thanks for the joy.
Love it! Cracking video as usual and a cat I would very much like to drive. Thanks you FC
Great review, good to see a true hot hatch, not some oversized SUV. It would be interesting to compare the Abarth with the MG 4 X-Power that has just been launched.
In today's market the $44K+ is way out of line. The brand, model, features, and performance don't justify the price. If this was $25-30K it be more justified.
The prices for cars is insane compared to the US market which is often 15-20k cheaper, why is it so much in Europe? why do we have to pay so much more? where is this hidden costs coming from? why do we have to pay them? surely it's not all tax either. Something needs to be done, who is going to buy an EV for insane amounts of money which is bad value? I think the whole market needs some sort of home grown car conversion movement to reduce the costs because bigger manufacturers are living in make believe land with their prices.
@@RealistReviewer Only Tesla is profitable.
No small car sale, regardless of powertrain, is profitable, relying on parts and repairs for a small profit margin.
“I hope you don’t buy it because every time I sell one it costs me US$14,000. I’m honest enough to tell you that.” Sergio Marchionne. Fiat CEO 2014.
“We are talking about a very strong change in the direction of the industry. We can’t simply put this new world on top of the old world; it’s a complete transformation. The technology for EVs means that our production costs are 40% higher than for an internal-combustion car. We can’t just pass those costs on to consumers because we would lose half of our customer base. We can’t stop the middle class from having access to new cars. So because of regulations we have no choice but to absorb that 40%." Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares, Mar 2023.
ICE OEMS make EVs not because they want to, but because it allows them to sell ICE in countries and states that require them to reduce their average CO2 pollution. Known as compliance cars.
The price break through will occur out of Tesla Mexico with the design and manufacturing breakthroughs Tesla employs.
@@waynerussell6401you only quoted two dodge execs. They don’t have a great track record at making sound financial decisions.
Robert on great form, Jack too. Another fun episode.
That was the best intro ever 😂😂😂
If Elon Musk had been involved with the cars sound they would definitely have used Roberts imitation…..it was brilliant 😂😂
I bought mini electric for its go cart handling fun factor and even though many criticise it's small battery this helps keep the weight down and efficiency up with regular 4.5 mile per kwh and above. What's this like Jack, i would hope it's similar efficiency to the mini. Similar size and weight vehicles, a nice head to head maybe. I've seen 145 miles range from my mini and i never use green/eco mode only normal or sports mode and let's say spirited driving lol.
Another MINI EV driver here. If I had to sum it up, the MINI has more performance, but is more serious. The Fiat is just a blast. Either will put a smile on your face. The Fiat has more range, but range is completely over rated. I have never wished for more in the MINI in almost 3 years. If the MINI didn't exist, this is where my money would go.
Love how they got Jack to review the Abarth and Imogen to review the Kia EV9. Can't tell if it is genius or evil ; )
I rented an ordinary electric 500 for a holiday on the Canary Islands. Lovely little car (with some Italian ICE quirks). Fond memories. I treated it like I would any other rental, and it took the abuse like a champ.
This Abarth version is so very charming. But the lowered suspension would not work on the tracks I took my rental 😂
what company did you use btw?
@@markhamilton7289 CICAR. No problems with my one experience with them.
@@ChristofferETJ thanks. Wondered about using them last visit and didn’t but will do so next visit
"Imperfect but endearing" is the story of many an Italian car. My first car, a 1976 Fiat 128 was a lot of imperfect but, man, I loved that little fellow. For a long ten years. And it was, for me, always more charming than the VW GTI that replaced it (which I kept for 32 years). Thus, I adore this Abarth as I was enamored by the previous internal combustion version. Alas and being retired, I do not have the disposable funds to again be endeared by the imperfect. But maybe you will have the pleasure instead.
Best intro 😅❤
😮Aaa Jeeeez😅😅😅
Hilarious Robby's engine rumble sound😅😮😅
Let's be honest,
it was really nice put well long rumbling👌👍😅😅
Best opening ever! Greetings from Brazil.
