  • This is an evolution of my previous Capybara build redesigned with SAL-6830 engines. These engines give higher engine/maneuvering thrust compared to the previous Poseidon DT230 engines. The ship comes in at two meters longer in length than the Mark I but is two meters shorter in width so it is essentially the same size in square meters.
    I've included the baseline cargo rating in the title in response to feedback that my previous title was clickbait for only including the skill-improved cargo rating.

    For fuel tanks, if you have starship design 4, there is a fuel tank that is the same weight 25 but 2x the range. It would still fit nicely on the design but save you 50 weight

      You are right! This is what the internet is so good for! And I do have Starship Rank 4 (new tanks save 22 tons btw, not 50). The M50 Ulysses He3 tanks each hold 250 fuel and weigh 25 tons. Old tanks give me 400 fuel for 72 tons. That translates to a 25% increase in fuel capacity while being 30% lighter. My goal is to shed enough weight to have cargo containers on the back landing gear on BOTH sides; not just the one side it currently has. Ok let's crunch the numbers:
      The ship has a hard limit of 4275 tons. Anything past that drops the mobility to 99. The ships old config weighed 4267 tons. 4267-22=4245. 4275-4245=30 extra tons to play around with after upgrading the fuel tanks. Unfortunately that still isn't enough to add a second cargo container to the other side of the ship (I must have symmetry!). Ok a little digging and I see there is a slightly less heavy cargo container; the DeGamma 1000. It's 44 tons. Let's delete the old single 200CM cargo container that weighs 52 tons and add two of the Degamma 1000's. 4245-52+44+44=4281. We are now just 6 tons overbudget. I check my cockpit and realize i have the Cabot C4 which is the heaviest of the Cabot variants at 19 tons. The Cabot C3 is only 14 tons; a savings of 5 tons. 4281-5= 4276. We are now just 1 ton over our limit. But wait! There are two unused Horizon weapon mounts on the forward landing gears. I had planned to add a ComSpike and Conduction Grid to them later. Each mount weights 1 ton each. Delete them and we get 4276-1-1=4274. We are now 1 ton under budget on weight!
      Ok the old cargo rating was 8325. We lost 265 tons by deleting the 200CM cargo hold. We also lost 40 tons by downgrading the cockpit to the Cabot C3. But we also added 2 degamma 1000 cargo holds that have 210 tons each. So 8325-265-40+210+210=8460. 8460-8325= 135 ton addition to the max cargo load which translates into a 1.6% increase (and we now have symmetry!). Also the new tanks look better than the old ones. Not sure how/why I missed them during my build. Also I still have the future problem of where to get the extra 2 tons for the comspike and the conduction grid but I'll worry about that later.

      @LastMumzy lol i did not realize such a small suggestion would snowball into such an enormous increase in performance. I honestly thought you were trolling and the link was going to be a middle finger. 😆

      I agonized on how to get two cargo containers on the sides instead of just the one. I appreciate the help with the build! BTW if you want to watch me get really silly check out my latest Ugly Duckling video. I threw aesthetics out the window and made the ship significantly smaller while yet again increasing the cargo another 40t pushing the total to 8500 (14726 with skills) @@jere7bear792

    Im really tired of huge ships. This has everything i need and nothing else. Thanks for the inspiration!

      Thanks! Building small ships really makes you think hard about how to efficiently use every ton of mass. I spent the entire night trying different configurations before settling on what you see here.

    This is PERFECT LastMumzy. Or it might be... I need to build and check first which I'll be doing momentarily. One thing I absolutely have to build into every ship is a berth right by the ship exit - so I can get the XP boost from sleeping with my companion for an hour before setting out on the current mission.
    The only other slight disadvantage to your otherwise excellent compact design is the increased running/boosting distance to get to it on a landing pad..! 😆

      You can swap out one of the habs for either a Captains Quarters or a all-in-one if you need a bed. Keep in mind that will reduce your crew size to 6. If that doesn't work you can check out the Capybara Mark I. It has more hab space available for customization: ua-cam.com/video/KECts9-orIU/v-deo.html

    So, if you haven’t completed the Ryujin quest line the engines are a no go ?
    What could you use that isn’t terrible mobility?😅

    • @LastMumzy
      @LastMumzy  9 місяців тому

      The mission to get the SAL-6830's doesn't come from Ryujin. It comes from Walter Stroud himself as you progress through the main Constellation questline (and pretty early on if I remember correctly). So in the meantime; since the ship in this video is the Mark II version of the Capybara I'd suggest just building the Mark I version instead. You can find my build guide here ua-cam.com/video/KECts9-orIU/v-deo.html

      I honestly don't know since I've made so many changes to it over time. This ship was an upgrade from a previous ship I had already built (the Capybara Mark I). I'm sure I have over a million credits into it by now.

    What are those weapons? They deleted your enemies lol

    • @LastMumzy
      @LastMumzy  9 місяців тому

      All particle beam weapons. I'm' actually a bit sad that Bethesda made the particle weapons overpowered because there is absolutely no reason to use anything else. I've actually been messing around with lasers a bit lately even though they don't do as much damage but I just wanted to change things up a bit.

      @@LastMumzy thank you for the quick reply! i think i'll try to build your ship on my next NG+ ive been growing increasingly frustrated with losing my ships and yours seems like a really quick, efficent and good looking build!
