Hi was looking to do this but can't find shore 45 on Amazon, ebay has shore 38 and shore 69 and shore 85.
Which of these would you recommend?
Many thanks looking forward to trying this.
45 Grey is back as of Feb. 17th, 2023.
Crazy how these are all a recommended buy together on Amazon because of this video lmao
Thank you very very much!! It's insane that they aren't sold like this, what a mod!!
Fitted the mod today and I'm very impressed with the feel which is much closer to a real life car brake. Great stuff man.
This mod is amazing. Within minutes, I've adapted to it and am braking far more accurately. And like you said, it's feeling far more realistic. Thank you for this, it is incredible!
Ordered the parts and installed it today. Had some testing and settled with a red spring and a couple of rubber pieces for now. Whats nice is that you have so much pieces to experiment with, it's impossible for someone not to find a setup that works for them.
Thanks for this video!
And now i can buy this pedal set!! Thanks for this awesome mod!
I just did this mod after seeing this video. It's absolutely amazing. Very close to the real thing. Stunning. Thank you for the opportunity. Happy driving. Peace.
Ordered all the parts this week and set it up today and oh my what a difference this has made exactly the type of pedal feel i was after and its not taken long at all to adjust to it 👌🏻 amazing mod
Cheers for this. I am budget racing until summer when i can replace all equipment for higher end items so these mods are a god send
I received mine today, feeling is so good right now, thank you from France
Thanks so much, I am doing this mod now. You are one of the most resourceful sim racers ive seen. nice work!
Very cool. Good to know that I can try this as well. Was able to find some skateboard bushings in my country surprisingly but if I have an issue with my current brake configuration I’m going to try this
I had to order the rubber spacers from the UK. I'm from Germany. But it was absolutely worth it. Thank you!
Legit best brake mod for TLCM's hands down! Thanks man!!
Simply amazing!!! I went for same rubber config. feels so much realistic. I was thinking about load cell m,ods when I found your video. Saved me a boatload of money! Now I can go for the inverted pedal mount I was eyeing! Salute!!
Im late to the party so to speak lol. Thank you so much for this. I was struggling with trying to find the best spring combo and just didn't feel comfortable at all with any. This has literally taken tenths if not more off my lap times.
Amazing 👏
Just received the rubber spacer..i don't have the skate bushing but I did a try with two rubber(bigger and medium) and the red spring.. oh man! I can feel the pad on the disk...!! Thx a lot!!!
Blown away by how good this is. If anyone reading this is wondering if it's worth it... It is
Thanks I'm gonna try this! I've been hesitant on doing something I didn't wanna mess them up but the tlcm lacking the progressive feel gets me
Thanks for this video. I just got my T-LCM and I loved everything about them except the hard stop, so I'm definitely going to try this mod.
Glad it was helpful!
Fantastic stuff. I have been contemplating the T-LCMs but have been put off by the stock spring options and the "hard stop" you mention. This video put me over the edge and I ordered up the pedals and the parts for this mod. Can't wait to get them in and try them out.
How did it go?
F1 22/Forza guy from Canada here! Just ordered the parts and I'll return with a review once I'm able to test! Judging by other's feedback, I'm going to be very happy.
just fitted this mod and it is 100% miles better feels like a new set of pedals awsome tip thank you
Awesome, that's great to hear! Thanks for the feedback Baza.👍
Installed this mod it is amazing. Thank you for this.
Just tried it and am happy with the results. Thank you!!
Great to hear!
This worked amazingly well! Now I can trail brake up to the apex without locking up. I just tested a set of Heusinkveld pedals, and I have to say there is little difference in feel between them now. Granted, it's not nearly as cool to look at, but I like to save that kind of money for my REAL performance cars.
Wow, really a great and simple mode . Thanks for the video.
Gonna give this a go looks like it could be what opinions looking for thanks for the video
Thanks so much for this. I have ordered all the parts you described and I’ll let you know how I get on. Excited.
Thanks for this. I used red springs and washers for a while. This feels much better. Saved me from buying a new set of pedals.
