I am not ashamed to say I cried watching this piece of musical brilliance.
One of the most brilliant Prog rock music heard since the seventies
Great musical partnership too
Along with Keith Emerson, these two have taught me a lifetime's worth of music. Bravo guys! RIP Jon & Keith. You are dearly missed.
And Ray Manzarek.
And Ken Hensley.
@@PedroHenrique-pl6mu Loved his album Proud Words on a Dusty Shelf!!
@@jamesedwards2237 People underestimate how heavily jazz Ray and the DOORS were. He was a huge Bill Evans fan, and even sat exactly like him when he played.
That's a triumvirate of awesome British keyboardists.
This was Jon Lord’s final concert appearance due to his pancreatic cancer diagnosis. What do you say for a man who has accomplished so much and deserves so much acclaim. Jon Lord was at the top of his profession and all class when he died. May he Rest In Peace.
Yes indeed! A true class act guy! World lost a fine man and talent when he passed away! I sure as hell don't see anyone comin down the pipe to fill any shoes of him or any of the greats we no longer have around!
Kudos to that man! He is my hero
My two favourite keyboard players together
Jon led me to Rick, Rick led me to Keith.
@Rhizosphere Jon led me to Rick, Rick led me Keith, Keith led me to the john.
Jon Lord, Keith Emerson and Rick Wakeman three Icons,,,,, Legends. Rest in Peace Lord and Keith
Fantastic
Wow ! This collaboration was brilliant ! First time I heard Rick wakeman I was 17 years old. Now I’m 66 years old. I was a member of a music club, and received a Rick wakeman tape in the mail. Been a fan ever since! Thanks for sharing this with us out here in south east Alabama USA ☮️❤️
There will never be people like this again , this is an absolute treat.
Yes & Deep Purple complimenting each other brilliantly
God Bless John Lord Rest In Peace . Great stuff Rick and John , John and Rick .
Jon Lord was simply a Force of Nature on the Hammond B3, very missed. RIP Maestro.
It was a C-3
Absolutely he was , just like Wild Bill Davis , and Jimmy Smith. Legendairy organplayers!
I was always a Deep Purple fan, but I was a bit of a prog snob and never allowed myself to think of Wakeman and Lord as on the same level. Well, probably Wakeman disagreed with me and this Jam says a lot about how good Lord really was.

Sigh... the days when giants of musicianship & rockin talent are behind us but not lost. Thanks to youtube! They are here for us to enjoy even if many have passed on to "the great gig in the sky" RIP 😇 & the world remmbers w/gratitude, as you left such joy&pleasure for the music lovers. 💜😚😎
Two of the best key boardists in the world. What's not to like?
Tragic that these two never got to make the album they had started to discuss. Their musical collaboration was cut short by Jon's illness and untimely death. They had met and become good friends late in their careers. Thankfully this video was made to remember them together. Both legends.
These two boys were cookin with gas!! Two of the three best rock keyboardist ever. RIP Keith Emerson .
No one rocked the Hammond like Jon Lord & Rick Wakeman is a true master of the minimoog.
Once again proving the best music comes from real musicians no auto tune bs!
Two of the best rock gods on stage together. Incredible music! It's gonna be a sad, sad day when Rick follows Jon and Keith into keyboard heaven.
Jon Lord was the first killer keyboardist I heard when I was about 12. Rick Wakeman and Keith Emerson I discovered a couple years later. Still great in their later years.
Emerson (The Nice) first for me, wouldn't like to rate them now, no point really
Enjoyed this as well!
2 of the greatest, most innovative Rock Keyboard Players ever. Amazing to see them on the same stage. Mindblast!!!! RIP John Lord.
Wish we'd seen more of them playing together - two note-for-note legends, the likes of which we will probably never see again.
Two of the greatest ever, but slight edge to Wakeman, his utter brilliance kicks in at about 3:45, so distinct.
