The most of any persons character I admire, is honesty and Glenn has given me pride to be British, because honesty is a rare thing these days. Bless you Glenn !!!!!
@@MikeHermetic Glenn has been to hell and back. And in his convos with the crowd at shows, all we feel is gratitude and love. It's an amazing comeback story from essentially almost being dead.

Saw Glenn with Deep Purple on the Burn tour when I was very young. My dad took me. August 10th 1974? I still have the ticket somewhere. It was in the Astrodome, it was packed and Deep Purple were loud as fuck! Dio's band Elf opened, so I got to see Hughes, Coverdale and Dio all in one night. Not bad! Btw, Hughes worked the stage like a rock legend. Robert Plant has nothing on Hughes in the rock star frontman category.

I find it utterly astonishing with what Glenn puts his voice through, that you'd never know he is a lead singer, just talking to him. You'd expect his voice by now to be cracked and dry as a dusty bone, but no. And he's STILL got his midlands accent! Love ya Glenn.
It's such a shame, cause Glenn should have been on the level with Ozzy and Ronnie James, but he was always the replacement voice. He should be as important as Ia Gillan or Ozzy, the guy deserves it.
Far superior vocalist!!! Ozzy couldn’t carry a tune to save his life. Dio was a good metal singer but all the same. Glenn can sing anything and still has it. Listen to the newest Dead Daisies album for proof. Voice of rock!!
I was gonna say the same, probably one of the best interviews Loudwire has done. for all the shit he's done good and bad he just lays it out. Classy dude.
Glenn truly looks like he's been there, seen and done it all. It's amazing that he's still well and singing as good as ever. He has that "permanently stoned" thing, which is cool. But he's not slow or fucked up. A true survivor
The two vocalist thing was Ritchie's idea, and it led to a change in direction right at the time he was dealing with divorcing his second wife Barbel (Babs). Stormbringer was David and Glenn's record. Come Taste The Band was Tommy's album, with superb support from Ian Paice.
Glenn Hughes is unbelievable, as not only a bass player singer songwriter playing with deep purple hello, but he is so intuitive and really knows how to play the instrument.
Trapeze was a killer band too. They were funky , heavy and talented. They were like Humble Pie meets Judas Priest . And Glenn is the equal of Halford and Marriott , which is saying a lot
Glenn Hughes is one of the best rock vocalists of all time!! Listen to his work with Tony Iommi on the 1996 DEP sessions, specifically the song "Time is the Healer" .
I love mostly every Deep Purple lineup, but my favorite is and has always been the Mark 3 era. I love listening to both the Burn and Stormbringer albums, and all the live albums that this lineup did, especially Paris 1975 which was Ritchie Blackmore's last show with Deep Purple for almost ten years. Glenn Hughes is a phenomenal lead singer and bass guitar player and I love everything that he has done. There are some Black Sabbath fans that hate The Seventh Star album but I have always loved it and it was not suppose to be a Black Sabbath album but a Tony Iommi solo album. The record label made sure that the name Black Sabbath was on the album just to try and sell more albums because of name recognition. This was an awesome fact or fiction, and Glenn did not hold back at all.
it's funny that a guy from Cannock, which is part of an area called The Black Country gets told by an american band that they came up with the name Black Country. Glenn is a legend! Great interview.
This is probably the only guy from that era godly-status kind, that still acts and looks fresh, not locked in the past like I'd say all of his contemporaries, even the way he speaks, its all about the attitude.
I read years ago that Paul Rodgers was approached about joining Deep Purple, but his response was that he didn't work with "temperamental guitar players" (referring to Blackmore) and that's how DP ultimately wound up with David Coverdale as a singer.
The work Hughes and Coverdale did on their first Deep Purple album 'Burn' was simply phenomenal! They brought so much to a band that at the time, was almost completely burnt out.
I was at that show in Cleveland back in 86, me first Black Sabbath concert! Glenn was struggling with his voice, but it wasn't a bad show, I dug it. He and Tony should've toured Fused, that was a great album!
The more I see the man, the more I like him. He's just a few years older than myself, but still sings like a (rock)god. There are few artist that at his age release music that is still relevant like he does.
Glen's such an amazing legend. Amazing talent and has still a very powerful dynamic voice after all these years. I also agree about Black Country Communion, they're probably my all time favorite super group and definitely a great live band. The live material available to watch is beyond impressive. The level Glenn sings at is very impressive to say the least but great music great songs great band. Its a magical chemistry of musicians and what they produced together is like if Deep Purple and Zeppelin had a baby I guess would be my personal translation of their stuff.

A great interview and a class act all the way! Oddly enough, I first heard about Glenn when he sang on George Lynch's 1993 solo album Sacred Groove and did some background vocals on Motley Crue's self-titled album, and it was from there that I traced his roots back to Deep Purple and his stint with Black Sabbath.

Glenn Hughes is a true rock icon and deserves all the admiration. I've only seen him perform live at a "Tommy Bolin Tribute" Concert that was amazing. He also plays a mean Rickenbaker bass and for me is the best bassist/vocalist after John Wetton and Greg Lake, I'm not mentioning Chris Squire who is by far THE best bassist ever but never claimed the lead vocal title like Glenn does. the concert's highlight was "This time around" that he always has considered as his stamp song. So sad that Black Country Communion did not work out for the long run.
Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction, Tony Iommi. Lot's to say even though he's been vocally active about Sabbath but not enough from his Solo stuff and the album he shelved and released years later.
He may not be cute-looking anymore, but by God, I *_LOVE_* Glenn Hughes. He is truly legendary, and it is so good to see and hear him be so lucid and clear-headed. That man, by all rights, should have been dead before turning 40, and yet here he still is at 67 (will be 68 on August 21st - yes, I just looked it up). #1- Considering how coked-up he had been throughout the 70s and 80s, it is AMAZING how good his memory is. #2 - "I just told them I had over-medicated myself..." - I mean, can we say BADASS!! 😜😆👍🏻 Godspeed, Glenn!! 🤘🏻🎸
