- Week 10 brings back a burn modifier, hooray! It's arc burn though. Boo. Let's take a look at how to deal with the shank and solo the nightfall.

As we approach what is probably the end of destiny as we know it, I've been enjoying binging all of these really old videos.
I have an amazing spot, about 1,000,000x better than that garbage under the platform (up high near where you enter), where you can shoot everything, and the only things that can effectively shoot back are the Reaver Vandals. The boss barely peaks his head out, and you can wail on him with P&T, and when he's low enough, can just pull out your HMG and hold the trigger down until he's dead.
I also did this solo In unison with Datto, and finished about 30sec before he even did. :]

Ramon Vazquez I'll try to explain, but I give terrible descriptions.
So, you're at the entrance. you know that stone wall with an invisible Barrier towards the top of it? Yeah, well there's a small ledge overlooking the entrance there, that's just low enough to stand on. across from that, are two ledges at a similar height. The problem, though, is that it's across the way, and the normal entrance down into the boss room is below you. To jump to the ledge across from you, you have to jump off, and with a slight delay, double jump/glide/lift over to the small ledge. From there, you're safe to shoot the boss and all the ads freely.
I hope my explanation was at least sub-par and manageable. If this was helpful, tell your friends and get the word out so that we can all be more effective and stop using the less-effective traditional spots. :)
Note to all players: remember, you can always sit underneath the platform :) I was doing the weekly heroic and the other two guys showed me how to do it. Works great, it works just like the stairs in the Cerberus Vae III strike (the one with Valus Ta'aurc).
Buy a weapon synthesis or two so you don't run out of ammo, and then simply spam the arc damage :)
How do you go under the platform?
jump on the rocks underneath it, and there is a small opening you can crouch through. After that walk into the opposite corner and hop into the ditch. YoYoYo :)
I also suggest bringing a synthesis or two with you.
If yoh spend ALL of your ammo just wait 1 min and you'll get it back WHITOUT using synteshis
I had a friend with 2 other guys get shot by a drop shit while they was under the platform and all die due to it I don't understand how it happened but it did lol

Killing the boss before the ship comes out would be preferable but if you do not have Arc weapons I guess that could pose a problem.

id recommend going up to the ketch, even hobgoblins dont shoot at you, its like a party game, shoot the targets^^ after you get the main baddies, use your primary so you get secondary ammo back, leave 1 alive, get ammo, the go back and kill for the next wave
I've done the Nightfall about four to five times today. That's life when you have three characters and you wanna help a friend or two :D
Vision of Confluence is also great for this strike, since the solar takes the Shanks shields down very quickly.
On my first try I got one-shotted by stealth vandal. Darn it! Funny, I tried before I watched the vid, got killed, so I decided to watch and see what tips Datto had, and he literally did the exact same thing as me.
DattoDoesDestiny I would like to heavily thank you for this guide, I have finally completed it Solo and got rewarded the MIDA MULTI-TOOL Exotic scout rifle. This is the first Nightfall Strike I've done and im very happy that I've subscribed to you so keep up the awesome work xD
I usually go with VoC (for shield killing), P&T and Zombie Apocalypse. ZA is a BEAST of a machine gun.

When I saw the burn modifier the first thing that popped in my mind ,"Devil You Know, Patience and Time, and Zombie Apocalypse" for the weapons, and then you had the same setup!

after I soloed this on my sunbro I was given an AR that is crap compared to the other version of it I have.
I did your trick at the end, but i learned there is a ledge to the left you can jump onto and keep shooting them from with out a large worry of being shot at yourself.

BTW, I solo'd the weekly heroic on lvl 28 last night, and the Priest DOES teleport BEHIND you into the nook where you were hanging out. He did this several times, and I was in the same spot doing the same stuff as you in this video (this is my default strategy for this). The only way I could beat it (because he was teleporting behind me constantly) was to use the platform underside, which I had never used before last night.

Used praeydths timepiece maxed out, patients and time and the fwc arc launcher both not maxed. Easy peasy. Actually helped out tons of people just cause it was a fun nightfall.

It's the only way I've beaten it solo , never used the under the platform method.
If you get killed in the after screen you still win , no worries.
As long as the timer has started and the big guy is dead you're golden.

