I worked at a hobby shop. We repaired customer planes. I've been using this method for over 12 years. We had the steam cleaner for several purposes. The first thing we used it for was straightening and removing dents on lexan car bodies. I just thought everyone knew about it by now. Thanks for letting everyone know.👍👍
Yea I hadnt heard about that for RC car bodys but ive done that on my car before in the interior so idk why i never thought to try that haha thanks going to give it a try one day..
These well known hacks tend to get forgotten as this no longer gets passed on to the next generation. So having these videos helps preserve this knowlegde
Very cool !! I use the dipping in hot water trick a lot, but this seems like a much better way to get a more focused, localized foam repair in less time with less work. Thanks
Wonderful thanks for the info. Who would have thought and to boot it's so precise. Every little new trick helps somewhere the other and this my friend is absolutely amazing.
Man, I don't know about these air planes. I just ordered my first plane and it's the a10 that you're fixing. They are so cheaply made and so freaking expensive for a bunch of cheap FOAM. I have plans to learn how to fly on a simulator and then start with a cheap model until I master the flying before I fly the a10. I might return the thing now that I see that the break so easy. It just ain't worth the money. I'll still fly a cheapy but I don't think I'm gonna stay with the planes. I'll go back to my rc cars and trucks. Thanks for the video, it really helped me make my mind up. Thumbs up on your video buddy. 👍
Welcome. Planes can be unforgiving. Just remember we all started somewhere and knew nothing. Learn the right way and you will be ok. Many have been down that road and have successfully made it. Also somewhere is guy saddened because he just crashed a 15,ooo turbine jet.
Great tips! I've used most of them but I don't own a steamer. May have to get one. But looking at your A-10 reminded me exactly what happened to my E flite 64mm A-10. I bounced it landing and ripped up the gun and nose just like yours. I glued it and used flexible spackle and paint matched at home depot. Looks factory fresh. All great tips. Thanks!
I don't know how to thank you, I just got a new Carbon Cub S2 and a fluke cross wind drove it nose into the ground and it crumpled the fuselage, I was so upset but I found your video and it fixed the plain, Thanks so much for the help.
Thanks for watching. Removing water slides is best done with a home steamer. Availed on amazon for about 20 bucks. Otherwise you can paint right over them also and never know they were there
Freaking wow man good find! This is really gonna come in handy for me. I was just looking into refinishing some of my planes that I can't find parts for anymore.
I just use a miniature iron for covering balsa airplanes. There is another vital secret to repairing planes, while also strengthening them a great deal… it makes bad wrecks look as good as new.
I just tried this on a brand new qq300 from flex that came with a bent wing that they wouldn't do anything about. I used travel cloths steamer so was a wide nozzle but it worked very well. Well enough that I'm going to hit amazon for a steamer ha.
Check it out. Using baby powder on foamies before before taping allows you to remove the tape without peeling underneath paint and get a clean paint line
I crashed the front end of the exact same A10 as you did. I need to know what glue do you use to fix this plane?? The front nose gear retract assembly ripped out completely from the foam fuselage. What kind of glue should I use to put the assembly back into the fuselage??
Thanks for the reply. I never heard of it. I will order up a tube of it on Amazon now. You have to maintain a good bit of speed landing the A10. I broke the nose gear pin landing it on the maiden flight. Bought new PIN set and fixed it. Went out today for a second try and stalled close to the ground trying to landed it. I hit a clump of grass just short of the runway and tore the whole nose gear assembly right out of the fuselage. At least I didn't break any parts this time. Just ripped the crap out of the bottom / side of the fuselage. Fits back in place fairly well. But will need alot of that foam tac !!!!!
You can also use beacon foam glue from a craft store like hobby lobby. It’s a big bottle of the same stuff a bit cheaper. The a10 needs the cg moved aft from the most rear recommendation about 5mm. That requires the blue box to be relocated back a bit. With the cg there it gives you flare authority on landing. No more bouncing or nose smashing. It doesn’t need the gear upgrade. Also I use the landing nose 3D print block and 6mm carbon tubes on the inside nose channels. It’s like they were made for them. Since those mods I love this plane.
Hi! Excuse me!wich plane is the trainer behind you in the wall at 0.52? Registration N226LK … i have exactly the same one and I don’t know the name… i think its from Hobbico maybe… thanks for sharing nice tips! Best wishes

Awesome find that is...what's the name of the steamer? I watch your videos alot and I've learned many things as a newbie so thank you...Im hoping you can point me in the right direction on a problem I have with my spectrum Dx6 controller.. My son was messing where he shouldn't be and for some reason whenever I turn it on it goes into a low battery warning but the batterys are full..I am guessing he got himself into the warning settings and set something and I don't know how to reverse it...HELP PLZ ...lol
I held down menu scroll button, turn on Tx. First screen shows System Setup list. Scroll to System Setup to change the battery setting back to Alka. Alarm 4.3V. The first time I did it, I ran out of time, and battery warning came on, but I was able to fix it the second time when done quickly.

That sir is a top notched tip. The spackle I already knew about. The steamer is a game changer.

Use that trick a lot. Works well
Really nice trick Mr Brenden, thanks for sharing.
I had planned on trying this, just have not had a chance! Kick ass video! Informative and to the point!👌🏻🤘🏻
Thanks. Is works well depending on what your trying to fix.
Nice tip for repairing small areas.
Great Tip. I have used light weight Spackle since my first foamie around 2008. I didnt know there is a bendable Spackle. Again thanks for the info.

I've seen a few guys do the same thing at our field. These guys are great RC pilots too. I guess maybe it's just a tough one to land?

That looks like a old hobbico superstar 60 sized up in the right corner. If so, that was my first rc plane back in the day.
I will use the steamer from my expresso coffee machine ..thanks
Noooo. Then the plane will smell like dark roar. Lol

I totally agree with the little steamer idea, I've been using it for two years, with good results!

Thanks for sharing your story and I am glad my trick worked for you. It’s all about the love of the hobby
Hi say what are you using as brackets to hold all you planes to the wall.
Regular adjustable shelf brackets and then slide a piece of PVC tube whatever length you need over the majority of the shelf bracket.
Thank you very much, it really works!
Of course. One of the best channels out there if I must say so. So many cool tricks on my channel. Did you see the baby powder trick?
@@JustPlaneCrazy No I haven’t seen it yet..

Haha. I was going to sell the one I have in my garage which I haven't used in about 15 years. Nice.

I crashed the front end of the exact same A10 as you did. I need to know what glue do you use to fix this plane?? The front nose gear retract assembly ripped out completely from the foam fuselage. What kind of glue should I use to put the assembly back into the fuselage??

1:07 Oof. Yeah, I’ve Fodded out EDFs before. That’s why I always do a FOD walk on the runway before I fly a jet.
I think it was my own fod lol. I think I bounced and sent something through it. Eh. Live and learn I guess. Thanks for watching and commenting
@@JustPlaneCrazy Ahh, that’s rough. Thank YOU for the secret trick!

Hobbit pt40 superstar. My first trainer. Recently sold it
BRILLIANT
This may be a stupid question but what kind of foam was that piece you were demonstrating with??
Epo. Same piece of that plane that’s was damaged beyond repair and was getting replaced
get the little heat gun they use for soldering, you can localize the heat that way
İs it exposed fiberglass on the ceiling? You are inhaling fiberglass particles there.
Wow, that steamer is the coolest thing ever!

Epo can withstand, acrylic, latex, Rustoleum 2x and krylon
