  • Purchased from MotionRC, these are my simple set up mods. For the nose gear stabilization mod I used the +1mm link as my jet had not yet been flown.

    Great mods, I’ve done them all on my Avanti including the two leading edges of the gear doors where I’ve added two small vertical lengths of thin ply which butt together when closed, I found the two gear door edges would foul occasionally. Thanks for your presentation

    You can keep the spring from inverting by just putting some hot glue over the spring hook on the gear door. It keeps the hook from turning.

    David, thanks for the mod vid. I just ordered mine and I am so pumped to get mine flying. One thing I would love to get a hold of is that front brace for the front fear, which looks like it was 3d printed. Do you know where I can get one since I do not have a 3d printer?

    No 3d printer needed. Simple hand tools a paint brush and ruler. You could use plywood, aluminum or something else.You could probably make a few by hand before many 3d printers can make one. The hand made one would most likely be stronger too. Most 3D printed plastic parts are not know for their strength anyway.

      Paul King no doubt you could make a piece by hand. My friend printed this one out and it worked great. It’s honeycomb inside and is actually pretty strong. But you are right a wood piece would work great. Good comment

    Hi there, I enjoyed watching this video. I'm thinking of buying either the Avanti or the Venom v2 as my first edf plane. Been flying 34 years , but all my planes are IC powered warbirds. Would you recommend the Avanti as a first jet?? The speed kind of scares me a bit as I'm so used to flying scale ,but I do love the sound of these machines. Would be glad of your advice??. Thank you.

    • @daviddouglass208
      @daviddouglass208  4 роки тому +1

      Yes I would. It flies exactly where you tell it to, and with the major flap throw it has you can land dead stick. Line up, power off, and just flare at the end. It’s my easiest plane to land. My Spitfire has to land hotter than this jet.

      @@daviddouglass208 That's great David. Does it have as good a jet sound as the Venom v2 ?

      Also David, I forgot to ask you should I buy the 9 blade or 12 blade Avanti? The 9 blade comes with a new in runner motor while the 12 blade has an out runner motor. Is there much difference in the way they perform?? Thank you.

      @@easystar123 I’m not sure! I got a Jetfan 8s set up from EfluxRC and it moves!! 9 blade is newer, maybe that one

    For ones that don’t have a 3D printer and would like to have the front wheel brace, can you make and sell it?

    hello, good changes, I did not understand the change of wings with those screws, you can show them dismounted? Can you tell me about the two ailerons only use one channel? Thank you

    • @daviddouglass208
      @daviddouglass208  6 років тому

      carlo8336 the screw change was very simple, a hex head bolt instead of a Phillips head, but I’ve never taken off the wings. I thought I might but have never needed to. The ailerons are on a Y cable, so that allows one channel to control both. I am unsure what you are asking?

    I do not understand how you put the screw for wings, can you tell me how many mm you have placed aileron excursion, and 'cabra, and' rudder? Thanks bye

    • @daviddouglass208
      @daviddouglass208  6 років тому

      I took the original screw to a hardware store and matched the thread pitch, I do not remember the size. The original screw had a different head and I put an hex head screw in as it’s more durable. However I don’t think it’s needed. As far as the throws of the ailerons I did the minimums listed in the manual as it’s very sensitive. Easy plane to fly if you have experience. You’ll love it!

    Did you balance c of g with the gear up or down?

    • @daviddouglass208
      @daviddouglass208  3 роки тому

      It’s been awhile but gear up I believe. I marked a line for the battery so I just pop it in now without too much thought. But I do check control horns every flight as that has been a issue for some

    My avanti crashed and the nose broke off and i want all these mods on the nose gear but its too difficult to place

    • @daviddouglass208
      @daviddouglass208  5 років тому

      Leon Duquenne no chance to fix it? The fuse isn’t “too expensive” to replace if needed. It costs but still cheaper than a whole new plane. I love my Avanti S, just purchased an 8s set up for it :)
