You absolutely can chop this stem, a did this for much smaller anthuriums and it worked fine:)

Genuinely curious, why do you rinse your pon? Everything I've read from lechuza, and the folks I watch on YT say not to rinse. Something about rinsing away some of the fertilizer. Just wondering if ive been doing it wrong by not rinsing 🤔 Its a lil different than LECA, where you HAVE to rinse, is what I'm told..
Also would like to mention that your plants are beautiful, obviously you're doing something right!!❤

Hi, good question! So the reason I rinse it is because there is so much dust in it that will settle at the bottom of your pot and choke out your roots over time. The fertilizer in lechuza pon is slow release and it’s the little orange balls, not the dust that rinses off.
Additionally, the fertilizer in lechuza pon is not really robust enough to satisfy aroids so I always use additional nutrients so to me it doesn’t really matter if some of the fertilizer rinses off. Avoiding the roots getting choked out and rotting provides a much better outcome in my experience. Same thing with perlite. The dust settles at the bottom of the pot and can compact your soil and kill your roots. Hope that helps! There are a few other shorts that show me repotting things where that happened or the bottom of the pot was full of gunk.

@@PlantFriendDownTheStreet oh goodness!!! Thank you so much for responding, and for not getting upset that I even asked 🤦🏽‍♀️ Some folks just get so easily offended these days. Your response makes sense! I have several corms ready to be repotted, I think im going to rinse one and leave the other as is, so I can see the difference! I think that'd be an awesome learning experience. I appreciate all of the helpful info!!!

We had a good run but I got a new job and it’s just way too much work to try and do both these days. I keep saying I’ll try and post shorts but even that is hard these days. I hope your collection does amazing!