Thank you man. You just made me 2 seconds faster by using this mod. .I brake more often but more gently because I am more confident using them.Never had locking my brakes anymore. Thank you for sharing !
That's awesome, glad you're liking the mod. Thanks for the feedback Johan.
After using Apex and Nox3d mods, I can say without the doubt this is the best mod of them all. It is so realistic, it helped me shaved 1-2 seconds on most Gr.1-3 cars.
However I am not using the top purple bushing, but 4 black rubber and 1 purple at the bottom.
A combo with Nox3d is also good, if you like a more softer travel of the pedal.
I ordered these spacers for the Fanatec CSL load cell brake pedal. With some trial and error I settled on a stack that works fantastic. The rebound is great and dampened like a real brake pedal. Not a snap back spring sensation. Hard pedal but able to actuate the pressure for great modulation. The only call out is the spindle on the FANATEC brake spacer stack is wider than the hole in this spacer kit. Little bit of grease and lube they slide on no problem and it creates a nice tight feel. Great buy in my opinion.
Work brilliantly, got the exact same bushings here in Belgium and it's a big improvement to my old thrustmaster pedals and at the fraction of the price for premium stuff! Thanks!!
Hey Herrie. Just assembled it. 2 biggest and 1 middle height blacks combined with the purple ones?
@@Gepeperde i've got 2 middle size and 1 large one on mine, but you can play around a little with those
this is awesome . i chose a slightly diff. config with only 1 sk8 bushing but feels great
I just got my rubber washers in that I ordered a month ago so I was finally able to try this out. WOW 😯 I went straight to an online race in ACC to give it a try. My fastest lap on the Nurburgring was a 1:56.7…my third lap of qualifying was a 1:55.5, and I was consistently in the 1:55 to 1:56 in the race. I’m blown away by how good this mod feels. Can’t wait to see what else you have in store for us
Awesome stuff Chad, that's great to hear. I do have some interesting gadgetry lined up, but that will have to wait until after the CSL DD and T248 reviews.
Thanks for this video! I just did this mod today and it feels amazing! What i like about it most is the fact that the pedal now has a progressive stiffness to it and it makes braking way more comfortable (at least in socks) and also more predictable. Super cheap but very very effective, thank you once again lad! Happy racing
I can't find any 25mm 6m washers for cheap. I can only find 18mm. Do you know if 18mm would work or would I need 25mm? Or, hypothetically using an M8 washer at 24mm?
@Mr Cael i think using 18mm will work so long as the hole in the middle is still 6m. 8m will do the trick so long as the rubber spacers are 6m. Ideally you dont want much wiggle room within the setup, but if all youve got is 6m 18mm, id try that out. I think it should work just fine. You could also use the washers that came with the pedals
Recently installed this mod after watching your video. Such a huge improvement for a relatively cheap DIY job. Thank you :)
Glad it helped!
@@SimRacingCorner what are the skate bushings for? Cant they be replaced with the black rubber pieces?
Amazing and fun mod! Thanks
Subscribed! .....I am waiting for Staples to deliver my T-LCM pedals in early January.. Will definitely try this mod if I decide to keep the pedals... Hard to find extra soft 72a skateboard bushings, but looks like Amazon has 78a available.
I just ordered the parts after I got the T-LCMs last week. I'm already in love with the pedals but I'm looking forward to try this.
@Wotch I put three of the Shore 45 bearings at the bottom plus the black spring that comes with the Pedals. This way there is a slight resistance at 75% breaking wich feels good to me.
Ended up using only one skateboard bushing and 4 elastomers. Feels great!
I've just ordered the parts. Very curious to try this. Thx
Ok, so I bought it.
I got rubber spacers with a strength of A45 and A38. First I tried the A45 with a red Spring that comes with the T-LCM, but I use so much braking force that I still had a very significant bump once the spring was fully compressed. With the A45 and A38 in combination it feels awesome, I'm even considering buying some harder once A55 or harder to limit the travel, but for now I'm pretty happy.
