Go watch Sergio's video of the race from his POV to see the great run that I didn't put in my video! ua-cam.com/video/YUUXFcwsk4w/v-deo.html
What exhaust is on the si
MAPerformance Street exhaust
@@Camhill182 I have read that the 2020 Si has a shorter gear ratio than the 17 and 18 model year. so maybe the 17 and 18's might pull better in the upper middle to top end? Maybe??
11 years in and those SS 'balts are still kickin ass, impressive!
i kinda want to turbo swap my 07 ss/sc eventually
Nice runs! Sergio’s Cobalt looks nice. Those Factory Cobalt wheels really look nice 👍
Would be curious to see the Cobalt SS vs an Acura TL or a modded Rav4 V6 for kicks.
Well that settled that
Turbo type s would be killer
Evo.X Mitsubishi. Just only my sugestion.
The SS/TC, nice. Very underrated car.
Very much underrated
Bruh is chilling at 15 psi on that Balt and them babies can push so much more stock. Still recommend getting a Z series turbo for quick boost or the 257 for big power. Love the car
Torque junior torque.
Thanks for bringing us yet another vibe 🥂 enjoyed
Just subbed. Don’t really know how Si’s drive since I went straight for the Type R. Hopefully you get a Type R lol. Not much vloggers on UA-cam with Type R’s. Keep up the good work dude!
thanks!
I find it funny how stock vs tuned cobalt is just as fast
Good work and content 👍🏻 really upping the quality of these vids man keep it up!
Im trying, thanks man
Saw your vids popping up on my feed, and got hooked, dope videos man, keep it up!!!
Javier Martinez wow, thats awesome, thanks my dude
@13:39 is he hittin a mini bottle. Lol
I love your videos man I just watched 3 of them. Very nice editing and transitions. I run a couple UA-cam channels and I love watching small channels put all this great work and details Into their videos
Thanks! that means a lot. I see one of your channels is monetized! keep on truckin my man
I am so confused as to why a lot of front wheel drive fans back in 2009 didn’t buy the Chevy Cobalt when it came out...I bought one back in 2011 used at 17,000 miles for $20,000 from the Chevy dealership in East Texas and it was such a fun car and quick and it seemed that not many people bought this car when it was out at the dealerships it’s not like it was expensive so I just didn’t understand and still don’t till this day... and now these cars are still rare and selling but now they have a lot of miles. But it was a good car to buy.
I got a Honda Accord 2.0t 2019 with the 10 speed , that car pulls I could tell you that , I’ve took a infinity g37 easy and I went head too head with a Dodge Charger RT , keep in mind that car has a v8, compared to a four-cylinder lol , accord is definitely a sleeper
yea im gonna race one soon!
I used to own a civic Si, and currently own a 2019 accord sport 2.0T, a 2.0T accord will spank an Si. Not even close to be honest.
Sorry bud you're not going toe to toe with an rt lol a g37 possibly but I have a 2019 3.6 camaro and I've easily beaten 2.0t accords and 2020 Si's. With that being said I can barely keep up with a rt and our cars weigh close to the same and I have more hp
Inland too be fair , me n that RT were doin high rolls, 60 I believe, RT has more of a disadvantage at that speed due too it’s weight but we were head too head lol
@@angelvel323 god dammit you're right ! I got the scat pack and rt confused lol. But okay yeah you actually have a better hp to weight ratio then an rt so by all means I think with some very minor performance upgrades youd be easily beating them
I was looking forward to this video! I haven't watched the whole video but let's hope you can win this time around.
New forged rods (to prevent most common engine malfunction on modded 10th gens, thrown rods) - $750
New clutch (to hold and utilize new whp and wtq) -$450ish? Price without a new flywheel.
PRL Flex Fuel Kit (best bang for buck power and torque gains, also allows engine to run a little cooler) -$450
New tune for FF kit ($???)
Beyond that work on keeping your engine and oil cool, maybe better intercooler, and you already have CAI + exhaust.
Biggest shortcomings on this civic appear to be the piston rods failing around 280 whp (if I remember correctly), and the clutch inability to hold 250+ hp. I've been meaning to start my own vlogging on my own same '20 civic si. These are roughly my game plans for the build. You might want to look into new rods if you want to keep pushing to stay on the safer side of catastrophic engine failure. I think the 10th gen Si can be a relatively stable 300 hp ride for sub 30k including new purchase price.
My $.02, I also enjoy the channel. 👌
Cody Henry hey Cody! Thanks for the detailed comment. Mind if I ask you more questions about upgrading the rods?
@@Camhill182 Sure thing fire away.