Yeahbut... Wakeman has like umpteen keyboards, Lord just has his classic B3+Marshall stack. Wakeman owns perhaps the best known Hammond solo in the world (Roundabout). Lord was simply a shredding machine. He himself said he did his solos in one take because it was never as good the second time around. Rick strikes me as more of the college boy and Jon is an animal. Room for both at the top. This jam kicks ass. Wish I could find the DVD without paying an arm and a leg but it's OOP.
I've seen both groups and Jon Lord blows wakeman away!
@@terrymccoy5609 Two different players from two different types or music. Yes vs Purple. Comparisons not needed. Both stellar players with respect for one another. One an all out rocker loaded with hardcore talent. The other sunk in a progressive \ classical \ orchestral blend background routing many synths masterfully. Just two A+ keyboard players giving you some ear food.
Why have I never heard of this??? The two best...my favorite, Mr. Lord, and Rick Wakeman. Unbelieveable.
Wonderful to see the spontaneity of music being created by true artists.
Holy crap Jon Lord the Hammond Master and Rick Wakeman is way too much for me to handle together on one stage, This is one of the best jams I have heard in a while. I can listen to this all day long.
Rick Wakeman master of Mini Moog!
Whoa mama, love this💖
The styles and sounds of these two masters are unique yet complimentary
It's too bad they never recorded an album together that would have been epic.
My thoughts exactly 😃
Wakeman, Lord & Emerson
Outstanding! I saw DP on the House of the Blue Light tour. Jon Lord absolutely owned the stage. When Richie got mad and walked off the stage Jon never missed a lick. Played his part and Richies part like there was never a guitar part written. It was unbelievable.
Thanks for that. There is one of their appearances on the House of the Blue Light tour on UA-cam but I haven't listened to it yet, so I don't know if it's the one where Ritchie walked off stage.
Ugh! He did that for you too? Blackmore ruined a DP that I went to see because he was jealous that the audience were applauding Jon Lord too much. He has a childish sulk that lasted until the end of the gig, spoiling at every opportunity. I thought initially that perhaps we were at the same gig, but Blackmore didn't leave the stage at the one I was at.
Highway Star meets Journey to the Center of The Earth. I saw Deep Purple open up for Cream in L.A. It was prior to the first album. And the crowd did not know them. So the crowd was talking being rowdy when they came out. Deep Purple opened up with “Hush” The crowd shut up and we’re absolutely blown away, 50 years later and just the thought of it still gives me goosebumps. Thanks. 🙏
A Purple Fan as well as Wakeman fan! But John Lord held a special place in me! You have the Rock guitar gods and you have John Lord! Best keyboard guy I ever seen and heard!
RIP Jon. ..Rick Jon and of course Keith Emerson RIP the holy trinity of modern keyboard
I agree with you 100%
Yes, you're right
Amen.
100 por 100 de acuerdo.

Not forget Brian Auger, Steve Winwood, Rod Argent, Jan Hammer, Ken Hensley, Thijs Van Leer, Peter Bardens, Rick Wright, Greg Rolie, Don Airey, Ray Manzarek, Billy Preston, Booker T. Jones, Joe Zawinul, Chick Corea, Benmont Tench, Jordan Rudess, etc. etc.
Просто поражен!!! Два Гранда, два столпа. Жаль раньше не видел, просто супер! Из разных течений, но... Это уже классика жанра. Поклон ушедшему, уважение живущим!!!!

IF there's a rock n roll heaven, we know who'll be on keys!
Well spoken my friend 👏
I am a jazz musician...BUT this is rock and roll at its finest.
We all have same scales. Its about playing some creative notes outside. ;)
Je suis d'accord avec toi.
I agree with you. I'm not a musician, but this rocked. And your opinion counts a lot for me.
I've been a Yes fan for over 50 years, but Jon Lord was damned impressive - here and with Deep Purple. Both keyboardists were fantastic here. RIP, Mr. Lord.
Two Brilliant Musicians Pure Genius!!!!🎹🎹🎼🎼🎼🎼♥️♥️
Two Keyboard Titans. Awesome.John plays and I am listening Deep Purple; Rick plays, and I am listening Yes.
