By the way I did this with my previous car, and I also sprayed the air ducts. Insert the hose as far into each duct as possible, and spray while pulling the hose back out. This includes the ducts under the seats.
During winter i do the opposite and turn heat and ac on max before parking the car, that way its dry and not foggy windows when i go to drive it again. But you telling me thats whata causing the smell? Maybe doesnt apply to winter conditions?
So what's the funky smell like? I just got a 2001 E39 a month ago, and when I turn on just the vent without AC, it has an awful sour smell. It generally goes away if I switch it to AC. Is that what others smell, sour?
You wouldn't want to. The point for running it there is to dry it. That would turn the AC on and make the condenser wet again which would negate the purpose.

I enjoy your videos but it's a little too long. especially the 5 minutes on camera time inside the car filming ac being on. just my opinion.

Not sure about sour but yea just unpleasant smell before ac
I would liken it to a wet dog. Right? I have this issue sometimes. Need to tackle it. Glad this video is there to help get to the innards.