Thank you, that video was really helpful, my lap times in ACC are about 0.2 sec faster, I never thought that 20€ make such a difference.
Parts ordered, just been ona friends fanatec v3's which felt so much better then my tclm's. I added some rubber washers in the springs which felt a bit better. After seeing your mod i reckon its perfect for what im after. Fingers crossed it works for me when the parts arrived. Thanks for the great video
Any update?
@@Recoil_Dave Been running it for two days now. Feels better, feel its hard to review as it just feels right so you dont really notice it (if that makes sense). I recommend doing it its better then any of the stock spring setups for sure.
I just did it today and it's just amazing like a real car under 20 euros !! You can feel the braking from 0 to 100 linearly and not with bearings as with springs! Thank you very much Sim Racing Corner !!
Great to hear, and thanks for dropping by with that feedback.
@@SimRacingCorner Now i woul'd like to test the APEX V2R for compare it and i saw that you already review it, what do you thing about it compare to this DIY mod ? I thing it's the same feeling but with a better life span for the APEX no ? Thanks
@@ganjaman67css The ApexVR mod is good, but I do prefer the feel of the DIY mod, it's smoother, and the amount of pedal travel is perfect.
Thanks for the tip! I did a similar mod with only rubber spacers (45 hardness) and 30mm washers, lubed with WD-40, and it has been excellent so far. I have also swapped the clutch spring to the accelerator for more stiffness. Very happy with the pedals now.
Nice. Will put some of my gun oil on the inner tubes too and try that out
what parts do you lube?
the clutch spring will eventually break
BIG THX from germany. I had been experimenting with "door stoppers" etc. ...
but yours is great! nearly perfect for me :))
you should tell thrustmaster. it's a shame that they dont offer anything to improve the braking.
a difference like day and night!
thank you
That's great to hear Miles, it's always good to get feedback on the mod.
Great mod! Highly recommend!
Man, such a great content. I'm living in Brazil, maybe I can find something like these to make my own :D
Thank you for this share! It just made the pedals much more realistic. I was using the red springs and it felt too mushy, not enough control on the progressiveness of the pedal. I don't have a proper rig (Playseat Challenge) so my stiffness cannot be that high but still, the pedals are way more enjoyable now. I tried the setup like you showed it and it seemed a bit too stiff for me but you never know, it's possible that I would change the setup in the future.
I needed a bit of feel to the pedal so I kept a red spring, therefore my setup is:
- Pedal
- Red spring
- Washer,
- Medium rubber piece
- Washer
- Large rubber piece
- Washer
- Hard plastic piece
- Sensor
Thank you again,
Marius
How is you playseat challenge handling this? I am considering getting the pedal angle plate from Lowdown Shifter.
Unbelievable mod that allowed me to shave off almost 2 seconds of my lap times in ACC and my race consistency is all time high. I've tried many combinations, but ultimately went for stack with no skateboard bushings, no washers between the rubber spacers and it feels amazing to me, OEM spring-based stack is not even close. Thank you very much for sharing this mate!
That's awesome to hear your positive results, thanks for the feedback!😺👍
@@unkletee do you use only large rubbers?
@@cocodabricot3251 At the moment I run different stack from what I described in my original comment. I use red factory spring at the bottom, black factory spring at the top and largest grey rubber (ShA 45) between the springs and this turned out to be best stack setup for me.
Ordered the spacers directly from Hawksworth Engineering, they arrived the next day and they are currecntly giving away a complimentary set of shore 38 spacers. If anyone wants the option to fine tune a bit further, get in there quickly (ordered Aug '22).
Oh, and this mod is amazing!
My favourite part is finding the listing for the spacers online now has one that states they are good enough for sim rig Tclm pedals lol
mod is crazy. I used 94A bushings since that is what I had at a local store. I am gonna experiment to see if I can get the load feeling a bit heavier since it is a bit light, but other than that it feels like every % of the pedal is opened up. Never felt more confident going for a trail brake and going down those percent 1 at a time as the car slows. Just insanely well done for how cheap it is.
