I really like a lot of things about Remnant 2 but the story is distractingly bad. I cannot bring myself to keep playing when the story is so integral. The voice acting is absolutely awful and ever character just waffles endlessly. I wish there was an option to completely turn off the story. You can turn off the dialogue but there are so many choices that actually matter in the game I find it beyond frustrating.
Surprised we can’t meet the Great Snek 🐍 or find out anything about them in this DLC.. 😅 They seem to be following the Lost tv show playbook: introduce lots of mysteries & then don’t answer them. I know some things should remain a mystery, but give us something. 😅
All of the space magic chosen one mumbo jumbo was such a huge mistake for this game where in all the previews it looked so cool and grounded. it bums me out they leaned into it even more for the dlc
The bland and unoriginal writing really is the most disheartening aspect of this game. Most other things wrong with Starfield can be improved if Bethesda cares (though it seems like they don't, judging from the standard of the patches they've put out). But the story and dialogue is always gonna stay forgettable at best, because that's something you just have to make sure you get right during development. It's the reason so many people championed CP2077 even after the catastrophic launch, and why almost no one cares about Starfield now.
I honestly don’t have a problem with a chosen one story line as long as it’s written good which starfield definitely wasn’t I mean the problem people had with Skyrim wasn’t that your the Dragonborn it’s that the guards treated you like someone who couldn’t handle a sword even tho you be killing dragons lol
In terms of the endless procedurally generated planets with little memorable content on any of them, it feels like they failed to learn from No Man’s Sky and Mass Effect Andromeda. NMS said the whole game was procedural and promised that this would lead to interesting gameplay. At launch, players disagreed (though they did improve the game over time). When BioWare was making Andromeda, their initial plan was also to have a huge number of planets, and the idea was for most of it to be procedurally generated. But at some point, they realized that this wasn’t fun, so they scrapped it and just hand crafted a few planets. Starfield came in and said “ok but THIS time, procedurally generated planets will be fun!” And they’re not. I feel like they must have realized this, but maybe they had less time than BioWare, so instead of moving to a narrower scope, they just moved ahead with what we eventually got, and just told us that they believed it was the right idea, even if they felt otherwise. Actually, this goes with an idea I had back in Fallout 76. At the initial reveal, they said there’d be no NPCs , and they talked about this like it was a good thing. Players disagreed, and NPCs were later added. Personally, I always believed that NPCs were just cut to save time so they could get the game out the door (they clearly didn’t let that game finish).
One hand-crafted solar system would be way more interesting than a million procedurally generated worlds and the first RPG developer to realize that will make bank.
Bethesda releases have been getting consistently more disappointing for a while now. The Far Harbor dlc for Fallout 4 was the last Bethesda anything that I liked.
Shivering Isles for ES4 Oblivion was a gigantic DLC that exploded the number of quests and explorable land mass, and is the real precedent to match with for me =)
Phantom Liberty in my mind is the new standard for how an expansion can save a dead game. I was really hoping starfield would get that same treatment. Maybe one day...

Disappointed they didn’t add ‘slow-mo kill cams’ & combat / stealth finisher animations (like in Skyrim/ FO3/ FO4). Would have also been cool to add new full companions / romance options with this DLC (with loyalty quests etc). Fallout 4 had 13 unique companions.
@@BehuraStudio Sadly not, which is bizarre as they had combat/ stealth finisher animations in their last three single player games: Fallout 3, Skyrim, and Fallout 4. Really hope they add it! It makes combat much more immersive imo. There are unfortunately so many features missing from their previous games. We can’t even swim underwater in Starfield, even though there are sea creatures to scan, lol. They obviously needed a few more years to finish the game. If they eventually finish it I will try it again, but I won’t if they just try to rely on modders to finish it.
Agreed! That’s one of my gripes with Starfield as well. There is very little curation of scenes, or interesting scripted moments to enhance the immersion or drama.
