Stuff like these workarounds really shows how desperately we need more adoption of open standards when it comes to digital audio. It shouldn't be this difficult to do something so simple. Audio software routing is such a pain.
This is spot on. The idiocy of software developers is dawnting. OBS, REAPER, PRO TOOLS, all need these types of apps/extensions/BS to get audio in a stream?? It's dawnting how incredbly difficult it is. Try getting audio from Reaper to another computer on your network! Just use Reastream as it was designed to be used. IT DOESN'T WORK. Your comment says it all.
3 years ago I felt like the only person with this problem... After deciding to hit the forums again... Finally, a solution. Thank you so much for this video. I almost gave up half an hour ago, but after going back at least 15 times and pausing way more than that, OBS is picking up the Maschine Mikro I picked up almost 10 years ago. Wow. What a relief. The second I saw the bump in the audio monitor when I hit the pad, I stood up with my hands raised in victory.
Thanks for the video! For people wanting to get sound from broswer or other softwares that go straight to windows, change reaper driver to WASAPI shared loopback .
You also need OBS-Asio free plugin. Note that I set ReaRoute to 32floating instead of 32integer. You can set it via OBS ReaRoute - Controm Panel button.
on my win7 machines, ReaStream worked perfectly between Reaper and OBS. However on all my Win10 machines, it is all but impossible to get it to connect. ReaRoute however works great, but you then have to nest or copy the ASIO source into every single scene. if some audio is playing in the background (i've read you can create a dummy .wav file to play in WMP or VLC and it will "open" up ReaStream") it works. so strange. Reading the comments below, I totally agree that it should not be this hard to do any of this. on my UR824 I have Loopback which means I can sidestep all of the above, however, Loopback is yet another can of worms. If you plan to use Loopback on your audio interface, be sure to get one with more than 2 inputs on it, as loopback takes over inputs 1+2, meaning you cannot use the inputs in any DAW. Stereo Mix, or What you hear, would be great to have, or better still a software windows function of Loopback that you can route.
I assume some windows update happened, but as of 2022 ReaStream has completely stopped working for me when I try to stream to OBS. No matter what I do, the signal doesnt come through. This issue happened over night and it has been broken ever since

I think this is what's happening for me now. Followed the steps in this video to the T for the Reroute method, and nothing seems to work. The audio is not registering for me in OBS whatsoever, and I'm on version 29.0.0. Any advise?
Correction: I found out what my issue was. My workflow consist of the use of NDI sources in OBS I still had to delete the NDI source that I created to receive the NDI Direct Audio from Reaper, and that seemed to have solved whatever was preventing the ReaRoute settings from working correctly. Hope it helps.

I was putting it on the master as an ouput is what I had seen a guy do in a video, but i never had changed the settings on the track and it was still working for my mic, i will try what you did here but i think it was already set for ouput rearoute on my mic, someone told me to run obs and reaper both as admin to have it not crash.