Thanks for this, it's a great mod and gets rid of that hard stop. I've found that combination of the rubber spacers and then the red spring on top works best for me. Gives just a little more pedal travel which feels right for GT cars.
Thank you for this tip. This is what I settled on.
@Philbmw540 no worries 👍
is there anything inbetween the rubber and red spring ?
@shant sorry I've switched to the Heusinkveld sprint pedals now and can't quite remember. I'm fairly sure that I used the black plastic end caps at each end of the red spring. These centre the spring on the metal rod. It was a great mod, and really improved the feel of the brake pedal. I actually preferred the modded T-LCM brake feel over the Fanatec V3's
So, i just got this.
Best pocket money upgrade in my life!! It feels so good.
But i wonder how long these elastomers last.
thank you for this mod !!
Links in the description. You should be fine with any hardness of skateboard bushing. It's the 45A shore rubber spacers that do the work and matter.
@@SimRacingCorner THANKS !!
Wow, I just order the Rubber Spacers and Skateboard Bushings, but only the Rubber Spacers come to my home today, so I just try it out with all Rubber Spacers without the Skateboard Bushings, and the brakepedal is more easy to control now, specially when you have brake hard and want to drop off your brakes just a tiny bit.
So thanks for this video and a nice mod 👍👍👍
Thanks for the great feedback, it's always good to hear how the mod is working out there in the wild.👍
@@SimRacingCorner The only problem I got with this setup is that the rubber do not goes to the original settings if I run longer stints... There will be a gap on the brake pedal if I play longer stints (1-2 hours)
@iNSTAGiB lol
It's wild to me that the modding never stops. Have a tmx with bearing mod and a wheels swap, put a squash ball under the brake pedal and tuned the pots.
Was hoping spending $230 on some pedals would be good out of the box
For soft pedal try them with black spring. Love it.
Thx Sincerly from German :)
Gave this a try but found that on my GT Omega Art cockpit, there was way too much flex, even on the softest/weakest configuration! Might need to find a remedy though as it did seem to work well otherwise! Great channel btw!
Thanks James. Yeah, you do need a solid pedal deck as you are pushing a lot more force in the brake than the springs. Maybe you stiffen your pedal deck up propping something under the plate.
what I did to my art cocpit is mount 2 aluminum profiles on each side to prevent flex, works like a charm.
i tried this hack for the better part of a month now and thought it deserves a review as the idea really is brilliant. so first of all i'd say the feel of the pedal improves tons with this. foot pressure needed increases, it just feels like a brake, no hard stop and with different spacer hardnesses you can adjust the pedal to your liking. its just overall better in every way. so thank you very much for this. i love how my brake feels and i love how this simply makes the t-lcm a way better pedal set.
anyway, here's how i'd tweak it:
- use spacers with m8 hole size: with the m6 the spacers rub on the center metal rod and thus start to disintegrate right off the bat. the material wears off on the inside and the force needed to compress it gradually decreases. Also it lets the rubber stick on the rod and decreases the expansion rate of the compressed rubber. a bit of rubber-safe lube helps with this though...
- use elastomer spacers instead of simple rubber: yes this will make it a bit more expensive but the rather cheap rubber just tends to lose its strength and structure pretty quickly. mine startet braking on the outer surface after about a week. better quality elastomer spacers will take the compression cycles for longer and stay more compression force compliant.
- center the spacers: use a ring of double-sided tape to stick the spacers (centered) on the m6 washers. this will help against rubbing away material on the inside and helps an even load distribution and therefor improves lifespan and structural integrity of the spacers.
thanks again
cheers
sorry, just read that you already recommended lubing the rod.
Great feedback, thanks Lars.
Which elastomer spacer did you use ? Do you have a link ?
I had this idea too but couldn't find a source for rubber spacers soft enough so ended up making them myself out of old flip flop soles, lol.
Just ordered this mod. Hawkeng are now selling a double set at 45a and 55a shore for only £13 on Amazon.
