You guys need to race when you swap cars to get a better idea of which car is faster. Too many variables with the driver in a manual car so swapping drivers really gives us a good comparison.
Mathew M run what you brung period
Grant a pretty cool dude. Love your vids man, this has to be the friendliest car enthusiast channel on UA-cam
Thanks, im glad you enjoy them
I enjoyed this video! I drive an 18 ST
It really is too bad Ford doesn't sell the Focus ST anymore here in the States. Nice to see a slight tune can keep the Si up with it.
I like the ST but I'm scared to buy a used one and they don't have the tech I want like the Si.
@Throwing rocks It's funny because I wasn't gonna get one but once I found out they would not be selling them in the states I went to the dealership that same week. Im glad I did because they had 4 ST's deals going i guess more people had the same idea lol. But the SI are really nice too especially the type R.
Throwing rocks I got an 17’ st3 with only 13k on it
Is the Ford automatic gear or manual here in the video?
@@ososkic8673 Its a manual Focus ST only comes in manual the way it should be.
Used to own a 19 Si coupe. Always liked the Focus ST. It’s quick, practical, tunable, decent looking, and cheap. Almost bought a 17 with 9000 miles for 18k but I ended up getting a 2020 WRX. Nice video man.
So all in all you chose the heaviest and slowest out of the three? haha. I love them all!
ReallyCoolRC Heaviest, yes, slowest, no. In stock form, out of the three, the WRX is the fastest in both 0-60 and the 1/4 mile.
Man, I appreciate your honesty. I've seen a bunch of other youtubers crap on the focus st when in fact it's a nice car. Especially for what you get in the same price range as a civic si
Reconnecting with an old buddy and putting him in your video...that’s classy👍👊
Not a civic owner but man your channel is underrated bro. Keep it up. Saab 9-3 2.8t owner right here 🙌
Thanks man! That means a lot. Btw, i love those Saabs. Very cool cars
Respect bro, Im here cause last night I spanked an SiCivic, I also think he hit top speed cause the car just stopped suddenly, I hit 145 and was like WOW! could have easily kept going. the ST is FAST, Ive had quite a few sport cars really like it.
Everybody chirps the tires on that 1st to 2nd shift when they start driving the Si. It’s a tall shift and that Rev hang is unreal.
It pulls hard above 4k RPM at 50+ mph or highway speeds. It was keeping up with the ST on the 50 roll which is astounding for what it is.
SDAlexander that’s why you try to eliminate some
By upgrading tires and going with a 245/40r18 over the stock 235/40r18 helps a lot minimizing that chirp and locks the car to the pavement
Why is that astounding? They are both turbo 4 bangers? It’s as even as it gets lol (btw I love both)
@@traxxasrcfunjust because they are 4 bangers doesn't mean they are the same. St has a 2.0 pushing 252hp stock while the civic si is 1.5 and only has 202 hp
@@w0lf9009 and .5 liters can be made up by like 2 psi. When vehicles are boosted there are so many more variables so displacement becomes less important. If they were both NA it’d be astounding
I have a 18 ST and I love the 10th gen si’s. The lower speed rolls is the advantage for the ST due to the torque, but that’s why you were winning the higher rolls!! Nice vid
Also loved how yall changed cars gave it and even playing field. very impressed overall you seem chill.
Was going with the new SI but put a deposit on the new type r instead. Keep the videos coming. This is really good stuff.
Smart move. Well worth it.
You fell in love with a car that is 6 years older then your 2020 SI. Stock SI is 205hp and 197tq.stock ST is 252hp and 270tq. The SI is really light compared to the ST, but you would have to spend some serious coin just to match the ST power but the handling is where the ST really shines.
Sam t hahaha not really!! Fbo and delete boost lag the St wouldn’t even have a chance with the ST...
Awesome video. Whoever owned that TS ST before took great care of it!
I have a FBO 2016 FoST with a 93/E30 tune... if you think a stock 2013 is fast, drive one thats properly tuned and upgraded! Not a rocket but more than enough to have fun! You can eliminate some of that 'loose' feeling in the shifter by upgrading the shift cable bushings for like $30...and shortening the shift (plate/arm/etc) it makes a big difference too!
y'all are very humble, I wish more people were like that! Cant wait to see what y'all do to you cars. Get some races in as you both upgrade... cheers from South Texas!