Where was this episode filmed?, it's a lovely estate. Also great work on the colour grade for this.
I had 4 of the ICE Abarths and loved them, this is a proper Abarth because it puts a smile on your face!
I think the petrol cars were a cheeky Terrier cousin of the Fiat version, its the same with the 500e and the Electric Abarth
If we had two cars and could afford it, I'd have one of these, in the blue
I’d really love to have more noise from EV cars when they are designed for enthusiasts. I understand that people looking for a driving appliance appreciate the silence but for people who love cars some sound is welcome.
I 100% agree with Jack that mimicking a ice engine is dumb though. I would love to hear something that is electric like and ideally something that is real- like the Taycan.
In any case it’s great to see some fun EVs coming out. I’m not interested in a gadget I want something fun and engaging 😊
Loved the intro! Hehe
Best thing about EVs is the blessed silence. That’s just stupid: like adding on the first model T the “clip clop” of the horses and some steaming manure on the dash for authenticity.
Well put, I drive a diesel, when I eventually get an EV, the last thing I want is for it to sound like my previous 40 years of motoring.
Now I want my motorcycle to make "clip clop " noise. 😂
I see it as being similar to fake meat. The fake meat, such as Beyond Meat or Impossible Meat etc isn't for actual vegans. It's for people who say things like 'I know that meat is murder and meat farming is one of the biggest polluters on the planet, but I like the taste too much to give it up."
Versus a mini?
Totally agree. One of the best features of EV's is the lack of noise polution.
More car reviews by Bobby please!
You don't know Jack
@@nc3826 i do, i just prefer Bobby personally.
It's an expression.
I like the size, not looking for the sound effects or hothatch side of it, let's hope we get more this size
its a great fun car and actually rides really well too. The sound generator is fun for 5mins but then you switch it off. It needs an alternate "soundtrack" that sounds whooshy and a bit millennium falcon.
As long as the noise remains INSIDE the car… fine.
Seems interesting. For as small as you say it is and how it feels, it looks like you fit fine. Correct me if im wrong, though; hard to tell if you got the seat slammed and in the back seat 😂
I love it. Thanks for the amazing reviews. I own a 2013 gas version.
😂 I can't, that beginning 😂
Woah that intro was mad!
Edit: Oh jeez I was talking about the amazing graphic but the intro is proper mad lmao.
What a plonker Robert Llewelyn is with that start! Love him! Perfect
Had a 500e for a year, and it was great, but upgraded to an MG4 long range..... No contest.
Less than a minute in and I've already weed on the floor!! 😂
One electric car sound that remember when I think about it is the taycan. From what I remember is sounds good
Hey Jack. Love your work 👍
How has this car moved on from the BMW i3, 1350kg, same as the i3, 0 -60 same as the i3 with a similar range and the i3 is 9yrs old
Robert (dad) "I remember when cars made noises like this." Jack (son) "You're a silly billy"
I've got the 500e. I'd be interested if there was a range upgrade. But neither are much crack at 70.
0-45 is where its most fun. I start thinking about range after that and drive sensibly 😂
I think I might prefer the silent running though.
Range went down, actually
I miss my 2013 Abarth gasoline manual transmission Canyon runner. The motor died in early death in the Phoenix heat on the way home from work when two coils dropped on me and I kept driving it. Never buying another turbo. Thought I was having turbo leakage or an ignition problem. The range on any car like this is No thanks for me. I’m currently enjoying a 22 Ford Maverick hybrid and for a pick up that drives like a car for only 25K it’s more fun and respectable. My next vehicle will be an Aptera.
Looking forward to it's arrival in Australia even if it's only 1,000(from memory).
Amazing Robert as usual
As a former owner of a couple of Peugeot 205 gti's I really like this car, the fake engine noise is a gimmick I probably would have used back in my 20's, but not now in my 50's.
