I loved that he burned the house down at the end. It wasn't enough that he was dying. Burning down the house was symbolic of burning everything his mother had stood for; it was his final escape from her clutches.
My fav character in the show. Pope was so complex and misunderstood he loved his family, he was loyal to them but it became his demise. His mental health was used against him and overall he was the one they all relied on most. RIP TO A REAL ONE!!
Jay starts the series alone, and ends the series alone. His mother stole from the family because of what her mother was doing to her and pope, and Jay stole from the family to avenge his mother. All the hidden meanings and how everything came full circle was incredible. This last episode beats breaking bad and SOA finales for me. The actor who played pope should get an Emmy.
SOA is my all time favorite I actually started watching Animal Kingdom because I saw an article recommending it for people who liked Sons. I hated the last season of Sons but the last 2 episodes we're perfect. Animal Kingdom had an amazing finale but I didn't care for most of season 6
One of the best shows ever. It drew you in and made it so you could barely wait for next weeks show. After Each season’s finale it was so hard waiting for the next seasons first show. Going to miss this series. It made you wish you were actually hanging out with the Codys
Animal Kingdom the movie so much better. The Wire, Games of Throne, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Sopranos ect. Show was not bad but not great either
In season 5 and early season 6 it looked like Pope had finally escaped the stranglehold Smurf had over him, but eventually it all caught up to him. Killing Cath and abandoning Julia all for Smurf. Letting J go and burning down the house was him finally breaking free of Smurfs stranglehold.
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS SERIES....just finished watching it today, I binged watched for days....of all the characters my heart always went out to Pope, Smurf messed him up and yet he was still loyal, always hoping for real love, he had a softness I believe behind it all but his mind was too tormented.....jeepers I cried with this scene. The characters were all portrayed so well, Im going to miss them in their roles but at the same time the story came full circle. Oh and I cried for Craig and Baz but really heartsore for Pope. Yes the characters are fictional but you grow to love them an so much they go through really just moves you. Brilliantly written, produced and everything that goes with a spectacular series like this. I can go on for pages give me half the chance LOL.....awesome stuff, love all the way from Cape Town South Africa
He chose a warm bed and that house over his drug addicted, twin sister whom he left to suffer….. Poetic ending that he burns that house down to spite his monstrous mother who manipulated him to leave his sister and turned the whole family against her.
My wife and I are at odds over who should win an Emmy for this series. She says Sean Hatosy and it is hard to argue with her because he played the hell out of Pope across the whole series. My pick is Jake Weary because his portrayal of Darin was fantastic, and the last scene with Craig was so heartfelt and well acted the tears rolled down my face the whole time. Last but not least I really don't have any confidence in Hollywood for Oscars or Emmys it is mostly all politics and who you know and who you blow! If Val Kilmer was not even nominated for his portrayal of Doc Holiday in Tombstone and Tommy Lee Jones won for playing the same character he always plays, namely himself (one exception Lonesome Dove) then the fix is in. Top 3 TV shows of last 20 years = Justified, Sons of Anarchy, and Animal Kingdom in no particular order. We live in Carlsbad just south of Oceanside and loved the local filming and scenes.
He plays a very good role in some movies and this show he nailed it ima miss this show I wish they would do a spin off of Jay running things and deran pops up in it doing his own heist in wherever trying to get money and we never saw him escape or anything
Award shows are about ass kissing and money exchanging hands behind the scenes. It's rare for those that really deserve to win to even be up for the award. The fact that Samuel L. Jackson got his first Acadamy Award this year (a lifetime achievement award) is proof of that. He should have won best actor for his role in A Time To Kill. Jennifer Lawrence winning a best actress award was what fully convinced me awards shows are jokes.
I wished Pope and Craig had a reunion with Julia in the after life cause 8 think deep down he wanted to see her even if it was just to say she hates or he was a bastard he be happy with that cause at least she would be thier to say it Craig well he's never going to see his kid grow up so that might be an ok conciliatory prize
@@zacharyhensley2939 dude it’s by ghostemane and they put that in the final episode? Holy shit bro went from a solid 12/10 finale to a 20/10 thank you for telling me the song, surprised I didn’t know. 🙏🏼🙏🏼

His name is Shawn Hatosy and yes he definitely deserves an Emmy
You said it all perfectly here.

SoA yea but Breaking Bad not even close
@@maryedge2433 watch Banshee
He wanted to help his sister and even his nephew in the end. I'm not sure Darren would have be as kind after what happened to Craig.

@jbpokerwar8962 no your opinion is most certainly not a fact the movie sucks in comparison to this.

Job?
He knew he was dying, and he was taking the whole Smurf legacy with him. Beautiful.
This scene lives in my head rent free ever since I watched the finale. What an incredible and tragic ride it all was.
You read my mind here bro.
I won't lie when watching this I legit thought he was about to set the fire and just let the fire consume him
Same 😂
Lol me too. I was like “GET THE FRICK OUT”
I could definitely see a spinoff that revolves around J.
Not gonna happen, he is a pretty popular actor, so i don’t think he will stick around

Perfect statement of if I cant have it no one will.
Rest in peace Pope
He was one of my favorites in this show.
RIP to a legend! The only Pope I'd ever listen to.....

Agreed I was very impressed by jake weary especially in that final episode. His acting when he found out jay had betrayed them was next level
I live in Carlsbad too
Perfect song choice
brilliant actor
An agonizing ending.
Am I tripping or did Pope die from either a heart attack or blood loss?
His injuries were from being shot.

Que descanse en paz el gran pope..
Siempre fuiste jn tio real y honesto !! Para mi de lo mejor de la serie junto con deran y craig
Smurf was rotten person who became a rotten mother & ruined lives. Hate it ended like this.
Crime doesn't pay
@@papaadot9369 obviously thats not true, any loser, lifelong crook can grow up to president of this united states.
This was a great cool show...
Porque no hablan de esta serie en latino América, a mi me encanto ,me gustaría comentar
YES MAN
What an incredible ending of this show 👍
That was an amazing episode 🤯
So sad because of pope
I rooted for J from the first ep ...❤
Hatosy ❤❤❤
What's this song called?
Well....well....well.....
The series was great, but these are some of the worst CGI flames I've seen 😅
Pope basically went out like Jerome from snowfall
OMG! POPE DIED 😢😢😢
What's the track called? What an amazing episode 🤯
Ghostemane- Melanchoholic. I thought it was a very fitting song choice for popes ending and it made me love the show even more.
@@chase_htx thankyou, fucking killer track 🤘🤘
What this song?
i dont know but the piano part at the end of the video is te section from a black metal song, freezing moon by mayhem
Anyone know the song ?
Melancholic or something similar but it's by Ghostemane

@@Codfreakbag But the piano part is "Freezing Moon" by Mayhem 😎
Last season sucked
Season 5&6 weren’t good but there were still some good moments from time to time
Love the show but yr right the last season wasn't that great.
The flashbacks is what sucked.
@@adrv5721 that was the highlight for me
Then you never liked the show really
Here's to pope! 🍻
Yall dont understand😂