Good job, Cam! I really enjoyed the positive tone to this video.
I will say your editing has really improved since the start of the SI series keep it up man 👍
Thanks man
Well done dude, and again I guess Si should have 2.0 Engines)...hope Honda is gonna give next gens with 2.0 as option.
Probably not going to happen because a 2.0 would not be in line with keeping this car economical and efficient. Also the price of the car would go up, putting it in a price range out of reach for some. Remember, the ST was in the $30k range new
Yeah 2.0 vtec....👍👍👍👨
Please race a 2020 Elantra GT N Line...I love to race you but with this Coronavirus it would be impossible for us to cross the boarder. Enjoy the channel, great content Cameron
From a 30 roll the ST really shines especially if you start in second gear.
That first gear is shooooort
This is awesome. I got a 2013 st back in November and my brother just picked up a 2018 si! What a coincidence!
Without watching the video, I knew the ST would win.
230hp stock Focus ST vs 220hp tuned Civic SI.
St has 252 hp
You’re forgetting about power-to-weight ratio buddy. I smack these STs all day. White boy needs driver mod
If you are thinking about STs as a project check out a speed3. 1st gens are super sleepers and can be had for a decent price.
I think they’re the fugliest things ive ever seen
Cameron Hill speed 3s are real good looking when you take out the smile grill and put a big front mount in it few bolt ones and you’ll be pulling 350 wheel
Cameron Hill feel the same way about the st lol
Lmao!! Love this guy's reaction when he gets into the Focus.
😎
I love my ST. Handles great for stock, is cheap to make decently quick, and always surprises people. It’s also way sexier than a civic
Interesting how opinions work. I think the design of the ST is super ugly.
@@TheeDevilWearsPrada I agree, I really liked it on paper and it was between the ST, the SI and the WRX. I really didn't like it up close it looks like a mom car
ive been debating on a 17 civic si or a focus st and i think this video just made up my mind for sure...st it is and thats coming from a die hard honda fan i am just not feeling the 1.5t it cost way to much to mod to perform close to the st...love the video!!!
At the end of the day, both are fun daily drivers with over 25mpg. I'm averaging 26.5mpg city/highway combined in my ST
I have a 2013 st there is so many mods its a fun car to build!!
Lmfao, you didn't seem too pleased when he chirped 2nd in your Si.
It would be awesome if you did the races on the track, drag racing is fun, but I feel the Si is designed more for track racing.
the St is made more for the track too, not drags at all. it has brake vectoring, It would be interesting to see them on a track for sure!
Best vid yet! Keep it up 👍
You should try a full bolt on and tune fiesta st :)
Really wanna see the Si go up against the new 1.5 Accord Sport!! (Am from the 209 btw 😎)
Ahmad Jamil also agree with that
It wouldn't be close. Si has more power/tq and weighs much less
Or better yet, against the accord 2.0t sport
@@grampsaggyballs 2.0 sport hear. I ran a modded si the other night. I have ktuner with stage 2.1 tune. Definitely wasnt what I thought it would be.. Kinda disappointed in the 10gen SI. The torque on the 2.0 matched with the 10speed Auto gives the SI little to no chance from a roll. I wasn't even brake boosting. I would love to run another one though just to see if it was just a bad driver.
@@eddiediaz3480 bro the 2.0t comes from the factory with like 250hp and 270tq... The Si has a little 1.5L and makes like 200/190.. And you are running a map on top of that? Bro, you could give a stock Type R a decent race...
I also have a 2020 Si.
Ive done just the catless dp/fp from Megan Racing.
No tune as of yet.
I took on a 3rd gen Ford Focus ST and it was grill to grill until he lifted.
It was from a dead stop at a redlight.
Now if his was a 2.0l or smaller, I dont know, but I didn't expect the Si to perform the way it did against the Focus ST.
Extremely surprised by the outcome without being tuned yet.
Kori Wright That dp/fp upgrade is doing loads for your power my friend. With a good CAI (PRL), and tsp tune, the 1.5 will be screaming!
@@aarong6616 Plans have been made!!!
