- Are you thinking about visiting Austin and want to know what there is to do? If so this video is for you! Our time in Austin is coming to an end and we thought we should put together a video that categorizes what makes Austin so unique. Hopefully this video encourages you to come check out this great city as well as gives you ideas of what to do while you are here.
This video is broken down into five main categories: Food, Music, nightlife, outdoors, and history.
Food: Austin is a city that offers every type of food. When you visit you will be able to find any type of food that you are looking for. While you are in Austin, make sure to eat at a food truck and check out some BBQ. In the video we check out Micklethwait and Franklins bbq .
Music: Austin is known as the live music capitol of the world. Some popular names that started in Austin are Ghostland Observatory, Janis Joplin, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and many more. If you like music, Austin is the place you want to visit to get your fix.
Austin Music Calendar: bit.ly/2niAdFE
Nightlife: Austin has more bars per person than any other city in the united states. As a result you can find any type or style of bar you could imagine. In the video, we discuss the four main districts (2018). East sixth, Dirty Sixth, West Sixth, and Rainey street.
Outdoors: Austin is an easy city to be active in. There are many parks, rivers, and lakes to explore. A few of our favorite places are lady bird lake, Barton spring pool, the green belt, lake Travis, lake Austin, and the hope graffiti wall. The new location for the hope graffiti wall is supposed to be at: 9507 Sherman Rd. It is supposed to open at the end of 2018, but double check before heading there to make sure it actually exists!
History: Austin is full of rich history. If you visit we recommend visiting the bullock museum and the Texas state capitol.

Expedia, Tripadvisor, Cable travel shows. NONE have made it as clear, short, sharp and to the point with good information as yours.
Thanks mate.
This. I fully agree.
Great video! But as a born and raised Austinite, don’t call it “Barton Creek Pool” 😂 It’s Barton Springs.
Thank you so much for this great video! It is the best I have seen on Austin! Great job!
Going to Austin this weekend with my wife. This video was the best as far as information and being clear and strait to the point. Good job!

Austin Native here! Hula Hut and Mozart's are great places to hang with great views and grab a bite or coffee. Especially during the holidays...
MT Bonnell is amazing views as well!:)👌
Great video! Very informative. I'm going to Austin in a few weeks and i'm going to do the Orca Trip Austin tour; except for the bbq place because I'm not about the 4+ hour wait lines haha.
Let me tell you, if you are going to Austin Don’t wait in a stupid line at Franklins which is good, but there are many other places that are better and less crowded.
Salt lick is so much better than franklins.
@@Medicranger salt lick is nasty, too salty
Just went to austin. Blacks or terry blacks is is outstanding

BLACKS BBQ is just as good and wayyyy less crowded

I have been everywhere in Texas but Austin is my favorite city in Texas
Great job on making the video, there was a few things on here that I didn't know
Hey man, I found your channel by accident looking up info for an inflatable kayak. Enjoying your videos. Great video about Austin!
Im moving there and this video really helped. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Orca Trip, I definitely recommend making a Pt 2 and adding the original Alamo Drafthouse to the guide. See some classics on the big screen with some beer and BBQ and learn some history about film as well since they project most films in 35-60mm projectors
I really enjoyed this. 😃
Excellent video!
It was so much fun making this video but it took so long to put film it all! Glad it came out good :)
Very Informative, good effort.
Been wanting to visit Austin, this is best video ive seen about the great city
Come. I moved here 2 years ago and it's the best place I've ever lived. Best shows by far here!

Bars everywhere!!That's a lot of bars! I'll have to stay there for a couple of months at one point and enjoy the good vibe and the good food!Guys two videos in one day!? :D It's good to see you both back at it!
We would love to hang out with you guys!
Speaking as a true born and raised tejano, can i just say that Austin is my hometown and is an awsome place to visit. Theres cool music, friendly people, very nice rivers and parks. We got it all here, but PLEASE STOP moving HERE! The last thing im sure anyone wants is for austin to be like LA and its already getting there. We were a small city with a hip blues and rock and roll vibe. But too many Californians are changing this city and not for better either. Besides that, welcome to texas and God Bless.
No im sorry what i mean to say is that ever since the first californian resturant opened here ( I cant remember the name ) thats when a lot of things got pretty bad. Like the forcing of bike lanes laws, heavy traffic that didnt exist before, removing historical statues/names downtown, and now the talk about changing the name from Austin to Waterloo. Its just ridiculous. I dont want to not welcome any one to this awsome city but when a swarm of people try to come in here and mess with your hometown its almost a crime.
Wtf??
Dude I feel the exact same way living in Colorado. Californians flocking here to try and ruin this state like they did theirs, stay away please! 😂
Nice very good
"Awesome Austin!" That is what it should be called. :-)
you missed the warehouse district. Also, the s.congress district. Also, the Domain district.
As an Austinite I approve 👏. Totally going to trust you guys on other cities!
Love Austin o yes
This is #dope
I saw you guys there at the spary paint place
Great information about Austin !
A blend of recent history and swimming: Robert Redford learned to swim in Barton Springs - his grandparents lived here in Austin. 🏊
Nice dear friend
Moving there next month. Looking forward to it.
Any suggestions on places to live outside the city?
What’s your email bruh

