Great video, I appreciate taking the time to cover the starting settlements and all the different setups and things to take into consideration. The VP bug is such a game changing error, as this game highlights well. I really hope the developers try to fix that soon.
When grey managed to get the sheep port and upgrade the 5/6/11 early, I thought the game is his to lose.... but he got pretty unlucky with the rolls - 7 doesn't roll much and the robber stayed on the 5 sheep almost the whole game. Plus, his first 2 development cards were VPs instead of others that can help him build momentum.
Yes, exactly. It was a really challenging board. I think I made good decisions. But not getting any knights, somewhat unfortunate rolls and Prinz nearly always keeping one of my sheep blocked took all my chances to win.
Settlement question: What about Aspencer going on the 8 3 wood port and getting her third settlement on the 6 3 (sheep wood)? I guess the problem is that Prinz has amazing expansion opportunities and will eventually be able to get all the good left open spots (such as 6 9 2 and 5 10 2).
I think that's a good analysis. We've touched upon the spot, but I cut it out of the commentary, because it took too long and we went off-topic. You could use it as an extortion spot to get a trade with YoungNaijah.
I was thinking as fourth pick to take 2 5 10 and 3 4 9 with the idea off cutting of red to the 5 8 spot and getting the wood port. Even tho this seems weaker then the sheep port strategy to me, do you think that could work or would it just be to slow to get on those 2 extra spots ?
It has a lot of potential, but also a lot of what if's. You need to win two races. First position may be able to get the road, or steal from you and or get a trade to win the race to the 5/8. And the wood-port race can be lost as well. The strategy is great if both work out, but these players won't allow you to win both races. If someone gets too strong, they get teamed-up on. Otherwise I think the overall production is too low to get much done and I think leaving the double wheat spot for YoungNaijah is also a problem. But if you win both races, then it can work.

Thanks! Yea, I hope so too. I have good expectations for CU 2.0

Yes, exactly! And also the monopolies didn't help him much.

really lucky rolls , both early settlements were kind of free with no trading and losing cards and the ending was out of nowhere predictable
What is the point you're trying to bring across? I can make assumptions, but it can go either way
That's very true Robert. Interesting thoughts!