For grease, i think silicon grease is the way to go for compatibility with rubber and metal, or red rubber grease should also be ok.
Look forward to giving it a go, will have a play to see what feels good. I think I'll try more of the short stack rather than the long ones tho to minimise diagonal shear type deformation.
Also bought both metal and nylon m6x25 washers as well as the skateboard bushings but these are 10mm id so i think I'll only use them if absolutely necessary
Thanks for the review and in effect doing the development on these parts!
Just tried this and similar to others, found this to be insanely stiff even with a full stack of the softer 45a rubbers (no skateboard bush). I could compress the stack maybe 1cm at full braking and was pushing the pedal so hard that the entire T-LCM base was flexing despite mounted rigidly to 4040 profile. I think hawkeng either changed their spec or just have poor quality control (the 45a felt no different to the 55a honestly)
Here is a call out from Hawkins on that shore 45A rubber spacers
Perhaps you could mention on the You tube comments that we will make them available on Amazon US and EU this next week for all the avid sim drivers out there.
Awesome, thanks for passing that along Daniel, I'll keep an eye out for this and will post the Amazon links.
when will the 45a’s be available seems like you’re all out again 😉😊😁
@@arjenkoning2412 I think you should reach out to the manufacturer and ask them. They were very helpful and responsive at the time I approached them directly.
After a year of swapping out split rubber bushes, i've capitulated and gone back to two red springs, now i've gotta retrain myself lol
Awesome!
Thanks David!
Have been using this for around a week now but finding it to be too stiff for my liking even when just using the rubber spacers. Might be because I'm on a playseat challenge though. High force on the pedals causes it to lift. I'm working on a fix for it though.
Today I tried out some different combinations with the mod. The way I've found works best for me is with the red spring.
My current setup from loadcell to pedal is:
Red spring
Red spring connector piece
Large washer
Medium rubber spacer
Large washer
Large rubber spacer
Large washer
Small washer
Small washer
The small washers being the ones which come with the pedals. I've used those to reduce the movement in the brake pedal.
Overall I've very happy with the results. I think once I finish with my mods to the playseat to have the pedals fixed more securely, I'll try out the rubber spacers fully.
Thank you for the video!
Great feedback Raul,. You're going about it the right way and experimenting with different combinations, some setups need to be tweaked differently as it could be the Playseat Challenge that makes it more difficult to run the mod the same way I can.
Rahul, thanks for this suggestion. I did this mod today but didn't like how stiff it was and the little travel it gave me. Using your suggestion, I decided to use the red spring as well and it turned out perfect for my liking.
From pedal to loadcell:
- Red spring
- plastic piece for red spring
- large washer
- medium rubber
- large washer
- large rubber
- large washer
- medium rubber
I am testing now: bushing (78a), big, medium, big, medium rubber (same like on a video) with washers between. I am really impressed. First feeling was like it would be too stiff but when started calibrating with software i saw it;s so linear and juicy. Fantastic mod. I had to buy magnets for paddles, click mod for shifter and rubbers for pedal tlcm :D Now I am done :D. Thanks, it's really cheap and fantastic mod. Feels much better than original springs and I don't even have a rig...
How is the gear holding up with the mods? Your setup sounds similar to what I've recently ordered.
@@andrewborody I am not sure if I understood. Everything is fine. Works great. After buying some kind of stand for my pedals ive changed my mod to be exacly like on a video. Braking is very precise. I love that. No reason to change pedals for me. I set braking force as 82. Ive got full thrustmaster gear. TS-PC, T-LCM and shifter which is shitty without good click mod.
@@tomaszbilski5820 Yes, I have Next Level Racing GT Tack cockpit, Thrustmaster gear with tclm pedals. I bought everything for this break mod. I was just wondering about the durability of it. Also bought TH8A and I'm waiting for the Clix GT V2 mod to arrive.