Hurts my feelings when people don't atleast go fbo with the ST 😭😭
I had both. The ST is just more powerful hands down. Way more tq plus over 300lbs disadvantage. If you get an ST get the recaros. It's well equipped. You can still find some brand new at dealerships. The Si was great and we'll refined. But even with Hondata, it didn't feel close to the turbo on the ST. The ST gives you the old fashion turbo thrust I was looking for that I didn't get in the Si.
What you doing in Vacaville 😂😂
K&N drop in replacement air filter adds 5hp and 5ft/lbs torque dyno proven! Little known secret. Next upgrades AFE intercooler and pipes! Great video keep um coming thanks Cam!
thanks big dad
You should get a front/down pipe. Good performance! with the exhaust and the tune you have
When he like “yeah it just makes “swwshhh swshhh!!” Sound better, I was like.. F E L T 🤝
racing like gentleman. love it dude!
Loved the foxbody shot at the end. Great video!
Thanks man!
Focus ST’s are just monsters.
Have the 18' si, for a few years now and I can tell you you're shifting early , that's why he's taking you so easily. You're barely even touching 5800. I know that's what factory says but there's still some more power in there you're leaving behind.
ill win the next one
Eric Hernandez completely agree, I beat my friends 2018 sti and Si’s are not meant to be on sti level of power. You really have to rev out this motor all the way to get the full potential
Moris modded I guess.
Agreed u have to rev it out. I know dynos show the power curve dropping off at the higher end but it does definitely still have some power at that top end that’s useful
@@salvadorfuentes6922 update, i won my latest race! video up in a couple days
Sweet video man!! Also you live close to me. I’m out here in Santa Rosa about. About 2 hours
PRL Big Turbo Kit and you’ll even be able to beat a stock type r
Funny labor + parts to match TypeR performance puts your SI total cost near or higher than just buying a TypeR.
Just do the math.
In summary just get the typer and save time.
Marbin Diaz or just get a gti
Marbin Diaz you won’t see a type r for less that 35k anytime soon and you’ll be spending way less than a that to beat a type r
If you big turbo the si you can expect to blow your engine.
Michael _ DC4 no you won’t idiot. Look up maperformance they’re making 500 whp on a stock engine and transmission
Yo!! You’re close to me man! I live in San Francisco and I have the same car lmao
My buddy went to basic training with you. Stumbled across your video, and hes like damn that dude looks really familiar. Where you located I wanna race.
thats pretty cool, man. yea, mario told me on Facebook! DM me on instagram @camhill182
I like the civic still. Focus is nice though
Driver mod does a lot I beat my buddys st when I had my 2019 Si bone stock by a bumper lol so driver mod helps
thank you
i feel sorry for him. he SHOULD have won comfortably
davo the great who should have won? The si is lighter and is faster when driven correctly. I beat these STs all day. I’m on stage 2 on e40 now and I beat STs on e30 all day. ✌🏽but stock for stock and si should ALWAYS win. Driver mods does count and this white boy don’t know how to drive his sadly.
@@sipumbs5746 never seen a stock si beat a focus st!! both equal drivers, impossible for the si! si is more like fiesta st class.
davo the great impossible? I’ve done it 4 times with different drivers and beaten all of them buddy. By a fender, I’m not saying a whole ass car or bus so chill out. And a fiesta ST can get gapped any day of the weak stock vs stock
Loved the vibes in this video, you two are such laid back guys it’s dope lol. Here because I’m looking into buying an ST for my first stick shift. You think it’s a good beginners?
You’ll love it
those ford st are hard to find the older ones
Y’all need to race fam , great video we loved it
Those engine the turbo are max out from factory and those eco boost once you tune the engine are time bomb.
I know the Si isn't really that fast, but i love it as my daily driver (coupe). Super fun for a commuter, especially with the fact it is my first brand new car, and with my lame RGB interior mods. One day, with the funds... I'll get my hands on a type-R and mod the shit out of it.
Cobalt vs focus I never raced one while I was stock I wanna see it
Yeah man you need the AWE track exhaust, catless downpipe and remove the cat on exhaust. Loud. Backfires.