If I could make my Polestar 2 sound like it had a Lexus V10, I would. And I'd never turn it off.
Love it, it's perfect and I want one immediately.
Damn, how far Robert has come? Wow just wow, I still remember the days he recorded with his phone
I want one. They are really nice.
Great road test as always from Jack, but the standard Fiat 500e has more than enough performance for me with a tested 0-60 time well under 8 seconds. But if I ever do opt for an Abarth 500e, I'll have that fake exhaust drone permanently disconnected.
Definitely not a sensible car, but I WANT ONE!!! Nothing more fun than a small, fast car. Especially if you live in Europe.
I just love this wee thing!!! Makes me smile, I drive an Ioniq5 and I loved driving this on a test drive, and the noise was just awesome haha (in the right places) 😅 doesn't take its self serious and is proud to be loud and proud !
That’s a proper sound for EVs 🤣🤣
Jack the beanstalk and the old man. Couldn’t be any better.
This thing supposed to go into Mass Production😍I Love how Cute it is❤️
Ah Kryten I missed you 🤣
I watch your videos sometimes just for the soundtrack.
i'll keep watching it, i promise, but so far im rewatching the intro, funniest thing i seen all week by far, Homer Simpson sound-a-like.
This car looks amazing! Wish we were able to get them in the states!!
Christmas album of "Bobby makes car sounds" incoming
The hosts are just incredible 😂 love this show!
Omg great sound profile 😂
I think the only negative is the price. You can get a spec'd up (white seats + wheels) Tesla Model 3 RWD for less. But then Tesla's are the new Camry and this little guy is far more appealing. Especially for city driving.
I own a Subaru BRZ, a firm planted and light sports car that weighs 1240kg. The Abarth is 1350kg and would likely feel just as planted. Critically, both are about the same speed 0~60mph / 0~100kph. 7sec or so is not slow. Living in Sydney I'm surrounded by 50 and 60kph zones so speed is irrelevant and more likely to be detrimental to keeping your license.
Being an anime fan I'd go mild with some PIKA custom plates on the Yellow car and call it a day.
Acid green, poison blue
Abarth 500E, “Hand built by Roberts”. 😂
Which is more fun, this or the microlino?
Would the sound help for people who have bad sight? So they can hear you coming?
Abarth 500e vs Honda e video please
We’ve had our normal 500e for 20 months now and I’m 6.2 and though I agree the foot space isn’t great you do get used to it… Best bit is even that version just makes you smile! Great film!
Love my 500e both to drive and to look at, also love the colour of the Abarth.
I noticed that the 500, even the normal ones, come in new, un-boring colours. Nice move by Fiat.
Hyundai’s Ionic 5N might have nailed this a little harder. I can’t wait to find out
I wouldn't call them competitors.
How long does the battery last before it needs replacing?
Perfect intro.
I recently rented a Fiat 500e, it was great fun to drive and accelerated satisfactorily away from tailgating BMWs. If the the Abarth is more expensive than the Fiat I would stick with the Fiat.
I used to go uphill very slowly in noisy petrol cars, but since I got the Zoe, it really runs up hills like a frightened horse on an American Freeway!!
You were obviously driving the wrong petrol cars.
My 455bhp M140i flies up hills and destroys Tesla's, while sounding amazing.
Not been here before, is That Robert Goddamn Llewelyn? Subbed xD
I would just disable the engine (and startup) sounds. If I want that I'll get an ICE equivalent.
That yellow one has eyebrows like Jacks!
HEY WHAT
@@JackScarlett1 Hi, Jack -- and don't say that on an aeroplane! 🙂
Gasp…😮 EXACTLY correct! 👏👏
Really odd that Fiat announced that we’re getting the 500e in the US, but hasn’t said a thing about when it’ll actually happen, how much it’ll cost, and whether or not we’ll get the Abarth.
If they bring over the big battery 500e Convertible for under $35k, might have to take a chance…
Hope they want the high margin Abarth version in the US. (Hint, hint Fiat)
