    Hey kully! Just wanted to thank you for the eye opening tip on amp setting. I’ve been tig welding for a year now and always set the amps higher then needed. Sometimes leading to inconsistent passes.
    Now knowing to set it at a amp range where I can floor it it’s been a lot more consistent ! So I appreciate that and thank you for this vid ! 🤝

    My TIG is in the mail, but my MIG has been near me since 84. Being comfortable important to allow focus on task. The filler for new exhaust alloys since 1992 has been 304 series. So 306L filler rod works good? My exhaust is repurposed from used pipe but new take offs from exhaust shops. They sell cheap as long as you bring a tape to measure as all my project needs is 2.5” dia. Twin pipes custom made placed to maximize room to work on a frame off 67 pickup. This is my last build but will be welding rocker for son on his SS Monte. I am not worried about sugaring as no cats, just two excellent mufflers out back. I would guess a week or more using V-bands and sleeves for certain connections. That’s the thing in life, you have time, but little money. Or, step up, weld what I need in new machine, teach son, or sell local as used. Thanks kindly!
    ASE Master since 78.

    Nice video! I was TIG welding for the first time today in class. Im a construction carpenter but my back is screwed up and I need to switch to something with more ergonomic consistency like working in a shop instead of construction sites. Did not use a filler rod though just welding 1.5 mm mild steel strips together in 45 degrees to practice before Im going to weld together this table grill project that they gave us. It was a lot of fun and extremely satisfying. Im looking forward to more of these beginner videos.

    Okay, I've been welding all kinds of stuff for many years, even tig welding, and I've never counted how many times I dip the filler in the puddle. Here is why " Why would I want to spend so much time thinking hmm am I dipping this filler enough times or not ?" When I focused mainly on just getting the job finished. Stainless steel doesn't always need to look like a stack of dimes when you are finished welding it . That's why the lay wire technique is just as simple as the dipping technique. How you tig up the job is mostly all a preference, not a requirement by code. So, just keep on doing what you feel is best for you. Feel free to tig weld some soda cans together whenever you have a chance. Make sure you use some very low amps. Lower than what you amps where on welding the exhaust pipes. Other than that nice-looking welds to be fair.

      Thank you sir! Yes I agree, there is always difference strategies. I like to count dips to keep your start and stops evenly spaced. I will be doing all new welding videos again this winter! Cool video mate! I'm doing something very similar to this , only confusing part is you say you are using "YESWELDER TIG Welding Tungsten Electrode 2% Ceriated 1/16" @2:19
    But later on you say you are using " Super Missile" Rods @6:18 so it that the *Same ones*??
    Also it helps a lot when content creators add links to the special types of materials or tools they are using or recommend. Beats all the guessing games and trial error us newbies go though at times, that what makes these type of videos perfect. 👍

    What are your thoughts on fusion welding aka no filler if fit up is spot on?

    • @KULLYCO
      @KULLYCO  Рік тому

      I know companies that fuse / Autogenous weld there stuff and they seem to get away with it. It really depends what the application is for and how high the exhaust temps are going to get etc. Also it’s a question of durability and how long your hoping it lasts. I always use filler on street and race applications so I don’t have to worry about it.

    So is this Super Missile tig rod the same thing as a ER-312 rod? Did a little research to find this rod and from what I'm seeing Super Missile is a brand name for Harris ER-312 stainless rod with a higher chromium content making it a great maintenance rod for harden tools, gears, etc.

      Make sure your tubing is sanded / cut very true . Where your pieces meet up it needs to be dead flat . Also , use small, cold tacks.. it doesn’t take much to hold material together . That should help with material moving around
