Absolutely! So many people crank and go. I alway feel way more comfortable letting a saw idle for a minute or so before going to work. Same for cooling them down after big cuts, I’ll let it idle for a minute instead of cutting it off
I like to let it idel, and then a few 1/4 throttle blips and then put the bar close to something and hold maybe half and wait for oil to start making a mark then maybe do some de branching before getting to some cutting and bucking
Indeed! If you travel with multiple saws or hire out it’s a good show of force while you’re setting up a work area to let all your saws idle for a minute or two
Buckin I think you made Donny Walkers day by the respect you showed him and the kindness regarding your friendship! Such a good example my brother! Much love to you!
Hello buckin, I just wanted to say hello from the States and I have been watching your channel for a while now and always a great uplifting spirit you are!!! So that being said thank you so much for your time and effort!!! Like always God bless you and yours and with love peace and saw Grease Jay small
Thank you for sharing the Donny Walker build Buckin. I may be mistaken but the Walker build seem to not have that four stroke issue out of the cut. Some but not as much as the Ripsaw or a stock 500. Both awesome saws and love seeing the grind of two different men working. Love ya brother. 🌲❤️🌲👊🪓
Ive seen those 500i's sound downright pissed off if they're not ripping into hard wood. Its like driving a $300,000 Porsche at 25mph. Its not happy til its doing at least 120. Same with these saws. They BRAP at you until they bite into woid.
New to your channel….I spent 10 years in the industry and a car accident forced me out of it full time. Great content and informative while being entertaining.
Just as a side note, I've been having some right shoulder issues, and I've started starting big saws by sitting them on the ground, putting my right foot on the tank/handle, right hand on the front handlebar, and starting with my left hand. It uses a combo of bicep OR tricep (depending on which way you do it) and left shoulder. The shoulder is just rotating back in the down position using your lats, though, not upwards using your deltoid and traps.
Billy I just got out of the timber doing some clean up after a storm. Always good tosee you on here I wish I could watch you on my TV I have hulu on wifi
the saw shops around me arnt that great imo. being from canada. i have had a hard time finding places to buy saw parts online. i sent walker saw shop an email and they happily got me what i needed. even went the extra mile by sending me an old 028 since i broke the fuel tank handle on mine. thanks walker saw shop. :)
Glad i found you again, bee over a week no BBRS..dang You tube, and others giving me a hard time... i an not one to lay down and take chit.. lol i let them know where to get off.. Good to see ya buddy.. love from SE Texas Bear looking for a live soon hey?
Unrelated but a friend gave me 2 pairs of Viberg tongues. I usually make my own. They took about 10 minutes to get used to seeing the long fringe, but yep, they're thicker than what I got at the Amish harness shop. Tell Nicks boots they got to start making that pattern. I'm a convert.
500i is my dream saw....Big enough to do anything I would need around my place. Just picked up a 261 and breaking her in. I will get a big saw someday. :) Great Video Bud!!!
I've had the 261 for over a year now. I'm 72 and cut almost 100 face cord of hardwood. It just keeps getting better. I'd sure like to find a performance exhaust.
Howdy Billy from New Zealand, great informative channel! Time to replace old 76cc 048AV with either the 462 or 500i, do ya think I'll notice much difference 🤭😀
grad to see you cutting again, nurse the shoulder a little more. Im doing that with my right side elbow right now. i probably shouldnt do any splitting but you cant teach an old dog new tricks (lol)
And one more thing mowing the Rocky side of your drive way if your using your new mower watch out for the rocks and small trees you can jack up your blade and shaft
Buckin, you look like you're getting younger!!... don't know if it's the haircut & shave, or if you've been working out & lost a few pounds or what - but either way, it's great to see you working & feeling well! 😊
Id love to see you compare new nicks side by side with your rebuilds. Im skeptical that the rebuilds are on pare with the new. Cause whites probly rebuilds them in the hauthorn explorer assembly line. ;) wait theyre nicks right. Idk anymore. Great vid by the way Ive got a few 372 mufflers for you to try
Can’t decide between a MS 500i/462 or 592xp. I’ve only got one hand (my left) so weight is a big factor and I need a full wrap handle. Do really like that husky is a touch cheaper and offers military discount, but Stihl aftermarket is great. And I have a good Stihl dealer locally. Decisions, decisions. Just need a saw with about 2-3HP more than my MS391’s and pull at 25-28’ bar.
Hey Buckin I have a question, I got my papaws 1-43 McCulloch he used to cut timber with when this thing was new, I need to know where to start to get this thing to start, motor is free, it pulls. It’s been in the dry for years. I’m a logger myself also.
@@MATT.MAN-PEACE-LOVE Ok I will definitely do that firstly, I just need to know what way to go. It’s good and free I’m sure needs something done to the coil. What would you recommend on that, like if it has a little rust on it?
I got my 2yr old daughter a lil 500i...lol that kids toy stihl put out is awesome!! Im personally nore a husky guy but their chainsaw toy is kinda poop comparatively speaking. And i think i caught a joke about pullin ones goalie..Buckin gets rowdy when he hangs with Donny 😂
Question for you or commenters to answer.... If you get the ms500i to breath in more air how are you increasing fuel if it computer controlled? Does it mean your leaning the saw of fuel?
On the 500i how does it compare to the 850 Mac now that it’s ported ? And yes I agree 1000 0/0 on servis it’s missing these day sadly there are a few but that’s it a few
Mr buckin billy I was wondering if you have ever used a Husqvarna or stihl splitting axe me and my dad have been watching you for a while and decided we are going to with an axe instead of a maul. Thanks friend!
An important thing I noticed ..... you warm up your saws ....... I believe thius is the #1 thing to make your machines last longer.
Absolutely! So many people crank and go. I alway feel way more comfortable letting a saw idle for a minute or so before going to work. Same for cooling them down after big cuts, I’ll let it idle for a minute instead of cutting it off
It’s because the piston warms up quicker than the cylinder.

Said it before, and it still applies. The chips, seeing them pour horizontal. It makes my day.
Hi my friend! You'll never know how much you've changed my life. Thank you❤ keep being you Buckin
Your person brings joy to me. But more soo to my four year old daughter. She just loves you. Keep up the good work buckin. Over and out!
I acquired an antique homelight the other day Buckin and I love it!!!
Great video Buckin. Looks like you're having some great weather. Both of those saws are terrific. Stay well and get stronger.

I've seen it all!! I gotta get one now, I happen to run one at a dealer and that was it!

Nice to see Donny , he ports saws for people all over the world 👍🇨🇦
Hello Donny! A.
Donny Walker builds a good strong sounding saw
Two very improved saws. Cyrus over at Johnston performance saws is getting some huge gains on the 500i as well. Night and day different from stk

Love seeing Donny. Got a 500 done by him last year. It's amazing! Hey, is the wife letting you swing the axe yet?

Question for you or commenters to answer....
If you get the ms500i to breath in more air how are you increasing fuel if it computer controlled? Does it mean your leaning the saw of fuel?
It has a set of programmed perimeters and it will automatically adjust to them, Stihl did their homework with this system.
On the 500i how does it compare to the 850 Mac now that it’s ported ? And yes I agree 1000 0/0 on servis it’s missing these day sadly there are a few but that’s it a few