Well, you saved me 30.00 so that's cool. The combat is my biggest complaint was the difficulty in combat and yes, the loot was bad. It was just boring after so many hours. I did a lot of ship building and exploring then I got burnt after finishing the faction quest lines and then blew through the main story and hated the ending. The lack of a vehicle and the boring planets is what killed the exploration for me and the lack of even needing to build a base was weird. I put a good amount of time into it almost 300 hundred hours and enjoyed 250 of them. I just am in a spot of not wanting to play games that are that long anymore. I think Phantom Liberty was 30.00 and there's the difference, not all DLC are created equal.
@@sopcannon Yes that's true and that is perfectly priced for what it is. Bethesda or Microsoft or whoever is setting these prices are just greedy. Poor Paul. Im getting big "Im not mad, im just (really) disappointed" vibes in this one. I think i remember, in his original Starfield video, him saying it was up there for his game of the year last year.
My big thing with Starfield is the entire skill tree is a snooze fest. I don’t want tiny incremental increases to basic abilities. They need to put in weapons/armor/abilities/skills that fundamentally change the game. Also they need way more enemy types and sizes of enemies. Remember that mech factory?! HOW WAS THERE NOT A BIG MECH FIGHT?
It was not good. The only upside were the armor and weapon design and the city. The story was abysmal, the actual content did not push the game forward at all. It was so disapponting. I also love how Andreja, probably the most morally gray companion you can obtain, is absolutely against any of the evil decisions, and the game would not let me dismiss her at all, so I was stuck joining a cult for the quest, and then I was stuck being a good guy when I wanted to do more morally ambiguous or evil choices.
After completing the main story, Starfield primarily felt like a modding platform - with the crafting, base building, and planets offering systems not really needed. I was underwhelmed by most of the writing and mission design (let's fix up The Eye mission! 🤬). Also, no explanation for why the temples were where they were, why starborns are given a ship and spacesuit, etc etc... Just felt very "meh" overall.
Yeah it feels like they added basically nothing. Basically no new interesting armor or weapons, no new mechanics. There just isn't a valid excuse for a company with that many resources to be dropping the ball this hard. By now we should have received a faction rework with differentiation and better loot pools, a comprehensive survival / hardcore mode, new armor / weapons, etc., but instead we just got scrap mostly pulled together from existing assets.
I like the article I saw where someone asked what a director for this game learned from Starfield so far and he said “I learned that fans really really really want Elder Scrolls VI”
I feel like the first year post release saw most, if not all, changes at the core experience via maps, vehicle, gameplay options, performance options and lighting adjustments. I believe the future of starfield will be geared towards medium sized story expansions for those who enjoy the core experience (and which can be greatly enhanced with some overhaul mods, as usual). I feel starfield is a distinct flavor from fallout and elder scrolls. There are people who like ES and dont like fallout and vice versa. I doubt that a new ES game will rely heavily on procedural techniques, POIs and so on. It will certainly use procedural design as the base layer for the map and have tons of radiant events, but fall more in line with previous ES games in other aspects. So, if you like starfield, the intended long tail of the game is probably expansions like shattered space on a yearly basis, and thats alright. They need to adjust the pricing, though. 20 seems good for the size.
Depending on your choices you can get 2 new companions, I’ve seen many say there is none there is just during certain missions you did things that kept you from getting them.
I'm rooting for Indiana Jones Game, however, considering their reputation as of the past few years I'm not crossing my fingers and expecting issues at launch.
Once upon a time Bethesda had writers who came up with some of the most interesting and creative lore in all of gaming (TES lore), and they acquired an IP that was built on very interesting lore (Fallout), but since then they’ve completely lost nearly all ability to come up with anything as captivating
Starfield’s been out for a year. One year after NMS released, it had gained base building, vehicles, a new story, an early form of multiplayer, plenty of QOL changes, revisits to core gameplay loop design, etc etc etc. Bethesda does not care. They have not taken accountability or put their heads down and worked at it.
