I'm grateful for your channel not being another rehashing of hundreds of other cooking shows. The commentary and tips on traditional approaches elevate you from the pack and help us truly appreciate what you, and now we, are cooking up.
Thank you so much for the kind words Daniel! I'm happy to hear you've been finding my videos helpful. There's so much about cooking that's decided by the fact that it's how it's been done forever, and not a lot of people don't stop to question if there isn't a better way. That's something that I try to focus on when I'm developing my recipes.
your editing reminds me of tasty ahaha your videos are really a work of art. both informative and actually works *cough* tasty *cough* and amazing to watch. you have a real passion for this and it shows.
Glad to find this video Marc! It came in timely, as I happen to have a large bag of potatoes that I got from a charity event and have run out of ideas on cooking them! This is a keeper again! 😋
What a nice coincidence! I just bought kanikama this past weekend and saw your delicious salad recipe and then craved Japanese potato salad and saw this right below the YT suggestions. Thanks Marc! 🥳
You're welcome Steve, I think I have mosts of the basics of Japanese home cooking covered at this point but if you think any that you can't find a recipe for, let me know
Holy molly this tasted so good!!! Probably the best potato salad I’ve ever had?? As an egg lover 2 eggs was not enough for me so I went with 4 medium sized eggs 😅
Hi Holly, thanks so much for tuning into Bento Expo and for the kind words! I shoot my videos using 3 cameras, a Sony a7r3, a Sony a7r2, and an iPhone 11 Pro. Most of it is shot on the a7r3, overhead cooking scenes and most slow motion chopping is with the iPhone, and closeups are shot on the on the a7r2.
Marc the videography on this one is exceptionally well done. I haven't seen a reference to what slider, motorized head, or turntable you are using? I love the recipes too of course.
Hi mark, i checked your potato salad coz im thinking of something to side my main dish karage. We alao have our version of potato salad in Philippines, but yours is kinda diff. So im gonna try it. Thanks!
You're welcome Judy, I hope you enjoy it! I'm curious what the differences are with Filipino potato salad? It's so interesting how the same dish is made a little differently around the world😄

Hi Shawna, the "L" vocalization in words like yolk and folk varies by region so there is no hard and fast way it's pronounced. You can read more about it here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L-vocalization#Modern_English
Ok interesting, I guess what I should say is where I’m from L is silent in words like yolk and salmon, I didn’t know it was pronounced in other places. I’m from Canada by the way
@@fuzzyx2face Good to know. To be honest, I kind of grew up all over the place so I'm not sure where I picked it up from. I pronounce salmon with a silent "l", but vocalize it in folk, yolk, chalk, polk, and caulk....
Hi Alex, it's funny that you mention that because Japanese potato salad is believed to have evolved from Olivier Salad (which is the Russian version of potato salad).

Glad to hear you enjoyed it Chelsea, I've got a lot more Japanese food coming this way😉
Yum! I can't eat ham tho so maybe I can chop up pieces of karaage to substitute... Looks delicious, thanks for the tute!
Karaage would be a great addition, but you could do it without any meat too as you've got plenty of protein from the eggs.
Can't wait to make this recipe! I picked up the ingredients today :o)
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for noticing Kent. I use Edelkrone's motion control gear. For this one, I used their HeadOne and DollyOne, together and separately.
@@NoRecipes Thanks. I had a feeling it might be an Edelkrone system. I've had my eye on their gear for a while.

in Spain we call that dish "Russian salad"
