This is probably my very much favorite tune of the 4 Seasons, besides, "My eyes adore you, and,Ronnie. They're wonderful!!! Especially since I grew up with them just starting High School and also hearing them when I was 14 Yrs.old!! One of the best Summers I had, ever!!!
I just saw the play a week ago. Local theater. My cousin playing Tommy. Prior, I kinda knew the music. Now, it's all I want to hear. Finding myself becoming a big fan of their sound. I missed it the first time around. This was my mom's music era.
I have loved listening to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons ever since I was a little boy. I know he is still doing concerts and I wish I could see him while he's still performing. I wish I had the money to see him, no matter where he's playing, but I just can't afford it.
This band was and remains so next level. It was hard to differentiate back in the AM top 40 days..they almost seemed irrelevant and overplayed. So great..the themes are timeless
Absolutely smashed it guys. I listened to it 3 times the same as the detriot spinners singing it & they were good but you definitely take the title with writing it.Timeless classic.
Franki's voice and songs are like no other artists..this was #9 then 14 years later, the Spinners made it #1 in the UK and #2 in America..I don't know another song thats done that except maybe Tracy Chapmans Fast Car (35 years later)..by the way The 4 Lovers(right before they became the Seasons) in 1960 were told "no🫤"by a bowling alley they were trying to get gigs at in Union Township, NJ(practically Newark)..name of the bowling alley was The Four Seasons..less than 2 years later Sherry is #1..so you can go from not good enough for a bowling alley rejection to #1 song in America in less than 2 years. Dont believe people that tell you, you aren't talented, that could never make you millions to begin with.
Thanks so much for posting. It's so great so see and hear all this era stuff, because I've only heard the audio in the past. Now I'm able to both hear and see, I feel privileged. I just hope for all songs of the era, people make arrangements to keep them up and running for the future
Absolutely smashed it guys. I listened to it 3 times the same as the detriot spinners singing it & they were good but you definitely take the title. Well sung.
The key change near the end is the best part of this song. Also… Does anybody know where the drummer is? Was the drummer part of the four seasons? I assume so but…
One of my favorite basslines to play(as a bass player). The bass player that you're hearing in the record(this is a pre-recorded backing track), is Charles Calello, the 4 Seasons' arranger(very talented guy). The bass player in the video however is Joe Long, who was also a very good bass player(4 seasons never had a shortage of good musos did they?)
@@jessiem276 Frankie is touring right now! I just saw him in Detroit a few days ago. Just look up Frankie Valli tickets and it should show you the show closest to you
Great to see them performing this live. But are they? I think Frankie is singing live, but is the rest of the band playing or faking it? I hear the horns that don't appear on stage, not to mention no drummer. I think it's a combination of live, recorded parts, and lip-syncing. The band might be playing their instruments but lip-synching the background vocals + recorded drummer/ horns. It's possible it's all live, with drummer/horns offstage. Does anyone know how they used to do it back then?
The thing that's really amazing is hearing an orchestra that we can't see! When that concert clip was shot organs didn't have that kind of music producing ability. Do you hear drums? If so where is the drummer? A great band but as a musical group quite incomplete!
The only real live sound is Frankie's vocals. The rest of the vocals AND music is from the original studio tracks. It's being played over the loud speaker. So, basically, everyone is faking playing and singing except for Frankie and he sounds amazing of course.
@@russblack443FYI, it was Charles Calello who played bass on the recording of this song not Joe Long: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Working_My_Way_Back_to_You
@@russblack443 Yes, I know… My reply was to inform that there was an intermediate bass player between Nick Massi and Joe Long. Some folks aren’t aware of that.
1:08 the way he switches from falsetto to chest voice is so impressive! Such a smooth transition!
FR!
This was clean too! 2:03
They don’t make musicians like this anymore
It seems every time they sing live they nail it 100%. Fabulous
Like the Beatles, they spent a lot of years singing in clubs and before making it. They were accomplished musicians, each and every one of them.

This vocal is LIVE folks. Without QUESTION one of the absolute greatest and most unique singers that will ever draw breath on this earth.
This is why folk should watch the superb Jersey Boys, the movie or the stage shows, both are absolutely brilliant.

Just saw it in Vegas, absolutely loved it!!
Love The Music For 55 Years Love Listening To Frankie And The Four Season And The Band
One of my favorites bands and songs. A great American band. Thanks for the music and memories.
One of the most inexplicably powerful & eternal demonstrations of "COOL" the rock and roll charts ever witnessed.
Remembering my youth is easy with Frankie ,not mention nostalgic 😊
I didn't realize they had so many hit songs.
Yep. They were huge.
Such a sound tribute to the style of the Four Toos, the Spinners had their biggest hit of the Eighties with a cover in dance music style.
Joe Long so joyous! and Bob Gaudio, too cute! Love the 4 Seasons.
Joe took over as bass guitarist when Nick Massi left.
That looks like an old Ampeg bass- and a lefty no less! Old style 'scroll' headstock and F holes in the body. That's a rare instrument for sure.
Woke up this morning with this one playing in my head. Still a fave from childhood. Frankie Valli will be 90 this May! …my how time has gone by 🕰🎶❤️
Always great !!! There's not another that comes even close.

Joe long the best!!! That's our bass man.
The Spinners. I like their version.
The Four Seasons was the 1st to sing it. It was their song... 1966.
Comparison is the thief of joy.

Definitely all track except Frankie. Pretty common practice on TV in those days. But, make no mistakes, these cats delivered live.
Ah sweet!!

Who is the left-handed bass player?
Joe Long,he was the second Bass player. He took Nicky's place. He was with the four seasons till the 70's

I like the Spinner's version! Their song is more danceable and the man with the deep down base tone has a very distinct voice! 👏♥️🫰🏻
Two fake guitar players, one superb keyboard player and one of the greatest on vocals
This is good, but Disco version by Spinners was absolutelly stunning
Oh fantastic..but spinners version do sound better..
The Derroit Spinners cover version is better 😂
Nicky left.