Like what you said about it having good bones. The game does. But not enough of all the different elements/gameplay loops are fleshed out really well. The investment is hardly worth the grind, which is sad. It’s been a over a year and still barely any bug fixes (they did for some longstanding ones for dlc). Still not enough QoL updates, bug fixes or visual enhancements to make it super enjoyable.
One thing I absolutely hated about this DLC was that Bethesda created a gorgious and interesting indoor area, only to make it inaccessible after the main quest. Like, you don't even get to explore the area properly because it becomes a hot mess of 5 million npcs shooting at you.
I played an awesome Contra style side scroller called Iron Meat this weekend. Playthrough only took an hour and a half. Way more fun than Starfield which I never bothered doing the final mission on that planet with those weird multiverse dudes.
Games like these are probably much better as a player to wait until all the patches and expansions are released prior to starting it, instead of at launch. Better to wait until the full package is released, instead of trying to come back to the game for the expansion after putting it down for so long.
I really hoped they would turn this around. I was so hyped for this game, but when it came out i immediatly realized it was just lacking so much, and exploring just didnt feel good at all bc of the zones on the planets. I dont tthink i will return to this game until i see some massive improvements to the core
If you guys like Destiny gunplay with rogue-lite elements please play Witchfire. I’m lowkey shilling this game right now because I love this game and desperately want to see it take off.
Well that's too bad. I was looking forward to playing this in the hope that there was improvement in the story-telling at least. I didn't see that the graphics had changed much, but the world looked like it was going to be cool. Oh well, maybe wait till it goes on sale. I'm not paying $30 for what amounts to a faction quest.
I can't agree with non of these comments, people compare this to cyber punk and I can't even get into cyber punk. So I guess we can chalk this down to a difference of opinion cuz I don't have a problem with starfield more shattered space. I thought both were good albeit they both have flaws but none have touched on the flaws that get to me. Which shows people who don't like this game are of a totally different generation of gaming and that's fine. To each its own. Nice unbiased video btw
I was going to ask about the cars and then you answered my question. Sounds like a half-baked idea. A massive buff to the Oxygen/stamina and weight capacity systems would have been far better.
Please make a video about nintendo killing ryujinx emulator and ending the switch emulation scene. What they couldn't bring to court they bought. Fuck them!
The pre release pitch for this game sounded every boring. It's comical that non mass effect fans tried to say that this game would be mass effect in any capacity.
No way this dlc sells well, which means either Bethesda tries to fix the game or they release 1 or 2 more minor dlcs and move on. I think the latter is more likely.
@@JtotheDoubleL i don't mean that i think this game is a 8.8. i mean it like how influencers and internet can truly change your perspective. The very lazy marketing of it, and the total lack of hype for it and even just the announcement of it was super tame, and didn't look like something I'd jump right into without seeing reviews first. It's resembling a Horse Armor DLC for ES4 Oblivion so far
imagine having the budget and team to do WHATEVER you want, you make a dramatic space epic RPG from one of THE names in RPG's, and its boring and empty with nobody playing or caring. . .way to go.
I am 8 hours in and haven't finished everything. A lot of time in game and worth the notice for me personally. Also happy the whole dlc is one planet. Sad the boss is lame and not much horror after the first mission on space station
ultimately i am of the opinion that this game has an identity crisis. It has elements that make it seem like a simulator yet you have super powers. either have fun with it and break some expectations or make it a better simulator.
I've been enjoying it! The game is still needing some work to line out technical issues, but this DLC is a breath of fresh air and it is really interesting. I understand that it isnt for everyone.
what da f...your movement is complete diferent from what i experienced in game! my character always do a little "wable" when i stop the movement (in any direction) it's like the head of the character do a small "whiplash", same with aiming, its like i'm always fighting the mouse, it simple doesn't stop where i want....it became unbearable to me and i quit the game. (don't happen on other fps games!)
