What I find crazy is that we have information so accurate now that we are able to see simple treelines captured when before it was always a major town. Even more crazy is the average person can get a hold of this information as well.

I think we are seeing the tipping point where Russia reached the critical mass that the overstretched Ukie lines just can't hold anymore and which will push through by sheer overwhelming force and weight.

They just walked in? I would have thought that there would be fortifications everywhere, heavily mined fields, etc. It almost looks like the Ukrainian side was waiting the Russians with cookies and tea.

ukraine is running out of everything. Their big massively fortified positions, like Avdiivka, are those that were built already from 2014 or 2015 and then continually added to up until recently.
It's a BIG difference trying to build something from zero, while under fire, while supplies and equipment needed are getting destroyed enroute or while at the worksites, or doesn't even exist...
Corruption has also gone nuts. We've heard just in the last month at least 3 accounts of ukraine troops going to a place where there's supposed to be brand new fortifications built and they find maybe a single trench or a few dozen foxholes, a single wall and moat or a single bunker(instead of dozens)...

No they had the peace treaty that they wanted one month after war. Turkey helped negotiate treaty with Russia & Ukraine diplomats. Unfortunately Boris Johnson and Victoria Nuland convinced Zelensky to chose war...Russia in good faith had withdrawn troops from Kiev. Ukraine was dirty and treacherous for rejection of peace.

How are equipment losses looking. Lines on maps mean one thing. But at what cost?
Russian losses during the advance west of Avdiivka, decreased...
That's about as much as we know yet.
But there's no sign of Russia taking heavy losses. There was one column of vehicles that got hit bad, but that was a platoon with some tanks attached if i got the correct information, meaning that it's lowlevel tactical losses only.
And we have seen a lot of Russian strikes against ukraine equipment in the last week, so they definitely are taking a lot of casualties.
But we wont know anything for real until another week or two at the minimum.
Wars are won by the ones who can replace lost equipment and boots on the ground faster , and the fact that Russia is taking losses does not mean the war is not going in their favour and Ukraine is not winning because they are retreating and saving equipment and lives.War is brutal you must loose equipment and lives to win the war.The soviets lost 27 million people during WW2 but does not mean they lost the war as compared to Nazi Germany loses.

Russia today has taken around 42 thousand KIA.
Ukraine has taken at least 900 thousand KIA, possibly as much as 1.7 million.
And another 2-3 million of WIA.
The last 2-4 months, Ukraine isn't retreating, they're routing.
Ukraine leadership just tries to pretend after the fact that no, really, they gave the orders to run away before the troops did it, honest gov!
Even if Russia loses 100 tanks a month they'd still be making equipment at a surplus level higher than all NATO countries combined and as we know Ukraine produces no equipment for itself but some drone assembly and low yield of armored cars.

Yup.
And Russia isn't losing anywhere near that much.
It's impossible to find reliable information due to all the contamination from false western propaganda claims, but my personal estimate is that Russia is losing around 15-30 tanks per month, and roughly a similar or somewhat higher amount of missionkilled(ie, crew and tank not permanently harmed, but no longer capable of performing its mission when damaged).