Cody Henry so, i plan on stopping here at TSP stage 1 as far as tuning. The amount of full throttling i do, though, it would probably be wise to upgrade the rods just for peace of mind. I was originally planning on the intercooler upgrade being my next mod, since sacramento gets like 105 degrees for a few months straight in the summer. Have you done any of these thibgs to yours yet?
@@Camhill182 I haven't altered anything yet I've just put down my first 1k miles and trying to figure out in what order I'm going to be doing these upgrades (and how I'm going to pay for them!)
Probably KtunerV2->Clutch and Rods->CAI and Flex Fuel ->intercooler->exhaust. A lot of folks seem to swap the piston heads while there down there too, but I probably won't.
If you DO change out your rods it would be super awesome if you could throw up some good photos of your piston heads, cylinder walls etc, for science!
are you going to install the rods and pistons yourself?
I always look forward to see one of your vids bro keep up the good work love to see what you’re doing with the si I’m planning on getting one myself 💯
nice! I hope you get one!
I smoked one of those with my car stock I also erased one of those that was modified in my car was messed up anyway that caused me not to be able to turn my traction control off and my clutch pressure plate was bad so I had to Granny shift it or else it would grind and I still beat him by like six cars
That cobalt tuned is going to make the honda look very bad. Easily 50-60 more hp with a zzp mail order tune and map sensors. Then go to an ethanol mix tune and that lnf will be hitting 350hp to the wheels and over 400lbs of torque. They are quite impressive motors for making power. Its the reliability part that might get ya.
6. oh not to bust your bubble bro but my 9th gen si gapped a tuned cobalt SS off a dig and gave me more of a challenge in the top end but couldn’t beat vtec.. only ever raced 2, later bumped into a Red cobalt SS turbo swapped 320whp for the daily move, end of winter in a red light so I had to.. snow just got down melting so it was chilly. Got him by a car or 2 from 1st all the way till 3 and then he got around me but for a bolt on and tune Civic si I got him good.. and not anybody can run a 320whp car without spinning bad of the line he kept up tho
@@pincheloko1086confused on what bubble youre bursting. All I've stated are the facts. This video provides a very fair comparison of the two vehicles power output. So when the cobalt gets tuned is it not going to make this honda look even worse? Picture a couple bus lengths
They say cars have to be heavy because all of the stafty stuff that has to go into them. But that's not true because you can get a lotus and it's gonna be a safe car and barely any weight add its like owning a mr2. It would be pretty cool to take a 240sx and put a k20a2 in it
I've raced many new civic si's staged or stock in my LSJ ion redline supercharged full bolt ons I'm always winning by atleast 4-5 cars lol 😆😉😅😂.
Sir. For me my sugestion. Its better evo.
Cameron awesome video as always!! I think your Content is amazing!! I look forward to seeing the channel grow bigger and bigger! Those were great races for sure!! I think an RSX build would be cool!! Have a great weekend and I look forward to the next video!! 🚙🚙🚙
Thank you, Shaun. Thank you for the feedback, as always. I'm trying! You have a great weekend, too!
Rumor has it, Honda is going to a .7L with 3 turbos.
I don’t much about cars like everyone else but I still love em
I love them too
Ricky Ov Godz get you know about cars! it’s the best and most fun thing ever 😂
Sold my tuned focus ST because of reliability issues and bought my 10th gen SI knowing it was way slower. So i'm really excited to see your tuned car race an ST
what reliability issues?
Cameron Hill I haven’t had any so far and I got 70000 miles on it
Slower than the st? On my experience I don't think so. I had an 8 gen Si stock and i ran with one focus st i believe she was stock and i beat the hell out of her. Even the guy pulled me over to see if i was stock and i didnt have 3ven an intake or exhaust 🤣.you will enjoy the Xgen
Waldo Navarro I spank si left and right it just needs a driver mod
The ST and Si has the same 0-60 times and quarter mile times. Probably need a driver mod.
Wanted to see the cop catch that BMW
That guy OH SHIT
I owned a 09 cobalt ss before I bought my 2018 si the civic is a nicer car but the cobalt was much more exhilarating and after 7 years of ownership of the ss I sold it for 8500 my hats off to gm better bang for the buck, I really love my si but the ss was built better for performance and a cheaper car
just got rid of my rsx type s
You need to run it with a new GTI or GLI
Enjoying these si vids!
Thanks! More to come
Just want to say thanks for the content ive been watching all your civic si vids cause I was gonna get one but I ended up purchasing a veloster n
Believe you need a dyno tune
I love Cobalts and I have the supercharged one, but damn those simple mods on your si made a difference. Don't get frustrated 😂 it's all about progress. And it's cool that you learn a lot about your car as you go. Don't give up on that SI there's a reason they're popular.