They didn't even try to work on Starfield's strengths. I've played about 5 hours and I am just not gonna play anymore, this would be a mediocre Elder Scrolls/Fallout expansion. It just isn't worth the time and certainly is not worth the money.
16:55 whoa whoa whoa! You ae hardcore missing out on refusing to do Unity-- that is like, the most core element of the game and you're just shooting yourself in the foot by not doing it. It is a super epic game option that cannot be just skipped on. You may even invalidate your entire review by not even doing the Unity; what grounds do you have to review it if you don't even participate in a fundamental aspect of it game itself...

I have yet to get tired of Starfield but then again I love Skyrim, Oblivion and Morrowind and this feels like those but in space. These games aren't about having the best weapon or armor, it's about having a sandbox in which you role play how you want and not everyone will want that which is cool, but I am so excited for more sandbox.
See, the most important part of the Elder Scrolls to me is the massive and interesting world. I feel like Starfield is utterly lacking in both interesting exploration and interesting lore.
When I reached level 5 in the game I found a random roll pistol that could kill anything in the game, and set them on fire to boot. From then on the game was an absolute slog and cakewalk. So hard to believe that the game never really was balanced considering how much time it was worked on and how many people worked on it.

Thanks for saving my time with this one , so surprised there’s no system reworks or anything
After this fuckup I'll never buy another bethesda game. They are better enjoyed for free, less stress and you can shelve it without regrets.
I got passed the space station part. As bad as it was. But refused to go any further when you have to join the cult. I play a good guy. Not a psycho.
I was going to ask about the cars and then you answered my question. Sounds like a half-baked idea. A massive buff to the Oxygen/stamina and weight capacity systems would have been far better.
There is a carrying capacity setting now. I can set it to 1360kg with -4% xp penalty. It saves a lot of time and hassle.
One of the worst parts is all the armour and weapons are just reskins and there isn’t even that many, this is cheap, could have been free in creations
A game i never finished. Didnt even know they had a dlc come, glad i didnt see anything about it.
How do they see all the negative response to starfield and then drop a lacklustre dlc
No way this dlc sells well, which means either Bethesda tries to fix the game or they release 1 or 2 more minor dlcs and move on. I think the latter is more likely.
Yes but did you remember your wife’s boyfriend birthday tho
Didn’t this guy give this game a 10/10?
No
@@GeraltOfFlorida 9.5?
@@bobby1129 yes he gave it a 9.5. An embarrassment of a review back then
@@JtotheDoubleL i don't mean that i think this game is a 8.8. i mean it like how influencers and internet can truly change your perspective. I will always prioritize reviews that aren't influenced by outside opinions so reviews before the game launches for example. Thats why when ever a game comes out i really want to play i never look at reviews until after i beat it to see what my unfiltered opinion on the game is.
And his opinion has changed over time and experience, and he's owning that fact. This review would indicate like a 6.5
The very lazy marketing of it, and the total lack of hype for it and even just the announcement of it was super tame, and didn't look like something I'd jump right into without seeing reviews first. It's resembling a Horse Armor DLC for ES4 Oblivion so far
imagine having the budget and team to do WHATEVER you want, you make a dramatic space epic RPG from one of THE names in RPG's, and its boring and empty with nobody playing or caring. . .way to go.
ty
If they eventually add space travel between solar system planets (with new tech introduced in the lore), that would be a game changer 🚀🪐
You cant build a house on sand Paul.
Or a video game.
Is this game still here?
Yes
Bethesda isn't what they used to be. Maybe it's time to fire Todd.
I am 8 hours in and haven't finished everything. A lot of time in game and worth the notice for me personally. Also happy the whole dlc is one planet. Sad the boss is lame and not much horror after the first mission on space station
i would love for them to perfect the outpost system.
ultimately i am of the opinion that this game has an identity crisis. It has elements that make it seem like a simulator yet you have super powers. either have fun with it and break some expectations or make it a better simulator.