@@andrewborody I think we have to change "rubbers" after maybe few months. Temperature would be a factor here as well. In Poland in my house it was really hot this summer and I had a feeling they are softer. But its not a big thing. I use the same for 3-4 months now. Would say just to check sometimes if everything is ok with them. Click mod is absloutely must have for me. They should add it straight away. Ive never liked this wooden stick in the ground feeling. Now sfihter is a pleasure to use. Bang, bang, bang if you know what I mean :)
last thing. As somebody mentioned... lubricating your pedal mod will give you smooth feeling. Otherwise rubbers can be damaged faster.
All my bits came the other day! (skateboard bushes took longer than I expected from ebay, but the guys from Hawksworth engineering were great, ordered those rubber bushes fairly late in the day, still came next day!)
Definitely feels way closer to an actual car brake pedal without that abrupt stop at the end of the spring compression 👍
Think I'd have liked them just a bit softer, maybe ~30-35 shore hardness at a guess, but that's entirely personal preference.
(or maybe they soften a little bit with use? Looks like your pedal has a bit more travel than mine 🤷♂️)
Still, a great mod I'm 100% glad came up in my notifications! 👍
You could try running 4 rubber spacers and a single skateboard bushing. That will soften up the feel and add a bit more travel.
@@SimRacingCorner I've had exactly the same experience as the guy above ! Love the idea and reckon it would be ideal if the were 30-40 percent softer . Weird as I don't get anywhere near the compression you were getting in the video ! Even ordered a second set as I thought I may have got the wrong ones . . . no , exactly the same . Do you or anyone know if these come in a softer compound ?
Great channel anyway , keep up the good work 👍
@@andyw0340 You could try taking out one of the skateboard bushings and using another rubber washer, or just all rubbers washers. That will be softer.
@@SimRacingCorner Thanks , am trying that now and it is softer for sure , just weird how your spacers seem to have much more flex . . . or are you a secret champion weightlifter !!
@@andyw0340 🤣I do eat a lot of spinach.
The braking feeling is absolutely awesome. I bought everything just like you bought in the video. Unfortunately, after a week almost all rubbers tore I think a more stable material has to be found. but the feeling is mega! feels more hydraulic and not as mechanical as with the springs
I have no explanation for you, three month's on I'm still on my first set of rubbers with this mod.
The hole of the washers should also be smaller, so they don‘t move so much around. Fanatec has a better combination of rod and washers. Maybe you have to drill them by yourself. Nevertheless great setup 👍🏼
So I found a way that works perfectly for me now! I have completely done without the black rubbers, they have all dissolved and have become soft under the load, which in turn made them porous and then tore! So I completely took the skateboard buffers and drilled holes in them (so that they could compress a bit) and hold them and it feels great, I've gotten faster everywhere!
@@andilimits3024 hey man I discovered the soft black rubbers deform quickly. If u check out riptide skateboard bushing they have them as low as 50a duro made from urethane i sleeved the 6mm with a 6 to 9mm copper self lubbing shaft it works perfect and stupidly durable
You guys should probably apply lubricant between the rubbers and washers as compression will cause them to expand radially leading to friction against washers. This might be the cause of accelerated degradation.
Hi, great video & I bought the components. Tried with just the black rubber ones & it reminded me of the first load cell I bought for my old T3PA pedals: very short travel & stiff, good for Formula cars but not great for others where you need more feel as the brake progresses. Tried the skateboard conical additions & for me it was way too stiff, the pedal hardly moved so I had no feel for progression at all, it was stiffer than the red springs & all the washers together so like stamping on concrete, very little feel but a lot of braking when calibrated correctly. I went back to the standard springs & they gave a lot of flexibility & feel. I'm not sold on the elastomer progression thing, especially as I think it only comes to life when you're stamping directly down onto the pedal & exerting a lot of force; my rig has me quite horizontal so I prefer a bit of 'throw', as some like to call it, in the pedal. Great option though, & much cheaper than the heavily priced alternative offerings. Great channel, keep the ideas coming :)
Thanks for the detailed feedback, it's good to know. You're the first one to come back with some results. I suppose these types of mods aren't going to suit everyone. I used to have the Fanatec V3's with the brake performance kit installed, then moved onto Heusinkveld Pro pedals, and then these T-LCM's with this mod. I've always liked the feel of this method of brake resistance.