Loving the vids brother I would love to see you do alot of different bolt on's that add more horse power to your honda
Good job, Cam!
U should do a foxbody build!
Id be down for that
No matter what, the Chevrolet Cobalt SS Turbocharged is always my favourite car forever.😍
Had my 09 LNF for only 2 years . . . still the most fun car I have ever driven, with GM Stage 1 and exhaust. Traded it in for a Chevy Cruze because I was an idiot. Ended up on this channel looking to buy a 10th gen civic this weekend and looking for that same kind of fun. Thoughts?
@@nvadorzim9575 In my opinion, you just made a terrific mistake, trading out a underrated sports car that can slaying supercars if modified the right way for a crappy little sedan for practicality only...
Love seeing the cobalt again. Miss my 06 sssc
The reason ya knock control so high is cause ya was racin and revin it up in boosted cars especially on 93 ya have pre ignition (ping) it can blow the engine if the tune doesn’t account for knock
Wow didn’t know the L-series has been around that long. Good engines, although I wish they were at least a 1.8L for the Si.
Yeah it’s about fuel economy now not displacement
Get an MK7 GTI. With only a few bolt-one and e85, you can embarrass a lot of V8 cars. At stage 2 the new GTI’s can push over 320hp on stock turbo.
Buy a boosted B series Honda, you’ll take him out hard in b18c turbo hatch!
shouldve done a 35mph roll.
next race. next one is against a Genesis 2.0T
Good vid, Cameron! Glad to see you're getting faster. The better IC will help with those pulls. ;)
How do you expect to beat somone if your not using your whole RPMs , last time I check your red out lines should be blinking 3 times before sifting and your exuashust should pop after shifting. So stop covering up your speedometer . I have a SI and I can keep up with a STIs, focus STs and g35s
the powerband drops off after 5800 rpm in this car. thats why
@@Camhill182 I'm sorry to hear that , you need to check that out . I didnt start flooring my car till 15kmiles . That might be the issue
edgar solache .. its the way the car is. Have you seen a dyno chart for our cars?
@@Camhill182 I have but I really not been having none of those issues , thank god
Cobalt around 2750 pounds.
Did you ever race with the Phearable 1.5 tune in the 10th gen? Just curious if that would have made a difference...? REALLY wish those si's were faster. I LOVE the way they look!! My Ktuner and tune get here tomorrow! ;-)
Yes I did
@@Camhill182 wait...was that the "rematch" video?? I DID watch that one! For some reason I thought that was with your Type R...my bad!! Gotta keep this sh*t straight!! 😜
yesss bro i had to come straight to the comments when i heard you’re gonna get a type s😏😍
Its happening! Waiting to find the right one
Cameron Hill ya man take your time with that, everyone who owns one uses it for racing so you’d definitely want to get one that’s in great shape. can’t wait for you to get one !!
Nathan Callender i cant wait either! Gonna be a fast and furious build. All out
That cobalt need Stage 1 tune and it will eat that civic.
Mariusz maxankazuya of course
Love the style of your videos keep up the good work👍🏻 also are those Unity Performance side markers? if so i have them for my civic as well haha
Yes they are! And thanks man
You're gonna sell that civic once the ss gets a tune!
And he still gonna keep pulling you Cameron ... hes slow for a cobalt man that thing only making like 280whp. Wait till hes fbo e47. Making 350whp/360wtq. He slaps a bigger turbo on his like mine sheesh. Mine making 456whp/415wtq stock motor. My block getting here soon and head getting ported hoping for 650whp
My dad got me into Honda's and acura's from working at an acura dealership, 1st car was a 89 Integra rs. Now I own a 2007 stock cobalt ss. But anyway been loving your content, keep it 💯
nice! those are cool cars
Steve what I like about cobalts is there so so underrated. If you get the zzp package and a couple of upgrades and a tune you can easily push 300hp..
NICE !.
"with the fucking cows in the back man!" hahaha, love you videos man! keep up the great content just subscribed, I've watched over 15 videos in the last 2 days!
Wow, thanks man!
Why hasn't the Cobalt gotten a tune from ZZP yet? I have a HHR SS with LDK swap, FBO, full suspension , tune, etc and I walk the new Camero SS.
They may have been stock besides exhaust but I walked 2 already so it deff wasn't a fluke.
camAro
@@MeltingRubberZ28 stupid auto correct. Either way LT1, LS1, LS whatever, unless boosted or built they're slow as fuck.