Love the thumbnail. 😁
So it's the Nuka World DLC from Fallout 4?
Nuka World added way more than SS
i have unlimited band width and im not wasting any of that downloading this.
This guy sucks
This game is and will always be a 6/10.
I've been enjoying it! The game is still needing some work to line out technical issues, but this DLC is a breath of fresh air and it is really interesting. I understand that it isnt for everyone.
I agree, liking it so far.
what da f...your movement is complete diferent from what i experienced in game! my character always do a little "wable" when i stop the movement (in any direction) it's like the head of the character do a small "whiplash", same with aiming, its like i'm always fighting the mouse, it simple doesn't stop where i want....it became unbearable to me and i quit the game. (don't happen on other fps games!)
I've got no faith the Elder Scrolls will be worth anything anymore
Loot in Fallout 3\4 was not garbage. Finding a legendary weapon in a chest somewhere or getting fancy gear from a quest was very exciting.
More dog water for the ocean of dog water we’ve had as of late
Damn, not Paul Tassi
Its so hilarious watching you dunk on Starfield now after giving it an almost perfect 9.5/10 at launch.
Credibility in the toilet lol
I'll wait til it's under $10
This looks like a rip-off of Red Faction.. the game that was supposed to be Descent 4 before they changed it into something different and it sucked.
Not played for so long, downloaded for this dlc and all planets on maps look like chupa chups with text on them, and I’m encumbered 😂 no idea what to sell or dump it’s been that long
really enjoy this dlc
i played this and i quite liked it the graphics are really good i mean really good but it was to short i am looking to see if theres anything else in it people wanted worlds not a world i mean the graphics are good no one can say there not but your right there is just not enough content and with mod creators going to creation club well that means less free stuff i got some of the new weapons i tried the weapons in the dlc there okay not ground breaking the laser minigun was interesting i love the visual effects i really do so much they could do with this game its got that going for it but its just got no content besides that great visuals great graphics dlc was okay great graphics though gun play is very good its a great game i mean it could be thats my opinion
Wasted my money on this game
Why should they change anything in the DLC. YOU gave this game a 9.5 upon release. Yes your initial review did not age well.
For someone who praised Starfield at launch I'm confused why the issues you mentioned now matter but didn't before
Because Paul’s takes blow with whatever wind he thinks is “in” at the time. He has no actual thoughts of his own, and instead chases validation via trends. So obvious
@@richardconforti6271 couldnt have said it better myself. Paul "9.5/10" Tassi, The Fair Weather Reviewer.
so it wait for a sale got it, at least it is not outright no .
It's so over when even a guy who notoriously gave Starfield a 9.5/10 doesn't like the dlc
Procedural generation ruined Bethesda
This game is cooked. It's gone from medium rare mediocrity at launch to burnt mess. At this point Elder Scrolls 6 could be bloated garbage.
this looks like a ps4/xbox one game
Thanks for the review, I will make sure to avoid this game entirely, I’ll just go back to No Mans Sky. It’s a better space game
When I reached level 5 in the game I found a random roll pistol that could kill anything in the game, and set them on fire to boot. From then on the game was an absolute slog and cakewalk. So hard to believe that the game never really was balanced considering how much time it was worked on and how many people worked on it.
narts
Basically if you like Starfield, its pretty good. If you didn't, this wont change your mind.
Just play skyrim....
surprise suprise you never liked the game anyway so why would you like the DLC. whatever
dead game, trash game
I do think this game can do a Cyberpunk or No Man’d Sky level comeback, but it isn’t gonna happen overnight, but I’d hate to see the potential here squandered
what possibly makes you think bethesda is capable of that lmfao they havent shown competence in a very long time
@@wizardd Fallout 76 went from catastrophic dogshit, into an actual game. Starfield has a LOT of work to do, but it isn’t rotten to the core, and that’s proved by the day 1 reactions where people saw something in the game, even if it didn’t last.
