Interesting how Dweezil now refers to his dad as 'dad' whereas before even after Frank died, Dweezil was still referring to his dad as Frank. I would like to have asked him when that changeover took place.
@@RaminNazer Thank you for letting me know. Dweezil was nearly two years old when I left America to return to England. You might be interested in a series of videos on YT with Frank answering my questions on parenting, composing, TV evangelists, Party Hats, and One Last Question in 1988. There are several versions of the parenting one!
I second what @RaminNazer said! I'm a writer and recording artist (voice actor) so the insight into your working life, and what it was like to write with one of my inspections, was invaluable. You really painted such a vivid picture of the good, bad, and crazy. Very transparent and humanizing for every subject involved. Wee definitely glad for the resource you've have provided.
@@AndreAsunte Thank you, Andre, that is such a nice commendation. It is also good to hear from another writer who no doubt shares the dedication it takes to get to the end of a book. Since you are a voice actor, you will no doubt appreciate Emily Gregory's audible of my book. She does a great job of the voices. What sort of things do you write?
@paulinebutcherbird Honestly,, the audiobook somehow never occured to me. I actually bought your book after finding an interview or story about you that same day. I came for Zappa, but I could relate to some of the tribulations and uncertainties you faced weekly... even the pay rate. It was an affirming experience as a creative. Just knowing what it takes to even start writing, I completely celebrate you for even getting a page of this together. Knowing what you went through, and the dedication you showed yo Frank, even at the time, really speaks to your work ethic. Thank you for providing your experience in such raw detail for us. As for me, I've been lucky to have a varied career. I started with editorials, but have gotten to do fiction, televisions, short stories, lead a writer's room, and even ghostwrote some books.
Interesting that Dweezil has never consumed alcohol, but his brother, Ahmet, has and does. In fact, Ahmet has his own podcast called "Rocktails," where he and his other co-hosts consume cocktails during each show. It's also interesting, because Frank drank alcohol, which is brought up in Pauline Butcher's book (which is a really fun read, by the way). Frank enjoyed whiskey. Obviously, he just was never a big drinker whatsoever. It doesn't sound like drinking was never something he engaged heavily in. But good for Dweezil for just saying no. To each his own.
Dweezil did not look like he wanted to talk about Moon's creation or 80's MTV trivia.I think I heard a sad little noise when Lyndsay brought up VG, but he soldiered on.
Moon’s book is mostly about her relationship with her mom but I don’t think he liked her putting out personal stuff about the family. I do think Ahmet is trying to use his podcast as a way to reunite the siblings, which is ironic considering he and Dweezil did a show together.
Not sure if you refer to Moon's book, or mine. I covered Frank's home life over three years when he was first famous and Moon was four years old, and Dweezil not quite two. I met Frank in England when he was over to promote the Mothers' first tour and, long story short, ended up living and working in his house. Moon's books covers 50 years from when she was four years old. 'Freak Out! My Life with Frank Zappa, Laurel Canyon, 1968-1971' by Pauline Butcher, and 'Earth to Moon' by Moon Zappa.
Dweezil doesnt do politics but he's wearing and selling dogwhistle red hats this whole tour. Gimme a break. Just own it and be honest or are you worried about your ticket sales?
Pressing play now - Awesome
Dweezil! 🙂

I love your book!

what a great guy 👉 2:30 "electric lady land" was the jimi hendrix album he was thinking
EVH visits the Zappa House. What a great story! 23:00
Frank got pretty specific politically on 'Broadway The Hard Way'.
The show "Davey and Goliath" was created by Art Clokey, the same guy who created "Gumby".
Imagine having a brother who dismisses your book like that.
He's a weird guy

I do wish Moon had taken a greater interest in playing an instrument and less in torturing her siblings.
🌠ALRIGHT ...!
I would like to read it!