I would remove the skate bushings and add the red tlcm spring on top of the rubber ones, so you have defo a preload added. See if you like that
Got my parts on order and hope to setup soon!
Now, any chance we could get some alternative solutions for the throttle and clutch? I switched out the springs between the clutch and throttle. Found the stock springs a bit too soft, but find the spring from the clutch a bit too stiff. Would also love to adjust the throw of the throttle to make it shorter.
The is undoubtedly the best diy mod for the t-lcms, far better than nox3d and apexv2r. Now we just need to find a way to get rid of that injected moulding plastic flex.
Be sure to have support under the middle rubber pad and put in the center screw (under the brake bearing). Your flex will be gone. You're welcome :)
Wow, this is a very cheap upgrade. I'll have to give it a go. Will need to figure out how to reinforce my playseat challenge though as currently when using the red springs, it causes the whole rig to lift up. So I imagine it'll be a similar situation with these. Very cool though anyways. Excited to give it a go
Lay a 2x4 down beneath the end of the pedals to tilt them back towards you
@@Torgon8 thanks, I'll give this a try over the weekend
This mod is a simple way to get a nice feeling of progressive stiffness in the brake pedal, something you won't get with the linear stock springs. However the durability of this mod doesn't seem good in my experience. I bought the updated set of black (stiffness A 55, medium soft) and grey (stiffness A 45, soft) bushings, and started with using the softer bushings since I don't like a very stiff brake pedal. But over time the bushings got worn pretty badly. The material sticks to the center shaft which causes high friction, this eats into the center hole of the bushings. As the hole gets larger the bushings start to get "squeezed out" to one side, away from the center, and eventually they start to tear open.
I've since switched to the black bushings which are a bit stiffer and should be considerably more durable. I've gotten used to the feeling of a stiffer pedal but after a while they also started to show tendencies of being squeezed. So before it got too bad, I took them apart, cleaned the shaft from the sticky residue left by the bushings, and put some lithium grease on the shaft before reassembling the bushing stack. However, it didn't take long before the grease was gone and they started to get squeezed again.
I'm a bit late to the game. Installed the mod today and love it. I tried all the different combinations with the original springs and wasn't happy with any of them.
What skateboard bushings did you use?
@@mrcael1887 I did mine with 78a. Works like a charm.
FYI. The manufacturer (Hawkeng) seems to have discontinued the A45 shore hardness from their product line. Now they offer A85 (hard), A69 (medium) and A55 (medium soft).
not only the pedals need to be hard mounted. youe seat too :D i have to use the softest springs atm and then set the brake force to around 70 to be able to brake. i only have a chair with brakes on the wheels and even then i push myself back
A lot of nice squashing mate!😻😁👌
I tried using 🐀's but they never bounce back after squashing!🙁
@@SimRacingCorner Yeah that is a shame..😬😢
How about having sim cat to swap out squashed ones after every squash?😻🍴👌
@@RVRCloset Haha, I'm sure she'd love that.
@@SimRacingCorner Best sim cat job ever!😂
@@RVRCloset I don't think Sim Cat would know how to do it, she would say Me? (H)ow?
I'll get my coat.
Hello and very good, I loved the video. One thing, since you have just watched the video and 2 years have passed, can you update me on what I have to buy, since I see that some things have changed, like the gray tires, etc. I don't know if I need to buy the washers if I already have some that came with the t lcm pedals. If you can give me the links of the updated things I have to buy, it would be great, greetings
Shore 38 red available on DE and UK Amazon. Also if you just need 1/2 of the pack and you are from EU, let me know.
Hi! Fisrt of all, thanks for your knowledge sharing!
As some other guys have mentioned, this is very stiff to me, and besides having the same 45 rubber stifness as you (I have ordered everything you mentioned) , they do not seem to flex like yours... maybe material quality, or maybe not enough gym from my side... 😆
I am only trying with the rubber stuff, without the skate bushings, since they have not yet arrived. But even so... In my case, the skate bushings seems to have been a waste of money.
