This was really good. One point I think you missed was the reason for European's trying to reach India and China. You get into Columbus's personal reasons but not the west's reason. The reason the Portuguese and other merchant sailors from Venice and Genoa were trying to reach India and China was that the Ottomans had cut Europe off from the silk road. When Constantinople was captured the Ottomans prevented European ships from sailing up the Bosphorus and into the black sea. This economic warfare drove Europeans to try different routes to India and China. Most tried to go around Africa. Columbus went west.

My is serving his mission in the eastern Caribbean right now. He served for a long period in Dominica. This was one of the islands with some of the most brutal natives and it took a very long time for the Europeans to truly colonize them.
Dominica is also the island where they filmed much the second Pirates of the Caribbean movies, ironically many scenes with the cannibals in the beginning.

As a history teacher, I have found that students have greatly misled about who Columbus was. I really appreciate this breakdown about the real Christopher Columbus.

The Comparison to Joseph Smith and Mormonism is Strong.

On October 12, 2024 geneticists in Spain reported that Columbus remains showed he had Y chromosome and Mitochondrial DNA markers for people of Jewish ancestry, indicating his ancestors were Sephardic Jews originating in Spain and Portugal. He was thus a converso, like many of the Spanish who colonized the Americas.

They haven't published anything, no peer review, and Columbus' remains are so severely deteriorated that the DNA is practically unusable. It's all speculation.

Would you like to know why we don't celebrate Jaredite Day? Because it is fictional.

What will certainly *never* get a celebration is your piss-poor videography, Richard.

@@sdfotodude Richard, the Book of Mormon exists. How was it created, taking into account all the evidence?

Another unilateral assertion by an "expert" troll in ancient maritime archeology. Ours is a faith baised religion, and so is your belief in a science that contains unchanging "facts" and "evidence". Have a blessed night my friend, there's more noble things to fight against ❤