The SS Cobalts are aging nicely! I had one over 11 years ago and I loved it then.
damn in australia we don't get the 2dr Honda Si man there all 4dr.Man i went back and watched your vid with the wrx again and then this one man your a great driver man and the si is pretty quick i think you should keep at it if i could get a coupe si i would lol love the channel man appreciate how you get different angles and really clear wide footage of the runs dude !
Good video!! Yep get the type R! U wont regret it!
Id love to, but it might be better for youtubing if i keep the si
I think there is very good a reason why the Chevy Cobalt SS forced the Dodge Neon out of the market. 😂😭 Back in 2006, the Chevy Cobalt SS, Pontiac G5 GT, Subaru Impreza WRX, Scion tC, Acura RSX Type S, and Honda Civic Si all looked so good.
I absolutely agree
To be honest, I guess 1.5T is not enough for race, there should be engines like Kseries or other (k20,b22,k24)...Honda should give us 2.0 for Si.... P.s dude content awesome as usual keep doing
hey I love your videos, maybe let others drive your car,and test the times against yours.too see if your using the cars full potential.Keep up the good work
At min 7:36 he just died inside, Idk the stages on the si but I did see a video that cat, intercooler and intake on dyno was 240+ whp and that was it for the turbo, it was too small to push more HP, now you just reflash that SS and will still walk away even with all the mods I mention for the SI , still very impressed how much HP out of that small SI motor.
ZZP is awesome!! Had there supercharger pulley and some other stuff for my 1995 Buick riviera 3.8 supercharged
You know cameron...I think honda should have put at least a 2.0liter in the si and then we would see who would be walking who🤔😉 I mean my 9th gen has the awesome k24...and to go from a 2.4L to a 1.5L 😩 (even though it’s turbo) I don’t get
C Stephenson it was about saving money bro!! Same with 9th gen si.. look at the k20z1 stock 210hp then k20z3 197hp!! K24z7 201hp for 2012 and 205hp 13-15.. The thought of k24 or k20 with turbo would of challenged market wise with the Type R!! I give props to Acura for making Jseries tough!!
Its not all about speed my friend
No sport mode on?
Dude, Your car is turning in to a dalmatian lol.
lol what? how so?
@@Camhill182 all of the white dots..... had it pulled up on my 50 inch tv when noticing it... please tell me thats just peddles from a flower.. or bird poo maybe? I cant tell. Honestly, I thought you had a bunch of rock chips at first. 😨
Is the cobalt no lift shifting?
Definitely gonna need to get an intercooler. The knock jumped up because the stock intercooler gets heat soaked very quickly with higher boost levels which causes a hotter intake charge. Which will cause detonation. Detonation is what knock control maintains. It pulls timing to prevent damage to the engine
The Cobalt isn't even tuned yet. A good ZZP tune would push it close to 300hp. if it's a G85 package car even better.
Zzp headers and zzp exhaust better intercooler and a good tune should push it somewhere at 280hp
Over 300whp with just a tune lol.
@@PurpleHeartVR imagine a bigger turbo intercooler injectors etc...I was very skepticals about this cars until I started reading and seeing how people were making easy hp with just bolt ons
@@GerardoGarcia-tb7gi If he gets a down pipe to go with the intake and I/C that he already has, it will put down around 340whp and 380lbft. At that point though you're really pushing the K04 and generating a ton of heat. Better off getting a ZFR turbo and making 400whp or so and be less stressed.
@@WilliamStewart1 I didn't know that. The stock cobalt SS has a K04 turbo?
Cameron hi I'm from Trinidad in the Caribbean and I own the cvt 10th gen civic with the Hondata 6psi tune, what is your thought moving to the Ktuner with TSP stage 1 tune?
I think its a great idea. the TSP S1 tune is much more safe
I have a 2008 ss and it's a decent car sure but the interior is complete ass other than the seats. Your car overall is just built better as well. I guess there are some years between them. hehe.
I’d keep the SI. Just upgrade internals, clutch, and go prl turbo then just go bolt ons and e85 tune. You won’t regret it and you won’t compromise having a nice quality car and still decent on gas while still being reliable. You’ll easily be able to hit 400-450whp with a built motor and upgraded clutch. Stick with the 10 gen.
Listen to this man keep the si bro you can build it to be faster! Dont be so quick to get another car.
Frank Ross exactly. I’d pay it off if he didn’t buy it cash. Then piece by piece start doing what I said above. I’d start with clutch, then go internals, then upgraded turbo, fbo, e85 tune. Then maybe some wheels, brakes, suspension. Year by year just slowly start building it. People are so quick to just give up and want something faster out of the box
@@ZFA1738 the only thing is he got the si to create content and he is scared that it might blow up with all the mods but if he does it right it would work. But he keeps saying "time for another car" so i guess he made up his mind sigh. Bye bye Si you will be missed.
