The Megger insulation tester is a small, portable instrument that gives you a direct reading of insulation resistance in ohms or megohms. For good insulation, the resistance usually reads in the megohm range.
What is a good Megger test result?
Anything reading between 2 megohms and 1000 megohms is usually considered a good reading, unless other problems have been noted. Anything less than 2 megohms indicates an insulation problem.
What is difference between Megger test and insulation resistance test?
An insulation tester performs the basic measuring function a megohmmeter does-measuring very high resistance values by sending a high voltage signal into the object being tested-and it often does much more; it usually performs more functions, including more complex testing and recording of measurements.
What is the difference between megger and ohmmeter?
Impedence of insulation is very high. A megger is specifically designed to accurately measure high impedences. An ordinary multimeter is designed to measure lower, more finite impedences. Therefore a megger is more accurate for the application.
