    To help with the burn-through at the end: Start the weld at the point nearest the edge and work away from the edge. That way, as heat builds up you are working away from the edge. If you start in the middle of the tube and work towards the edge, by the time you get there the part will already be hot and you will burn through much more easily. This is true on lots of joint setups actually.

    Hi... I`m self taught like your self and still practicing. I found that using a lot less amps gave me time to get my technique right and then turned the amps up as I got more confident. 30 amps/mm seemed to work for me, gave me time to concentrate more rather than chasing the pool right from the word go. Keep up the good work :-)

      Thanks Alex and that's a good tip, I appreciate your input. The only problem I see with going slower is it can put more heat into the work piece. I'm always searching for that perfect balance between travel speed and amps. I guess that's where experience comes into play. 😀

    Looked nice for first try to me. I am a little behind you. Right now I bought a box of razor blades to try thin sheet metal. I will be watching you. Good Luck, don.t kiss hot welds.

    Good job. I have not welded tube but I bet there is a good learning curve.

    • @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10

      Thanks Mark! There sure was a learning curve for me. I think the key comes down to positioning and controlling your torch throughout the weld. It was a challenge for me but still a lot of fun!

    Is the pedal only for starting the arch? I used a Lincoln that the pedal controlled the amount of heat, this unit does not seem to do this?

    GREAT video - Thank you as always! It "hit me" around the 13:30 mark, the answer to a question I was going to ask...Why not go ahead and use the switched torch provided with the machine, rather than the torch and pedal you use? AHA! - the answer (guessing here) is that it is easier to keep the power ON when rotating your wrist around a 3D joint. Is that part of the reason? I cannot afford a nice pedal now (inflation, too close to Christmas, etc) but maybe I should consider it anyway. Just had my 250P about 1 day so far - lots to learn, and you have helped so much!

      I believe the difference between using a foot pedal or the finger switch is mostly personal preference. In some cases the weld you are trying to make will be the determining factor as to what to use. An example would be if you are on your back under a vehicle or something it may not be practical to use a foot pedal. The method you practice with will become the method you will prefer but I think they both have advantages and disadvantages depending on what you are trying to weld.

      @@DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10 Thank you. That is reassuring. Even though I got a spectacular deal on the P250 without a foot pedal, another 80-100 dollars is a LOT to me as a hobbiest, so I will wait.

      Thank you Theodore! Yes I watch Dusty with Pacific Arc Welding. He has some nice TIG welding skills and he's a good teacher. It's nice to see some welders out there that I can afford. Learning to weld is a hobby for me, I can't justify spending thousands of dollars on a machine. Thanks for the nice comment and Happy Welding!

    So do you prefer the yes welder to the primeweld?

    • @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
      @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10  3 роки тому

      Yes I do prefer the YesWelder. It's has digital control with a digital interface. The YesWelder is much smaller and lighter. It has a thermostatic controlled fan so it doesn't run constantly. It's more affordable than the PW and especially if you purchase it with a promo code. I think they are both nice machines but I do prefer the YesWelder over the PW at this point.

    This tube notcher for this tube is bad made ; thats why you nead fill so much filler and you use so thick filler rod ,, IF the tube notcher for the tubes was beter made and you use smaler filler rod you can weld this much beter and more smoth nice weld

    • @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10
      @DIYHomesteadProjectsDIYHP10  3 роки тому

      This tube is notched the way it is intentionally. (not a mistake or bad notcher) This method provides 100% penetration throughout the entire weld. A strong weld is more important than the look of the weld IMO.

      Not that I know best, I'm new to welding. I trust the experience and theory that the company who notched the pipe has. They have way more experience than I do. Like I said many times before, I'm new to welding. What size filler rod would you use to weld the tubing in the video if it were notched the way you like it to be notched?