I love this! Thanks bungie.... so for doing this really annoying nightfall I was rewarded one... just one legendary heavy weapon engram... which turned into a shit trash rocket launcher, then I go and do the weekly heroic and I am rewarded four blue engrams all trash... then I do the daily mission and get lord high fixer.... I mean, really?! really bungie? that is a great system you have there.... ive yet to get an exotic off the nightfall since week 1 and I have never gotten anything worth while from a blue engram even though they patched it to make blues have a better rate of being legendary, still all crap.
6 strange coins from the nightfall, 8 time atheon on hard and no mythoclast, still need the boots after 20 plus raids, legendary engram turns into Plan C (which I already have), have 2 Gjallahorns and theres no trade system, saw 2 exotics go to people who didn't contribute in vanguard tiger strikes in the same day. Boo hoo.
Not crying just sharing my luck today. It was funny that I got shit loot from hard tasks and good loot for nothing special

i jumped on to the little ledge on the left right above where the boss was being stun locked, only really have to worry about the vandals sniping you.
Great video as usual but it's so much easier if you use the cheese spot in the boss fight
He usually tries to not use cheese spots on these.
I did this solo as well and was rewared just a legendary engram for primary :( but when i turn it in i got the mida multi tool! (Exotic scout rifle). And as for the dying while waiting for the reward screen, it is safe. Once u beat the boss it is no longer a darkness zone and u can respawn after 3 seconds
Two of my characters got damn ascendant shards. Rawr! Damnit lol.
Haven't done it with third yet.
For everyone complaining about the stuff they got this week, you should be grateful. I got only 9 Ascendent Shards that I will use up for two upgrade slots. #feelmypain

I got 6 strange coins with my hunter, 2 shards with my titan and with my warlock I got sunbreakers... yeah.. sunbreakers. no one has those......

I got the mask of the third man on first try but second was suros regime and third was the sun breakers (different strikes)
Man I would love to land one of the exotic hand cannons. Preparing myself for more strange coins tho....
I would love if you posted a video on how you level your weapons so fast! I have yet to see a weapon if yours not maxed, and you have a lot of weapons

Good stuff as always! I also appreciate the fact that you don't use the elemental primaries. Speaking of, is raiding the only way to get the elemental primaries? Or are they random drops as well?
There is universal remote but that is a shotgun.
that place that you fought the boss at you can jump up onto the cliff and you are in almost perfect safety and you can snipe the boss in the head this is the meathod me and my friends found out last time this was the nightfall and the method i used to soloo this one (make sure you get plenty of amo synths)

AT 21:25 after mission, you can die. My team died the second I killed him. We were ok. I got MIDA Multi tool. Friend got voidfang vestments (but he's a hunter). DO NOT GO UNDER THE PORCH THOUGH. SHANKS WILL WRECK YOU

I've been trying the regular heroic of this. I get him to about half by running a circular pattern through the little caves. The stealth guys always manage to get me though. Hopefully your spot might help me finish this.
I got 2 lengendary engams from it, one for gaulets and heavy weapon, the basturd gave me bloody updrade materials.
If you get killed at mission end you're just able to respawn as you're no longer in a darkness zone.

If the whole fireteam goes down during the 30 second end timer, the timer continues to count down and the mission finishes.

lvl 28 weekly heroic becomes harder without the arc damage mod and at lvl 25 it takes a fuck ton of sniper headshots to kill the boss. i completely emptied out all three weapons numerous times. i took so long the game gave me ammo 3 times.

This was one of the easiest, just took a little more time. Vision's Confluence, P&T, and some dead orbit Arc MG is what I ran

I used Vision of Confluence, Ice Breaker and The Swarm (Arc damage MG) Worked out great. Only got 8 ascendant energy from doing the NF, though. :c

GamerNamedGlowz Strange coins are better. Atleast you can get good gear with them. I already had 100+ ascendant energy from before, sooo...fuck my life. xD

I got the MIDA multi tool this week
I have only ever completed a nightfall twice. And both times i got universal remote. I barely play pvp and never use shotguns or fusion rifles... plz help
this one is simply the easiest nightfall I've done lets just say that the fully upgraded icebreaker was my best friend

I did this using fatebringer 3 times in a row solo and didn't die once...

Does running it solo increase the chance of getting an exotic? I never got an exotic from the nighfall in a fireteam and when I see you running it solo you get an exotic
i believe the hiding under the platform cheese spot is being patched out in the next patch

I just realized he looks like a robotic version of the bunny suit from Donny Darko.
Is a rocket launcher Ok in this. I know he relies a lot on the hmg to get him out of situations but I don't have an arc one.

Should I go bladedancer on this one, and which grenade should I use? Also is it better for me to buy an Epitaph arc sniper without any upgrades, or should I stick with my 267 arc damage Wizard 77?
Yup you should, either Arcbolt or Flux is good, and just go with the Wizard, it should carry you pretty nicely through it.
Best to get the sniper for pve
LOL you should be safe to die in the after mission. When the count down timer is up the mission is officially over.
