- Bennington, VT (mi. 1618) to Story Spring shelter tent site (mi. 1637) Today was one of my favorite hiking days yet, 19 miles of up all day. I know what you’re thinking, but I’m just not a big fan of down, mostly because I go so slow. Weather and temps were about perfect and water was ample. Not a lot of great tent sites here but I’ll make do by strategically placing sneakers here and there under my mattress. After just doing 7 miles yesterday I felt like I could’ve hiked 30 today haha. I didn’t even bother stopping for lunch, I just ate on the fly and got to the shelter about 4:20 pm.
Not a clue what tomorrow holds yet, except I know it will involve one foot in front of the other. An old work colleague wants to meet at the road crossing near Rutland, VT with some goodies, so I need to start thinking about the logistics of that …
Todays menu: Two glasses of orange juice, 2 large Chobani yogurts with granola, an orange, 2 Quantum energy squares, 2 honey stinger waffles, Package of Cliff energy bloks, a pancake, 2 sausage patties, 2 servings of scrambled eggs, 2 servings of home fries, a bag of freeze dried granola and berries, freeze dried strawberries, a package of oatmeal, a Cliff bar, 4 Carnation instant breakfasts, a protein sweet roll, and water with Gatorade powder.

not many people are lucky enough to get a catered breakfast from the Blue Benn! Woot! It was year 3 for us, and I'll suggest we buy earplug for campsite location. Yeah, the hike outta Woodford NoBo is 9 miles uphill no matter how you slice it. Happy hiking!
