HOW TO FIX BRASSY ORANGE HAIR

  • Since I've done my hair ombré, I got asked a lot of times like how my hair isn't orange, so I thought a video would be a good idea! As this is my first vid, I may have miss out things I should've included, so please forgive me! More infos below.
    I'm not a hairdresser nor a colorist but do like experimenting with my hair. Depending on the level of lightness of your hair, like if it's darker, it may not work for you. I believe I was between level 6-8 because of the ombré. You can see that the top mid part of my hair still has some brass but I'm happy with the result.
    I bought most of my hair products from Capital Hair & Beauty in the UK. If you're not able to buy from there, Sally Express also stocks most things.
    Mixing:
    One tube of DIALIGHT hair color is 50ml which is mixed in a 1:1.5 ratio with 75ml DEACTIVATEUR (6,9 or 15 Vol).
    Demi-permanent hair dye & developer:
    - L'Oréal Professionnel DIALIGHT 9.11- Deep Ash Milkshake
    amzn.to/2H9iagw
    - L'Oréal Professionnel DIACTIVATEUR 9 Vol (2.7%)
    amzn.to/2qjBj4N
    Color corrector:
    - Ardell Hair Color Corrector, Red And Gold
    amzn.to/2GO3OyG
    Purple Shampoo:
    - Clairol Shimmer Lights Shampoo + Conditioner
    amzn.to/2uZ5KCV

      My hair is orange, thats so ugly on me 😞 idk how im gonna do tommorrow at school. I’m so dumb i spend 100 euro in a hair salon, it was okay but i wanted to be it to be a lil lighter (aweful mistake). So i bought a colorista balayage box and it turned my hair orange. I’m so mad at me. Purple shampoo does nothing on my hair. Im so mad cuz i will need to spend some extra money to fix my brassy hair... I miss my black hair sm. I damaged my hair so much that my curls are almost gone. I will never bleach and color my hair again lol

    This works!!!! I bleached my hair three times; and then used the dialight. You are so right; I was so scared because the toning part looked so dark, but absolutely beautiful when dried.

    Omg, I LOVE how your hair turned out! 😍 I dyed my hair ombré blonde with Féria L’Oréal color hair dye and I loved how it came out at first but then a couple months later, it turned out brassy orange. 😩😭 I want my hair to turn out like yours! looks very beautiful with the curls! 😍😍😍

      Aww I’m sad to hear. Have you been using purple shampoo? Toner doesn’t last forever which means after a couple of weeks you can redo it and purple shampoo will make it last a little longer xxx

    Good job! A tip for next time which I use on my clients, on damp hair, use 6vol activator with 9.01(to cancel orange) on your very warm mid band first leave for 5 minutes and then use the same 9.01 mixed up and pull through everywhere, (only if ur ends are orange) . if your ends are Yellow then you must use 9.02 (this will cancel out the yellow best)

    • @lomer1646
      @lomer1646 6 років тому

      When you pull it through to your ends after the mid band leave it for 10 minutes, this will allow more shine into the hair and ultimately even coverage !

    I can't believe you got your hair from being THAT orange/reddish brassy color, to the color in the beginning of the video by yourself😱. That's amazing! I tried myself using bleach for the first time to ombre/ Balayage whatever you want to call it, and as of right now my hair is almost the exact same ugly color orange as yours was (no offense😂) it's a very deep orange with different colors of reds and even a few blonde streaks here and there and I was told by multiple stylists I would need a color correction along with multiple other things to fix it and it would cost me upwards of $300😭 which I definitely dont have!! I do have a Sally Beauty Supply by my house but I'm not sure if they sell the products you mentioned. I've never heard of the dial lights or whatever you said you used. I'm going there tomorrow and am praying hopefully they have these products because your hair is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!!!😍💯❤ By the way don't be nervous!! if this is your first video I would have never known! you're an amazing UA-camr and have a very great and sweet personality and also gorgeous. I subscribed to you and am also trying to become an upcoming UA-camr and am trying to get some more videos out there as I've been busy with kids and I'm also 39 weeks pregnant LOL but if you can sub back to me I would really appreciate it ❤much love from Pennsylvania

      @5footCloset  5 років тому

      Hiiiii thank you so much for your sweet message!! When I managed to fix my hair first time I was so excited it worked and thought why not make a video now as I know how to! I think I’m more confident now in talking to the camera lol. Let me know how it goes with your hair. You can definitely try out other brands like Wella, I’m just not 100% sure which colour as my hair is much lighter now and easier to tone. Good luck with your channel and yes I know how time consuming it is even when I don’t have any kids. Congratulations on your little bundle of joy!! 😘😘😘

    I'm hoping you answer questions: I got cast as a blonde (dark blonde/light brown) and my hair was dyed dark ash brown. I wanted to dye it back to medium anyway so I took the part because I was going to need to lift some color anyway. Here's what I did:
    I stripped the color, then bleached my hair with a 1:2 ratio of blue bleach and 30 volume developer.
    Then I toned my hair with a 1:2 ratio of 20 volume developer to Wella T-18
    Then dyed by hair "dark ash blonde."
    It is still very golden, and this character we believe was a natural dark blonde/light brown.
    What should I do next to make the color cooler? It is the correct lightness, but too golden to look natural.

