    As of 12-30-2018 it appears as though the only retailer selling the Canon Rebel T7 in the United States is Canon themselves, it is available through their online store. It will be interesting to see when it becomes available at other retailers; of course we will give it a test when it is available. ;-)

    Live view does work on D3500 - not sure why it didn't work for you! Also, snapbridge has been flawless. Camera turned off and sitting in the closet at a lower level and I can still invoke bluetooth connection and view as well as download pictures to my phone in 2 MP or original resolution. I believe the "original" resolution is still downsampled, as the pics don't look as crisp as in camera, but this is just a first-hand use and i will dig deeper into it.

    I prefer the Nikon D3500 over the Nikon D3400 because the grip is more substantial, which should not only help with handling
    overall, but also when using longer and/or heavier lenses.

    So how can i change the ISO on d3500? Only in menu/settings? I am new in photography and this is my first camera ever and i am sad bout the fn button. I dont want to go to menu all the time to set my ISO...

      You can also select ISO from the "i" menu by pressing the "i" button. It isn't as fast as the fn button shortcut but it saves you from having to go into the main menu.

    Thank you so much for the comparison, but it would be better if it was 200d (SL2) against d3400-3500. The main rule - stop buying your camera update a little better by 1 level. Start spending money on bright optics, a separate light or a gpu like the RTX2070 or your life after all. Well, not at all on this ordinary camera of the same level 1.5 years after buying a new one. Spectators Understand at last a simple thing that the d750 or d610 is not worth some huge money. The fact is that creating unjustified comfort in work your brain stops training to solve new problems, as a result you are an helpless old man through the years. You are thinking about these new gadgets and technologies, and maybe the diversity, speed and efficiency of work in the end is important.

      Thanks! For all my current videos I use either the Sony A7RIII or A6500. This video was filmed with both... all shots of me are the A7RIII and the closeup shots of the cameras are done with the A6500. There actually isn't a lot of post production done; I usually don't color grade my videos. It's just a matter of putting all the clips and other content together in Adobe Premiere CC. Check out this video to see how sound is handled.

    So I’m an amateur when it comes to photography but I do like taking photos. I got my first DSLR camera a few years ago, my parents gave it to me for Christmas. It was a red D3400 camera and I loved it. This past December in 2023 someone in maintenance used a key to get into my apartment and stole it. I have recently bought what I thought the same camera package my parents did where it came with a couple of lenses. However, it just arrived literally yesterday after waiting 3 weeks and instead it’s a black D3500. I plan to call this vender, I bought it on Amazon where they advertised the Red D3400. I’m trying to decide if I should keep this one or not. I really loved the red color on the D3400 though and that’s what I’m struggling with but also if this camera is worth keeping. After watching this video I’m not sure. I liked the FN button on the 3400 and I’m not sure I like that the 3500 doesn’t have that quick feature. Idk I’m really torn, can someone please give me some professional opinions about if the 3500 is better than the 3400?

    • @JeremySmithPhotography
      @JeremySmithPhotography  4 місяці тому +1

      Image quality is similar between the two but overall I likes the images from the D3500.
      At this point in 2024 I don't recommend buying either of these cameras unless cost is a concern. All camera manufacturers have transitioned towards mirrorless, both of these cameras have been replaced by the Z30/Z50 range. If you plan to take advantage of additional lenses in the future your selection will be far more limited with the older DSLR systems. Outside of the Nikon Z30/Z50 I would also take a look at something like the Canon R10 or R50.

    You didnt say that d3400 has 12m range flash, d3500 has 7m range flash....

    • @JeremySmithPhotography
      @JeremySmithPhotography  5 років тому +2

      Actually all the data I have shows that the D3400 and D3500 both have the same flash output (7m @ 100 ISO). It was the D3300 that had a more powerful flash (12m @ 100 ISO). This is why we saw the battery life increase dramatically when Nikon went from the D3200 to the D3300... the new less powerful flash doesn't use as much energy. Either way it doesn't really matter much though, built in flashes are good for general fill but if you want better flash performance it's better to get a separate flash. There is a reason why higher-end cameras don't have a built in flash at all... Something like a Nikon SB-700 or Phottix Mitros + would be an excellent choice for a separate flash.

    This is such a big downgrade! You can clearly see, that they wanted to cut Costs and bring profitability up. I think the new d3500 is way cheaper to produce. What I immediately recognized:
    - Buttons only on the backside of the camera --> much cheaper internal wireing!
    - lower power Flash --> cheaper
    - Body feels like cheaper plastic
    - no sensor cleaning --> cheaper
    - monitor on the left and About 3mm behind the front glass --> cheaper
    - no ir-sensor --> nor internal wiring needed --> cheaper
    That is such a Major downgrade! Buy a used d3300 or d3400, safe some Money and have more Features and a more grown up camera...

      Diyan M I always use aperture priority to see how the camera handles auto exposure. The D3400 consistently exposes brighter than the D3500. If you look at D3400 reviews you will consistently see complaints about it’s tendency to overexpose. This is important on this range of camera since most folks will use it in an auto exposure mode. Shooting in full manual and changing shutter speed defeats the purpose of my test.
