On the day he died, Japanese radio station FM Tokyo aired his songs for 24 hours. RIP from Japan
A nice tribute from a honourable race of like minded people 🇬🇧👍
Something happened on the day he died, spirit rose a metre, then stepped aside...
Child in Time is a masterpiece! Epic vocals and keyboard !
Yes, epic.
Ian Gilan was the vocals Jon Lords is the keyboardist you dont know the DP individual duties of the band.
Deep Purple live in Sydney circa 1975..!!.at Hordern PAVILLION. The band walks on stage and starts to tune up..!!...I'm standing front row left of stage directly in front of Glover...!!..his bass went right through me, I could feel my internal organs shaking...unbelievable volume...Never felt that before or since....Now at Jon's feet, during "Speed King"..he notices me getting hammered against the stage, and after the song, tosses me a full can of coke with a wink..!!..I opened it and it sprayed everywhere, but tasted great. Must have been a generous guy, as he could see this 17 year old was in trouble...!!..I'll never forget the way he hammered his organ, made it squeal.....unforgettable.....Love you Jon Lord....thanks for the drink, and the memory....I am 66 now...!!
Wow what an amazing memory to have shared with Jon 🤗💕 Thanks so much for sharing! 😁👍💯
Jon's signature organ tone, is the best in the business. Making Purple recognizable playing any song...
I first met Jon in 1964. Lovely and friendly man.
The greatest keyboard player ever. RIP Jon.
I immersed myself in hours and hours of Deep Purple for years. I would place 5-6 albums on the record player and they would play, drop play drop and then I would turn the entire stack upside down and play through them all again. Jon Lord's playing was a huge part of my life and inspiration to want to form America's version of Deep Purple. I never got there but I was involved early on in Heavy Metal long before it became mainstream starting in 1975. Ritchie was my hero and I ended up with 4 Marshall full stacks by the time I was finished. Marshalls make all the difference. I first saw Deep purple in 1972 about a month or two before they headed to Japan. I remember the stacks of Marshalls on the stage and the roar inside the coliseum. He was the greatest and his playing will last as long as the world lasts.
Rest in Peace Jon Lord.Thank you for your talent.
There's a pre-set button on my Hammond called 'Purple' and clearly tries to replicate Jon Lord's industrial sound. That's some recognition of his contribution to the world of organ music. Great tribute by the way.
What a great band, machine head made in japan is the greatest live album of all time. RIP JL.
Absolutely Made In Japan is the Greatest Live Album ever recorded. I can listen to it and never get tired of listening to it.
I am now 76 I remember the 'Deep Purple at the Albert Hall' I was 20 years old? The the great days!
Jon lord and deep purple had a huge impact on my growing up in the early 70s. As a teenager in 68 the great keyboards and superb vocals of ian gillian will stay with me till the end of time. John was a thoroughly nice bloke. Sadly missed but never forgotten. RiP.
couldn't agree more one of the all time greats
His work in modifying and developing the B3 into a true rock sound from a church organ sound was nothing short of revolutionary!! A true pioneer in rock keyboards RIP🙏
His Hammond was a C-3 that he nicknamed "The Beast."☮🎹🎹✌
@@davidmccall4776 right 👍same guts as the B 3. I had a C3 with the 122 Leslie that I sold and I kicked myself for doing that every day. I wish I still had that unit.
@@ray8304I know what you mean, I bought Steve Walsh's old C-3, and though I've thought about selling it, I'm sure I'd regret it immediately. There's no sound like a Hammond tonewheel running through a Leslie. BTW, my comment wasn't meant to be pissy, and I hope you didn't take it that way. ☮🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹✌
@@davidmccall4776 certainly not quite to the contrary, I’m glad you pointed that out because it reminded me of the fact that I owned the same animal as one of the most legendary keyboard players of all time. I listen to a lot of his work and try to the best of my ability to comp. his chops , but he was really next level and it’s always a work in progress lol 😂 👍. Cheers 😎
@@davidmccall4776 as a follow up to that conversation I’m sure you know that when you overdrive the standard set up with the volume pedal it already has that unmistakable growl, so he took it one step further when they adapted the Marshalls to keep up with Blackmore’s guitar sound. Very cool indeed 👍
RIP ICON FOREVER

Mr Lord is a true legend........It says it all..Respect.
Great musician👑💯 His music is wonderful🎹 ❤❤❤ RIP Jon. Deep Purple forever✌️🇰🇿
A great artist,very sorely missed.R.I.P. Jon.👏👏👏👏
LAZY from Machine Head. One of my all time favourites.
Jon Lord and Ray Manzarek my favs of that era 🤠
I agree with you picks but would add Keith Emerson to the list...my favorite was Lou Martin from The Rory Gallagher Band. "Irish Tour 74" and Deep Purple's "Live in Japan" are the greatest live high energy rockin' albums.
@@user-co7fb6qe5w Made* In Japan.
True greatness. Got to see him with DP twice. RIP.
Saw Jon playing with Whitesnake back in the 80s ; it remains one of the best gigs that I have ever been to.
I saw them on that tour too, every Whitesnake concert I've been to has been great.
Jon Lord thank you so much for your music and filing
When you playing with Purple and with other bands and symphonic orchestra's and Alone the God is so Lacy to playing to his orchestra
Out of innumerable live recordings featuring Jon Lord’s talents (there’s so many to pick from), the live version of “Black Night” recorded in August 1972 - and which was included as a “bonus track” on some re-issues of “Made in Japan” - would be one of my favs as an illustration of Lord’s “hard rock” organ style. In fact the whole band are “on fire” (as with all of the August 1972 Japan tour). The great thing about “Black Night” is that those not enamoured of extended soloing (they don’t know what they’re missing imo) will have an absolute distillation of the brilliant talents of Jon Lord and colleagues !
The live version of "Black Night" on an old jukebox was the soundtrack of my summers in my teenage years. Made in Japan is still the soundtrack of my entire life, 😉
one of the if not the best live album ever wore out the 1st vinal of tha had to buy a new one