Great mini moog of rick
i listen to rick and remember his six wives of henry the eight
Two of my top three players. Awesome
Two masters at work, and what a backing band. Makes me smile every time I listen to this. Great stuff!
Hammond + Moog = The dream team !
Wow. This is a privilege to watch on video, but to see it live would have been an epic privilege. Thank you Rick Wakeman ! ❤RIP Jon Lord, God bless❤
Distorted Hammond and a MiniMoog..... the best keyboard music ever
I love them both! Two Giants of rock keyboard and orchestration!Respect!
2 absolute legends! Thanks so much for all the joy you've both poured out into the world!!
Enthralled. Good they finally really met (had them already alongside in my LP cupboard since 195) and played together. What a memorable performance! R.I.P. Jon, and thanks for all the good purple music and fun. Nice to see you in this setting Rick, same thank you as Jon and stay safe these days.
Two legends come together!
Doesn't get any better than that! Ah...the late, great Jon Lord...what a loss. Hard to believe he & Rick waited until Jon's last EVER public performance to play a song together.
Cat Stevens and Rick Wakeman
Absolutely phenomenal! Doesn't get any better than this! Wow!!!
Rick Wakeman Master of Mini Moog and Mellotron Jon Lord & Keith Emerson Master of Hammond Organ
I have never seen something like that...two legends extraordinary......RIP Lord
I have heard them both speak on tv and they are/were both really nice guys, so talented and yet so humble and Rick is funny as well.
Digmen1 ya need to watch his hilarious speech on rush inducting YES into rock and roll hall of fame it's hilarious lmao 😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Just heard this today
So sad Jon has left us
So brilliant to hear him alongside
Rick Wakeman
Thank you UA-cam algorithm. I had no idea Jon and Rick did a show together. Something to behold and cherish.
I met Jon Lord when he was in Whitesnake. They did a promo in a record shop in Manchester. He signed a massive card poster and we chatted whilst walking up Market Street. I'll never forget that. He was a true gent.
Overwhelmed with joy & happiness. Speechless!
Two of my favorite musicians of all time.R.I.P Maestro Jon Lord, and Long live to Rick Wakeman, his humor is fantastic and so his music.
My two icons together on stage. It can't be better. So sorry that Jon has passed away. R.I.P. Jon. You were the greatest. So is Rick.
Best! Super! Great! Beautiful! Пипец!!! Thank you very much!!! ❤❤❤
WOW! If Keith Emerson had stepped on stage i'm afraid my head would have exploded from too much awesomeness
I've always wanted to see Keith Emerson & Rick Wakeman perform together. Keyboard Armagedon!!!
Kings of Hammond unite!

Joshua Entrekin just needs Don Airey to top it off
My Head did explode. 1972 It was my first concert I had ever seen was ELP.. yep pretty sure my head did explode..
Jon Lord is incredible, but Rick Wakeman is LIGHTNING!!
Two faces, two different worlds, two different styles - two amazing KEYBORD-GODS!!!
Thank you for the uploading, and R. I. P. Jon Lord!
RIP Lord, I cant stop playing it....True keyboard legends
so true
Met Rick personally in Munich:
One of the greatest moments in my musical life.
As for John, I loved him from the first time I heard the first DP-LP.
Thanks to both and their co-artists for making so many people truly happy,
RIP and play on eternally for Aneta O'Hara and myself, Helmut.
That was one hell of a ride! Can't take the smile of my face. Now that's Music!!!!
Simply one of the most enjoyable videos I have ever seen on UA-cam. Know alot about Wakeman, not as much on Jon Lord, but my Lord what a collaboration!!