Frank Ross I mean yeah people pushing it past 300whp are blowing up because they constantly beat it up. But with an upgraded turbo I’d trust that motor with 300whp. Then with upgraded internals, intercooler, clutch AND a turbo, I’d trust that engine to go 4-5 hundred to the wheels no problem.
@@ZFA1738 so the 1.5 liter engine can be built to push 4-5 hundred whp and still be a reliable daily driver without any major issue like low mpg
I hope you find a good acura rsx bro let me know how that goes as i want one as well
Both nicee
Especially civic
Intake without a tune? Uh oh....
If u want to get a faster car look into getting Acura tl type s or a 2017 accord touring those are beast cars just on stock, great video man.
Javonie Clarke I agree I had a TL and those things are beasts stock. I had a rare 6 spd MT too miss that car lol
@@r18ch10 yea I kno I had one to a mt pretty hard car to come buy nowadays especially one in almost mint condition.
But I believe the 10 gen is capable of 320 to 360 but not sure what mods you need definitely a cooler and maybe some injectors and e85
People sleep on cobalts i had an lt and could keep up with a dodge charger it was a pretty basic model charger but still them little engines got heart you can gas them all day and it will be just fine
Get that prl intercooler next😎
maybs
You're a good guy Cameron! 😁
thanks Zohan
I know you’ve been having issues with ktuner. But when you were running the basemap 19.5 and 23 psi was the car solid? Or was it acting up even with that tune? Dig your videos man!
The car was okay, but I don't recommend running them. I'll explain why in a video, but heres the thing: If you already spent hundreds of dollars on either the Ktuner or Flashpro unit, whats another $80 for the tune? Everyone who has ktuner should have either MAPerformance or TSP's tune
Cameron Hill thanks for the reply man. I ordered my ktuner from MAPerformance so does that mean I will have the tune or I will still have to buy it? I just want my car to be reliable with rev hang gone and a slight bump in power
It seemed like your problems happened after you installed tsp though
@@logjammer9862 Im not sure if it came with it or not. I assume it would, but it should tell you during purchase if you got the tune with it. If you're just looking for a small power bump, I recommend the TSP S1 tune and just keep it in either the 19 or 21psi modes. Or, you can use the MAPerformance tune because it pushes the car a little less than TSP
Cameron Hill your a good guy man. I appreciate you taking the time and responding. I just subbed and hit the notification button
Great video keep it up. Couple items I want to mention. Weight reduction is huge especially on rotational mass like the wheels. Doing a forged wheel upgrade should shed some weight and act almost like a tune. More power and more responsive. Also the si are still beating the type r in straight line racing. Look at k20z3allmotor aka eman. He does the type r clutch retro fit for the si. His car has insane power. Last knock is not good. Could be cheap gas. Try shell Chevron or 76. Worst case try adding one or two gallons 100+octane and watch the knock. Good luck
What gas are you using? 91? 93? Also what mods did your buddy have? Lol u might had said it but I skipped to the race lol
BO stock tune I believe
I wouldn't sweat it bro you just need some parts. 27won brought out a drop in turbo that will give you more power per PSI becuase it runs a lot more efficient. I seen automatic hatchback civics on E85 beat STI's you have a lot of options
Faster car for sure you never gonna win
2900 lbs*
Bruh sayin he feel his cold air intake tho
Not hatin i liked
what
I feel like part of the issue is that the Si engine is just too small in the first place. I don’t know how confident I would feel pushing a 1.5 liter engine to the max. I’ve never driven Si’s before but I imagine that those previous gen’s may have been a different story with their bigger engines and VTEC. The Si is better suited for a boring guy like me who doesn’t race or mod his cars tbh. I think someone like you might enjoy a more powerful ride. You mentioned the BRZ and as an owner of a WRX, I think you’ll come to love Subies in general.
Ive always adored Subarus, just never pulled the trigger on one. Maybe the next gen STI
Did you switch off tcs completely by using pedal dance?
Noooooo i forgot ☹️
I see your in California, what I definitely suggest from experience is our ECUs are programed to Handel 15% ethanol so the next time you race put no more than 1 gallon of ethanol and the rest 91 gas and your basically running your car on 93 at that point and you will most definitely see a noticeable difference on how much smoother racing around on map 3 is and your car won’t pull as much timing which is what it means when your knock control starts to rise. However only try once in a blue moon because you won’t want to accidentally start going over 15% with out a flex fuel kit and proper tune.
that BMW burnout killed me. no matter what happens from here i will hit like cuz that shit was hilarious.
Thanks, Kris