I had the pleasure of meeting him very briefly at London Heathrow Airport in the early 1980s, obtaining his autograph. He was very enthusiastic about his then new band, White Snake!
Great artist,very sorely missed.R.I.P. Jon.❤
Top 3 keyboards in the world 🌎 rip 🙏 Jon Douglas Lord 🙏 😢. He did sessions work for the Kinks. You really got me is Jon, on electric piano.
A giant in rock music history
Very interesting, Jon was a hell of a organ/keyboard player! Nice and tastefully done my friend, showed Jon a lot of respect.
Thank you for your kind words 🥰 I'm so glad you enjoyed it 😁👍
Blackmore would have been great but not greatest without Jon
@@christopherkyle5639 🤣 Oh look, a UA-cam music expert. Why do other guitarists, like Brian May/Steve Vai/Joe Satriani/John Sykes/Jimmy Page , rate him so highly if that's the case? I suppose you know better than all these top rated guitar players, right?🙄
A brilliant musician and a bloody nice bloke.
agreed. even ritchie blackmore liked him! that's saying something.
A great musician, workaholic, who I didn’t know much about until now! Thanks so much for this ton of information about John (Jon) Lord. Perhaps you could do a similar thing about Procol Harum‘s Gary Brooker?
Jon, Lord of the Hammond
Absolutely fantastic have a wonderful day ❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you my friend, enjoy your day 😁🌞🌻
In 2001 or so... I saw one of the few 20 or so DP shows with Jon and Don Airey on keys....
It was a great tandem solo.... starting w/ Jon.... and bleeding into Don.....
Great Purple show....
A legend
Sweet Lord. Jon Lord 💪🎼🎶🎵
Very interesting about John Lord. :)
The very first album I ever bought with my own money which Deep Purple machine headband it’s been my favorite band ever since.. I even got to meet the entire band down in Orlando in the early 90s when they were recording an album in Altamonte Springs the band happened to be hanging out at spirit sports bar in Altamonte Springs Florida.. I was throwing darts with John Lord got to meet Richie Blackmore, but John Lord was really cool. He sat with us for about four hours. I kept buying him drinks told me stories about the band on the road in the early days where he lived his kids what a great guy he was…. The best rockstar experience I’ve ever had. They were really cool people. Nobody was a prick…
Wow what an cherished memory to have! Thank you so much for sharing.
His most interesting play was his play of a mellotron MK2 for Flowers pots mens " San Francisco" ,flûtes part ,early deep purple UP to " in rock" ...
He rocked
He literally did, rocked the Hammond till it almost tipped over. I think he once broke a finger or thumb doing that.
Prayers 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
A TRUE Elder statesman!!!
All time great rocket sure miss him
It wouldn't surprise me if there is a temple, altar, or a shrine for DP in Japan.
Funny. I used to have the LP of 'Made In Japan' in the 70's which I promptly wore out and discarded. Found a CD of the same in the 2k's and turned up missing after I moved to Texas. This year, I ordered the Japanese CD which is renamed 'Live In Japan' but still the same tour. Much more info including a lyric sheet as well. God Bless you Japan!
I have plenty of Dick Pimple recordings but did not see them live. Years latter ( 1990s ) I attended a biker party where Burn a cover band led me to finally appreciate Deep Purple’s extensive playlist.
A bit rushed, but still a very interesting summary. John Lord was an immense musician. His last contributions to Purple really stand out as complex songs when compared to the rest of that great album.
RIP.
Another good one 😎😍
Thank you 🤗💕
👏👏👏 RIP Jon
Cool video if you want to really follow Jon’s career.
✌❤🎶
1st class musician.1st class person. Just watch the interviews with him thru his career. Of course, the rest of DP were true gentlemen as well and then there was that overly awnry banjo player 😅
He look like Wolf in Rock`roll wolf from 1976 ;D
On 15 July 2011, Jon Lord was awarded an honorary Doctor of Music degree at De Montfort Hall by the University of Leicester. ua-cam.com/video/OywSpd2EbPg/v-deo.html
Without Jon Lord, Deep Purple would be mediocre.

met Jon Lord in Leicester in 1981....
thoroughly nice, down to earth bloke....
he saw my whitesnake T shirt....went
out of his way to have a chat....
I live not far from where Jon was born. Oadby in Leicester.
His occult book collection in his home library was to those in the know legion. Maurice Gibb from The Bee Gee's, Bruce Dickenson from Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne and Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin had and still have extensive collections of Aleister Crowley's works. John Lord was referred to as the Master for good reason by those who knew him well enough. This video is bollocks and say's nothing of any merit to me and a few others who know of such things ...G...
I always wondered if Dr. Phibes was modeled on him.