These magicians simply verify that the music in the 70s was miles ahead of now
i agree whole heartily
shut up edgelord
@@Smoomty you cant even argue, the musicianship was insane back then. Most kids making music are doing it for the wrong reasons
@Captain Meemo did you actually say today's music ? How dare you call it music, it's processed shit. Calling today's rhythmic nonsense music is like calling a tv dinner a gourmet meal. Music in 70's people actually played. Today is shit on toast
@@phillatella6470 Mainstream music in the '70s was definitively more complex, but the fact that modern mainstream radio music is becoming very simple is a product of modern technology opening up music to a very big market. People can find what they want on streaming sites on demand. Music just doesn't make the same amount of money as before and therefore mainly large pop artists will be these labels' money makers. If you look beyond radio music though there's are more bands than ever that are willing to do something more complex and interesting! Looking at artists/bands in the prog rock direction that have released in the last 5 years off the top of my head there is Steven Wilson, Plini, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and so on. That's for a genre that (sadly) has gone fairly out of fashion. If you expand to alternative rock it's almost impossible to start, so I think it's worth seeing the good as well as the bad with it all. I for sure wish more people today outside of the music sphere would be open to other music though, so they could appreciate absolute masterpieces like this one!
I adore Rick ❤️ Wakeman! All of his albums. And his participation in the group "Yes".
From Russia with love. Michael.
It's so sad we don't have more moments with these two monsters together... A later meeting but precious!
The two greatest Music Artists of the Keyboards Rick Wakeman and John Lord are on stage. Excellent!!
Never forgotten ! Jon, with your awesome work you have graced the lives of all who had (and have and will) the luck to listen to your music. Rest in Peace 🌷
Only and only a big thank you for the wonderful music that you give to the world !!!
That was a keyboardgasm right there, ladies and gents. Fucking superb.
ууууууу! около 40 лет наслаждаюсь их творчеством!
It was absolutely a mind blowing piece ! Gods were playing....
John is a keyboard monster and his jam with Rick makes us go up to the sky, babe, thank you for all babes.
Jon.
Two masters of music!
holy crap. my mind would be blown if I saw them both on stage. RIP JL.
Deep purple and Yes, would NOT be what they are without these masters
Two absolute legends, you'll never see the likes of these guys again ♥️
Superb! The Maestro Jon Lord and the Moog Master Rick Wakeman
Два гениальных человека! Их творчество на всегда останется с нами! Низкий поклон им! Спасибо !!!

So sensational to see these two keyboards kings together. How DO they play so fast and not make mistakes? Definite undertones of DP there.
Two great genious togheter!!
What a privilege for these people who watched this sensational show live, the last live of Jon Lord who left us unfortunately a year later. How lucky for me to be able to watch Jon and Rick ( not together ) live many, many years ago.
RIP Jon and Rick, you are now the only one left to continue to shine as all of you always have.
Jon Lord R. I. P.
Oh hell. I didn't know Jon Lord passed away until I read your comment.

just pure class, amazing lads, miss you JON LORD , rest in peace my friend. Cheers Chris Coverdale
Wow .. amazing .. I have never seen like that ... two keyboard maestro play together ....
Two gentlemen in that, what they are best doing :-)
Delicious!
Making funny comments as Statler & Waldorf ?
Thanks again
A nice pair !! Two of the best keyboards players in Rock.
Talk about talent. This is as good as it gets.! It shows that these guys are right there with all the guitar greats. That generation of muisians was able to create a spot in music for their instrument and take it to a whole other level. Truly very talented!
2 of the world's best Keyboardists on one Stage!
With their orginal classical Instruments:
Jon Lord on a Hammond Organ through a Leslie Rotary Speaker
And Rick Wakeman on his Minimoog
C'mon, Rick plays a bit more than just a minimoog, he normally has a piano and at least five keyboards around him at any given time often playing two or three different ones simultaneously...
Francos Maxino de
Robin St
Lord famously did not use a Leslie but an overdriven Marshall to produce his raw edgy sound.
+Winston Beech Exactly, he had his Hammond modified so he could play over a Marshall stack.
That's why the duels between Lord and Blackmore were allways so powerfull on stage.
Two of the Greatest Musicians EVER, the third is Keith Emerson.. Jon Lord = Rock God..
For good measure (because there's room), add Vangelis.
Сплошное великолепие - браво !
I had the good fortune to see and hear Jon in Győr, Hungary. It was the most beautiful day!
This is great .. Two great men Rick / jon
Опустела без тебя земля! Великий, гениальный, незаменимый Дж. Лорд! Вечная память, МАЭСТРО......
