Would be an interesting video, we take other non standard 4wd vehicles off road on another channel. I thought about how the sealion would go on the sand, needs a tad bit more clearance though I’d say at least 200mm I believe standard they are sub 170mm clearance - but you never know I might decide one day.
Well actually its on the correct side, it means driver has steering wheel volume and passenger has their own too - its not a bad 'overlook' if that is the reason.
I most certinly will. I have the strips now, havent applied them yet, trying to work out who told me about it to begin with so I get it right haha. The wind noise really does cheapen the car feel! Quietish to 70km then you hear it, what an overlook by BYD!
Excellent realistic info on the SL6 for the everyday user, well done! Other tests have noted poor handling and braking of the Sealion. Appreciate any thoughts in this regard, cheers! Q: Can the SL6 feed back into the shed battery at night time?
Yes SL could feedback at 10a @ 230v if I wanted I could connect the victron inverter charger and set to 9-10a and draw. There would be inefficiency but doable. Braking has been great, comparing to a 2022 Toyota 4WD and a 2021 Skoda Superb Sportsline and 2020 Audi RS3 this car brakes just as as good if not better. Handling is 7.5/10 from me, but the let down of that is the suspension response, fine for a road car, if you enjoy spirited driving you’ll need to do something about that. Almost as if the spring rate is too soft for Australian roads but otherwise road car value 10/10 for what you get and the handling issue isn’t a deal breaker really under 80km/hr.
It feels okay, I mean I think the most feeling of 'fast' is initially the 0-50km range. 1.9s to get to 50km/hr is all you really need with the roads we have here. Getting into traffic and up to 60-70km/h within a few seconds is good enough to get around if you drive that way. I think its good enough, but I do feel like the the only EV mode been around 140kw total is a tad slow for me, but its certinly not a deal breaker.
Thank you for your reply. Actually, I'm expecting my premium BYD next month in Morocco, on the other side of the world. BYD really wants to spread this model globally. I'm watching all the owner videos to get a real sense of the vehicle. I hope it will be a reliable car and that we won't need the warranty too much :) @@AllTerrainActionEV
@@AllTerrainActionEV I saw you complaining about chanching climate control when in carplay... I saw a video of a guy swiping with 3 fingers up&down left&right when in android auto to change climate settings... give it a try!
I'm intrigued - is launch control that significant in the 0-100 race? Watching other car reviewers when they did 0-100 (prior to launch of the Launch Control feature) were doing around the 7-8 second mark.
@@TheMusaiz333 other reviewers must be 2wd version. Launch mode definitely feels like there’s more elastic take off (push back into the seat) than naturally going from brake to accelerator pedal - so something going on, but we can’t trust the clusters 0-100km time as it may not be accurate.
HEV Mode, change to Sports Mode, in your dash options switch to track window. Left foot on brake, right foot all the way down - release brake pedal and it will go. Launch mode will say ready showing that screen you can see in the video.
Are there ev motor sounds in cabin at all? I have mine, but i think for an EV i hear alot of motor noise when i start and at some point it blends into road noise.
Unsure, I havent tried in the sense I dont want to risk some type of overload - although the hoist only requires 2.2kw it has a inrush load of around 6kw for a breif 500ms and most inverters even 4kw cant run the hoist due to the inrush load. I have been looking at getting a soft starter for my offgrid setup so I can run it off my Victron Charger/Inverter as its only a 3kva which migh then allow me to on my existing setup.
Great video. Love the local content. Yep this is the new standard for hybrids!
Thanks for the walk through your set up. Unreal.
Cheers!
This what I'm waiting for.
Thank you for videos. It would be great if one day you can give an overview of BYD Sealion 6 driving on sand beach and off road.

You probably find the reason for the volume button being on the passenger side is because it wasn't changed for right hand drive

@@AllTerrainActionEV Just Seal u phev. Same set of options. Comes with Michelin e-primacy tires. It cost around 42 000 usd here.

You can slightly hear it at take off, but as you said once you get to a speed road noise takes over really.
Yes, slow speed you can hear it accelerating or decelerating, later it's more of the bad road noise staple of Australian roads
How to turn off rear seatbelt alarm?
Don’t know that you can, I assume it’s going off when you have bags on there?

The air leak maybe you should get it fixed
Yup we did eventually, screw sadly probably in the gravel at work. Still going strong now!
How much does or cost to set up a victron blue power solar?
Many variables to consider unfortunately would have to be more specific.