Maybe I need to get used to more force, because I have just upgraded from t3pa (with canonical mod) to t-lcm. Anyway, I am trying now black spring up, medium rubber on the middle, and red spring down and it feels better then before anyway, and it does eliminates the springs full compression wall!
Just wanted to leave my feedback for someone who likes some brake pedal travel and not THAT much of braking force!
Also, worths to mention that I am using a Playseat Challenge chair.
Thumbs up for you and your video without second thought, great work anyway!
Thanks for the interesting feedback. It could be because your using a Playseat Challenge that you need run the brake a softer than what I can manage. Someone else with a Playset Challenge also said something similar recently. The sim rig setup certainly affects this sort of thing. As you've found, mixing rubber and spring resistance is another viable option. 👍
I ordered the parts a few days ago and have found it super stiff - there is hardly any movement in the pedal once this mod is done. Something must be wrong because in the video you can see the black rubber squashing but the ones I have don’t. They are the exact ones linked in the description.
@@SDK2006b The company does produces these in different shore ratings. I guess it's possible there was a mix up and you were a sent a harder set of washers than 45.
Just ordered. I cheat a little with the hard stop. I set it so hard stop happens at full brake force, that instantly gives me a set braking area and with abs is just dumb for consistency in hard braking corners.
Got the items from Amazon. However, maybe the product changed or something but the washers were slightly smaller diameter than the bumpers. I installed and it worked great but the bumpers wore out really fast because the washers were too small. Had to by larger ones and redo the install with fresh bumpers. Hope they last longer than last ones.
I'll definitely give this a try. My current TLCM setup has another third party break mod installed which I can't get used to.
Which mod are you using?
@@SimRacingCorner I'm using the 3drap.it brake mod. I have tried all three configurations (Street, Racing and Extended). Currently running it in racing mode with one red spring + elastomer.
@@danieldulberg2167 Thanks for that Daniel. That's one mod I haven't had the chance to test out.
@@SimRacingCorner just received an email from the manufacturer of the rubber spacers, saying they are puzzled about the high demand on their shore 45 A product 🤣🤣🤣
@@danieldulberg2167 LOL, I need to buy shares in them.🤑🤑🤑🤑👍
Hi ! Is rubber spacers soft/medium soft/medium/medium hard ? Thanks for this video !
In the first part of the video, you demonstrate one configuration with 1 skateboard bushing and 4 rubber spacers and also another configuration with 2 skateboard bushings and 3 rubber spacers. Could you please explain which configuration you recommend between the two and how you compare them?
I'm having trouble finding 72A conical skateboard bushings with any sort of quick delivery in the US. Do you think it's necessary for them to be conical? Because I'm seeing 72A rollerskate bushings nearby, but they're just uniform round-looking tunnels
Is there any worry that the plastic where the pedal pivot goes through eventually will break due to the extra force?
It is hard to find these washers.. anybody got another purchase link for europe?
Without being able to find the right rubber spacers in the US, looking like I'll have to pony up for the Apex V2 mod for the best outcome?
this mod feels great but I went through a ton of elastomers through normal wear before deciding it wasn't worth it. They eventually split in half.
I can't find any 72a bushings on Amazon, what would be my next best option? I think the 72a are to the softer side if I'm not mistaken.
Great video I wish the rubber washers weren’t out of stock on Amazon US. I can’t find them nowhere in the US.
they are right now!
Hi, which thinkness of rubber spacers did you use?
Recently upgraded from the stock thrustmasters to the t-lcm. But I still suffer from braking consistency although considerably better. Well I’ve just installed this mod so let’s see how I get on. I’ll report back after a decent racing session this evening.
How are things holding up? Are you still using this mod?
@@ThisKory Oh yeah, I never replied to this. Brake mod is outstanding. Now I have got used to the this I am very confident with braking and control of the car.
