When I was a teenager I worked at an ice retail dock that also sold watermelons. The varieties that were sold were black diamond, Charleston grey, and a few seedless. They were trucked from the Rio Grande Valley to north central Texas. A truck would pull up and off to sell watermelons and the manager would agree and buy a hundred or so. Then we started unloading them with a chain of men pitching them from the truck to the ice dock and into the storage room. Strangely, we always dropped the last one and had to eat it to prevent waste.

Not because of what they are doing, but seeing how their minds and hearts are, how they just want to help with information for us and food for their community. Btw... is it me, or does it seem Hollis is a really mellow cat? I can imagine NOTHING in this world bothering him! Lol!

Hey, I love watching you all in your garden! Wish I had recognized my love for gardening when I was younger. Recently had an opportunity to move to farm country next door to my sister and we have started a larger garden together. What used to take one of us to get the job done now takes two! I am enjoying every moment spent in the garden next year we are starting a small orchard and building a green house to expand our efforts. Please keep posting videos, often times I don’t t have time to read so I always refer to your videos for advice and instruction. Such a wonderful couple and Bing Bing adds a touch of sweet nostalgia for us having had Jack Russell’s in the family. God bless you and keep you safe.

It's not something we get to do here in the UK due to not having the heat, but I watched one of your older videos yesterday, from your previous property, where you grew Korean/Oriental Melons... sorry, I don't remember what you called them, as I'd not seen them referred to with that name before... as I'm giving them a go, hoping that being smaller I may get away with out short season if I trellis them against a West facing wall I have. One thing I love about your videos is how much information you're willing to share with people, thank you xx

My granddaddy was a watermelon farmer back in the 70s and 80s...the rattlesnake was one of his favorites. The melons were huge. The men hated harvest season...lol But, the best tasting melon Ive ever had. Sure miss em. Personally, I feel the melons with seeds are sweeter, more flavor and lots of fun to eat😃

I always chuckle when I see your huge fences, I realize your keeping out deer....or dinosaurs? You both hit the mother load of Black Kow!! Thank you for this tutorial on watermelon, I always wondered how the seedless varieties were grown.
Oh I had a question, instead of blood meal could I use alfalfa meal for nitrogen?

I found your channel last night and watched several of your videos, and today we (me and my husband) went to Home Depot and bought everything you were using and 5 gallon buckets to try your potato growing recommendation...so I came back home and am doing to seeding, planting, etc for the greenhouse...and I watched this video bc I found these Rattlesnake Watermelon seeds at HD...I came to sit down in front of my computer to choose another video of yours since this one ended and there was the scripture you shared at the end of this video. Psalms 91: 9-10...I am doing all this planting, growing and learning to take care of my family bc I can see the writing on the wall. I've been talking with God a lot lately and I have an issue with handing him my worries and letting him handle them....I am a worrier...lol. God used your channel to talk to me today. I'd never heard that scripture before and it was the exact word I needed today as I am panic planting and stocking up and canning, etc etc etc....I felt a calm come over me when I read that. Thank you both so much! God Bless you both. ~Kelly

Wow! What a great donation of Black Kow! You guys are set for awhile! I haven't had much luck growing watermelon in the past, mostly due to pests, but I am gonna keep trying!

Of course you can grow melons in Florida, but here in western Washington state its way to cold and summer is too short to grow them.

Amazing how different people go about planting. We seed out our watermelon around February 20th in greenhouses and drop them 2ft apart in rows 4 to 5 ft apart around march 15th.I personally only grow jubilee to sell at market, and it just goes to show ya how different we all are and I'm sure yall had a great harvest. But me, I'd have kept those Georgia rattlesnakes for eating and fed those seedless to my chickens!😂
