I just became aware of the UA-cam channels three days ago and am now angry with my daughter for not telling me about it. To see westerns like this is an old man's dream come true. Thank you so very much for allowing me to relive a big part of my youth.
Hare Kṛṣṇa Just today I was seeing an e-biography for the first time of Chuck Connors. I was surprised somewhat to discover, among other things, his second wife was a Bollywood starlet(?), born and raised in Mumbai(?) and passing away in the early 2000s)?). Her name, Kamalā, is becoming not too uncommon these days in the west. Kamalā Devī. On line, in case this is all news to you, is available a movie in which Chuck Connors plays the title role, 'Geronimo', opposite (?) his wife at the time (1962), Kamalā Devī Hare Rāma
This story was based on the life of Tom Horn, former Army scout, marshal, "regulator" & hired killer in the range wars and hanged in 1903 for the murder of a ranchers 14 yr old son. Chuck Conner's character even had the initials T.H. (Thorpe Henderon)!
Countless thanks for sharing these classic films with us all. I miss the days of Family Friendly, Bad Guy gets it in the end... (Morally Decent) ...Shows sorely. 👍👍🤠 5⭐
Thanks for watching. Since you are a Big Chuck Connors fan try this one as well. A very early roll for Chuck. The Brush Roper ua-cam.com/video/Leee5LstQyo/v-deo.html
*Actors John Hoyt and Barry Atwater both guest starred in original Star Trek. As for Chuck Connors, he was an underrated actor and one of my favorites.*
This episode sure looks familiar as far as plot is concerned. This reminds me of the movie about Tom Horn starring Steve McQueen as Tom Horn. Alot of the plot and story in the movie is taken from this episode. From the killing of a young boy to the way chucks confession is taken and even the hanging mechanism is familiar. Interesting.
The name of the series was "Frontier", an anthology series similar to "Death Valley Days". My dad used to paraphrase that tagline as, "Well that's the way it goes...movin' west."
Wow! Just came across your channel by happenstance, I've never seen this before, at the beginning the voice of the sheriff was bothering me and sure enough! It was the very great actor John Hoyt! And Chuck Connors playing a bad guy! This was very entertaining, thank you so very much for posting it, you're the best!
Thank you so much for watching. Since you enjoyed this one you may like the rest of The Forsaken Westerns series. We have so far released 14 episodes and we release one episode every week on Fridays at High Noon. Again thank you for watching and commenting.
Dam,I thought that ole Lucas was smarter than that...lol........Good episode.Chuck was a great actor with a glowing persona.I've tried to hunt down all of his movies.Too bad that he didn't make more.
About two years later Chuck again played a bad guy, Buck Hannassey, in the movie Big Country. That same year The Rifleman came along. He also a bad guy version of himself in the Rifleman episode Deadly Image.
That was chilling. My guess is the next time he played someone that evil was in Werewolf, the late '80s FOX horror series that he got fired (or quit, depending on who you ask) because he wanted way too much money after filming the first three episodes. His departure from that show was unfortunate for him but especially for the show.
Not surprising.. Actors never liked Conners. He didn't like them either. Same deal with Kevin Costner. Fellow Actors were treated like crap from both of them. Ego can be a nasty thing.
Does anybody remember Chuck Connors in Branded , They broke his sword and banished for a crime he didn't do, Branded-Branded he was young in that series, forsaken Western did you say Bob Terry, that's my last name also, thanks for the Western pardner.
Yes. Remember branded . I use to record it, but all I saw was re runs . I wish there were more . I remember growing up in the 70’s and my family watching westerns , didn’t care for it. Now I watch a episode of some kind of western every day if I’m able. I love Gunsmoke w Festas “ you old shutter “ Lol 😂. Smh good stuff.
This is the story of Tom Horn...even used a name with the same Initials...Tom Horn was hung for killing a 14 year old boy thinking it was the boys father...Steve McQueen played Horn in a movie about him..
Bob . Great westerns you provide us on westerns on the web . I noticed sometimes you are not wearning a rig on the intros . You should always be packing .. it's like a trademark.
WOW! They talk about KARMA! VERY surprise and short ending. What I like about these westerns is that these days you can go to Wikipedia and get valuable information on the cast. HOWEVER not much was in Isa Childers
John Hoyt as the marshall, great actor, was the first doctor,Dr. Boyce on 'The Cage' first pilot episode of Star Trek with Jeffery Hunter as Caption Pike
Busted pilot, I believe. The TV schedule in the 50's could only hold so many Westerns, and unless there was some special hook to them, they didn't make the cut.
I am wondering how a pilot tv series could have the main character hanged at the end. Or was it going to be about various assasins? Thanks for uploading. great episode!
I remember the 1956 episode of Gunsmoke called the 'Preacher' when Matt fought a bully prize fighter who was Chuck Connors in the end and final KO'd him. Chuck could play some menacing lowdown characters or in The Movie, 'The Big Country' with Gregory Peck and Burl Ives.
For some reason, i never realized Connors was from Brooklyn before until i heard his accent at the beginning of this show. Seemed less pronounced later in his career.
my god, he could act. i had no idea!! a Celtic, a Chicago Cub, and an actor and quite a good one! a talented guy! :) ⛹🏼⚾️🎭 thanks so much for posting this and i’ll take a look at your others, too. do you remember Gaby Hays or Andy Divine? loved Gaby as a kid - lots of westerns in the ‘50’s :) 🏇🐴🐂🐄 (The Lone Ranger and Tonto, Maverick, Gunsmoke, Have Gun*Will Travel, the old movies, Wagontrain. . . )
That's a switch; John Hoyt playing the lawman and Chuck Conners playing the killer. Judging from the story line, this appears to be a thinly veiled biography of Tom Horn. Even today nobody knows if Horn actually killed the 14 year old boy or was simply framed for past killings.
I don't care how "almost forgotten" the anthology series was (and it is mentioned time and again). What I care about is that it had a name - what was it?

I agree it was based on the story of Tom Horn which to this day was a mystery was it that he was innocent or guilty

Near cloned precursor to his performance in the "The Big Country" a couple of years later right down to the "schoolteacher" comments.

C.C. CAN PLAY A GOOD B.G. BUT WE ALL ❤ HIM AS THE R.M. A FATHER WITH GREAT SKILL WITH A 🔫... NOT A KILLER. A RANCHER. THAT'S CHARACTER MADE HIM A ⭐!!!
Yes, that was a different look at Chuck Conners.