Check out Waco
I think something worth noting is that 6th street is super bad at night! Everyone who lives in Austin knows how it is
Go to dovesprings nice place to visit:)
Great video! How long do you think this took you to make? I'm thinking of doing one for Fort Worth. Very underrated city.
I am a multigenerational Austinite, but it is getting too expensive and real locals (like myself) are being pushed out. I see Fort Worth as a great option for my future, some of my family has already moved there. How do you think the transition would be?
What's the song at the beginning?
Austin has more food trucks than any city that I've been. Alot of them serve good food.
I lived in Austin for along time I still love it 😍 miss it a lot . But now I live in El Paso it's ok 👌🏼 but it's not Austin. 🙁
Elodia Pedraza there’s nothing in El Paso
What if ur gluten free and vegan ? Can u still survive in Austin ?
I should play Austin.
I want see Austin city

When I lived in Austin I used to drive around and give the homeless people water!

The cheesesteaks at 2:03?? Where?
Oh ok. Thanks
GET out! they were waiting on line for 4 hours??? that is insane
I was. Orn and raised in Austin. I remember watching the sniper at the UT tower in 1966. There is mo mentioning of the gentle rolling hills, the lakes, or the capitol. 6th street is geared up for UT students and filled with crappy bars and bands. The bars come and go in this distracted. The reason is because of alcohol violations, watered down drinks, and they go out business due to mismanagement. I have seen so many bars come and go. This district used to be the the warehouse district. Austin used to be a cool, friendly, and laid back but not so much anymore. Austin became known as the "live music capitol" because of Willie Nelson and Jerry Jeff Walker. What they did was bridge the gap between rock and country music. SXSW is overrated. This came about in the 80's. There used to be an event known as Aquafest which promoted the lakes. They used to have hydroplane boat races but were banned bevauuse of noise. As far as food is concerned BBQ is king in Austin. There is more but thats all for now.
I am a multigenerational Austinite, and I loved Aquafest!!
If you're a resident and have been a resident for some time of the Austin/Bastrop-Smithville area , you know tourists can be annoying af
Loved that rack w/o ribs!
the art gallery/ graffiti wall is now no trespassing and shut down.
@@OrcaTrip that i havent looked into but it does look like it will be pretty neat
The graffiti park actually got closed down
Houston is next
Orca Trip alright that BBQ sounds good
you are welcome to visit, but please do not move here :)
Rudy's bbq, bone daddy's, fish daddys.
I would never EVER stand in line for 4 hours for BBQ. That's just weird.
Omg at 7:34!
You’re welcome gents
@@OrcaTrip Eggs, plural
She's fucking STACKED.
Don’t waste your time with franklins there so much bbq places that’s a tourist trap.
What's your favorite bbq spot?
Thank You!
Dons bbq, vics bbq, and sams bbq are all amazing. Small family owned and atmosphere for sure. Locals go to these places more than tourists. All have amazing bbq and sides and no hour(s) long waits.
I really appreciate your recommendation! I will check them out :D
We call it bar ba que not barbie q
wtf is orca trip
@@OrcaTrip Well stated. I lived in Austin from 2011-2015 then lived in San Diego, the Chicago before moving back to Austin a few months ago. Somethings have stayed the same but so much else has changed. I appreciated your video. One of the things I hope to do this time around is actually explore the city and have fun like a tourist instead of just chasing a career, a paycheck, and school.
First thing to do if you’re thinking to visit Austin - don’t. go to Colorado instead.
You lost me at "higher concentration of bros."
This is a joke I lived in Austin from 1998 to 2010 and everything out of this dudes mouth is lost. If this is what Austin is now then I am cryin
Me too bud
I've just moved back and it's gone through so many changes and will probably continue. Most of the original Austinites seem to have moved to the outskirts or suburbs surrounding Austin. It's alittle sad that the city is having a lot of growing pains due to rapid expansion and population explosion.
Been in 12 States and many cities in the USA,but Austin TX ....omg...is the weirdest, moody bipolar 2 faces
First of all, this guy ain't from Texas, if he pounces Pecan, as Pee-can....It's prounced, Puh-cahn,,,,...And he recommended Franklin's bbq. NOT THE BEST IN AUSTIN, BY FAR......
This guys a joke!
