@@ian85reillyno they were. prisoners were given freedom when they completed 6 month contracts with Wagner and it looks like a good deal. Early days of the war was fought almost entirely by Wagner fighters. And it appears a majority of them made it back! Wagner and Russian military support detatchments consisted of only 190k troops vs Ukraines 600k regulars. Still the Russians defeated OG Ukrainian army despite being outnumbered 3 to 1! All the forces fighting on ukraines side(outside the nazi and mercenaries battalions) is an all new army!
But why he captured civilians to be Soldier by force if he had 880 k reserve soldiers? 😢😊

Russia's mistake has been to treat this conflict strictly as a "special military operation" to secure the Donbas and now to create a cordon around Belgorod. They have never allowed themselves to think in broader terms aimed at the total defeat of the Kiev regime. I believe there would have been less casualties and risks if they had gone for the throat of their enemy from the beginning.

Russian Northern troops advanced rapidly into the center of Volchansk, a town in Kharkov region flattening Ukrainian front. Ukrainian units withdrew when Russian troops entered and did not give enemy reinforcements a chance. Russian defenders penetrated Ukrainian fortifications including the main one at Volchansk. - Military Tube Today
The Russians did enter eastern Chasiv Yar & cleared buildings, but yes Ukrainian forces did counter with many fpv drone strikes & as can be seen both sides suffered heavy losses. But nevertheless the Russians will come again & force Ukraine to fall back & retreat from Chasiv Yar!!.

The battle of Chasiv Yar started right after the fall of Bakhmut ! The Russians initially attacked in the direction of Klishchiivka which is on the same ridge line as Chasiv Yar. Due to its elevation Chasiv Yar has a strategic value as the key of the last defence line in the Donbass, Konstaninovka Kramatorsk and Slaviansk...That's why the Ukrainians sent their best units there to slow down the Russians who carried on applying their attrition tactics. The huge losses of the Ukrainian army have as consequences a lack of well trained reserves and the new frontline in Kharkov is overstretching the Ukrainian troops.