    • @5footCloset
      @5footCloset  8 років тому

      Hi there. Thanks for your question. I'm not a professional but having gone through so many failed attempts I'll try my best to help.
      Wella T18: this would only work if your hair is really light. I've only tried Wella T14 before and that worked but only lasted 3 weeks.
      As it's the correct lightness you could try a demi permanent hair dye (Loreal Dialight) like how I used in the video but a different colour. As I don't know what level of lightness your hair is I'm just guessing this:
      Level 8: 6.13 - Dark Ash Gold Blonde (1/4) and 9.13 - Very Light Ash Gold Blonde (3/4)
      Mixed with L'Oréal Professionnel DIACTIVATEUR 15 Vol (4.5%)
      Use a colour corrector to make it cooler.
      If you look at my profile picture on the left here, it's the middle colour of my hair, the transition between brown to blonde.
      Hope that helps x

    My hair used to be like an ashy dark brown and then I dyed it, didn't like it, stripped it. It went like orange brown and so I dyed it again and most the dye colour has stayed. But my roots r growing out and I want to just get my hair normal again... It's so close to the roots... But like more of a .. Light.. Brown.. Orange kinda... If I used purple shampoo do u think it could blend with the roots? Plz help me need advice x

      Hi sorry for the late reply. If your roots are darker it might not work so well. Maybe you can just dye your roots to blend in with the rest?

    I know its two years later. But girl not just asian hair turns orange. Im white and a little bit of spanish. And I went to a professional the first time and they turned it orange.. And they toned it but it still obviously wasn't what I wanted. I know it was going to take a couple sessions to get the blonde I wanted. So after getting it done the first time by a professional. I let it heal. And got all the deep conditions and resstoring hair shampoo , and hair masks. And gave my hair a month before I wanited to bleach it again. Well that whole month I spent watching tutorials, so I finally took it upon myself to do mine not my roots. And I did it today and I'm still not the blinde I want but I'm about two shades lighter I'm just trying not to ruin my hair. And when I did it myself it turned orange as well before I toned it.

    Hello 👋🏽 I’m kind of at a dead end with my hair and it’s still not what I want. It’s a orange copper color now. I was wondering if you knew whether or not i should dye my hair again. I think at this point I need to put a L’Oréal blonde semi permanent dye over orrrr should I d a t18 wella with Wella 50 additive and 20 vol developer??? already did three bleaching sessions. I can send u a pic to see it.

      Why do people think they can do this in one day, or one session, as a hairstylist this makes me so angry. Even if they tone it it doesn’t mean that’s it’s going to take the orange away completely, especially if it’s just not lifted enough. It also depends on what’s been in your hair before, completely virgin hair lifts better and SOMETIMES can be lifted to platinum in one sitting, but that also depends on hair texture and natural color (as black or dark brown is much harder to work with)
      It also depends on what color has been in the hair before, (some high fashion Colors, although done professionally stay in your hair forever and will never fully fade or lighten, typically like red sometimes blues even) and if box dye has been used and that hair hasn’t grown out and been cut off there is also no hope for that, because there are metallic salts in the dye that alter hair permanently, these often can’t even be lifted to a lighter color than this typical orange, many stylists will actually say no unless the client is willing to cut all their hair off.
      When people don’t like their hair after one sitting then dye it back themselves, you’re just making your hair more challenging to work with and more delicate to work with, and making the process of going lighter longer and longer.

    Well done. That was an Awesome 1st video. Thanks for making it. Your hair is beautiful. What color is on the top of your Ombre'. I noticed you are putting the milkshake color on it a little too are you doing that just to help add in some more ash color to the top? I do plan to do my hair in the lighter milkshake color but would love to do a demi permanent darker on top like yours to keep it from being a boring single color.

    • @5footCloset
      @5footCloset  7 років тому +1

      +Bren Ten thanks so much for your message and sorry for my late reply. Top of ombré I mixed 6.13 and 9.13 to get it lighter. I added the milkshake a bit higher up so it blends well with the darker colour and it won't make my hair lighter at all. Hope that helps xxx