I love Focus St as well would be sick to see this as your project car. Love watching your videos keep it up !
he looks like the dude from henry danger
He's gotta have way more than just a basic axle back and drop in filter on that ST. My fbo stg 3 ST can run even with or barely pull on a stock new Si. Heck my 2009 Cobalt SS/TC stock runs as quick as a fbo stg 3 Foc ST and so did my 2005 SRT4 Skittle. Both the SS/TC and SRT4 ran mid 5's to 60 mph and 14 flst @ 102-103 in the 1/4. My Foc ST fbo stg 3 can barely do 5.4 sec 0-60 & 14.2@102 in the 1/4. Now granted both the SS and SRT4 were 2850-2965 lbs vs 3300 is a big difference. They both had bigger turbos from the factory, which is where Ford screwed the ST, to keep it from encroaching on the MS3.
the ST is nice but the Si feels alot more premium imo, its nice and spacious as well
Something just doesn't sound right about that. I have a 2014 focus titanium. It has 262 hp. Why does his st not have more power than that. I was thinking that the st had 300 hp. And the rs had 400 hp.
I got the AWE track exhaust on my b8.5 s4 and it sounds amazing!
You need to get her dial in on the dyno.
Subbed can't wait to see you get a project car! get something with major potential like that cheap type s or miata
Cool, but you need to do this again if you can and let the ST cool down, the heat soak from the stock intercooler is crazy and costs almost 20hp
Never realized how under powered these SI are. Do you mind doing a 0-60 with ktuner 21 psi then doing a tsp stage 1 map 3 0-60.
I agree. I've got a 2018 Si and think they really needed another 25-30 hp/torque out of the factory. On the bright side the gas mileage is incredible.
They could use a bit more power, but you have to remember the Civics are pretty light cars. My non-SI is about 2750 lbs right now. That’s around the same as a BRZ/FRS/T86 while being a much large car. Honda also knows a lot of people are gonna tune their cars and get that extra HP anyways.
@@notsoanonymous2458 The SI is underpowered on purpose. Easy way to upsell for a CTR.
@@Peylix The type R is under powered, too so that doesn't solve anything. The type R loses in the quarter to a lot of other cars in its class or price point.
@@notsoanonymous2458 It doesn't have to be the fastest in it's class to be considered good or more powerful.
The CTR comes with 300hp from factory. That's the standard for hot hatches right now. Unlike VW. Look at the GTI. 220hp. The Golf R comes with 300hp finally, but it wasn't long ago that even the Golf R was under 300hp from factory.
But it's still true. The SI is held back on purpose. Same reason the GTI is held back vs the R, the ST was held back vs the RS.
I personally cannot stand the CTR. I don't like it's design, and it's power delivery leaves much to be desired.
Nice video. I would love to see how this SI stacks up with a stock WRX.
I think wrx would win but you never know 🤷♂️
Martin Tintin not to brag or nothing but my si is on the same tune optimized with upgraded intercooler, intake and I walk all stock wrx. Only time they have a chance with me is from 0. But 30-40-60 rolls i say bye bye. I still trying to get a video of me against my brothers type R here soon.
Martin Tintin definitely some bs lol. WRX’s are lunch for my tsp tuned Si. Ive only been beat by a heavily modded wrx and sti’s. The wrx is a boat. And they only make like 220 to the wheels. They look cool but are not that fast...
@Martin Tintin have a 35th myself but certainly am not worried about running a WRX on the highway. I'd be certainly surprised if it pulls me at all. If it does, once my car is tuned it will be all over
@Martin Tintin u start from a dig or roll? I'd love to run one from 20-120
good vid. I really enjoy my '17 ST.
thanks Jon
Dope video
I bought a 2017 ST last year but man was I torn between that car and some of honda's sexy sporty hatchbacks. I love, love my ST but your si is a beauty. Really wish ford kept the ST line going in the states, it's got a real cult following going.
I really wish they would still sell the STs over here, too. I mightve bought a new one if they sold it here
Great vid! But is noone going to acknowledge the fact that the st is 6-7 years old now (pre facelift 2013-2014)
Per and driver the older ones are faster
@@MeltingRubberZ28 they're the same. The difference is suspension and body, which sacrificed launch suspension for better handling. Roll would be the same
@@trevorbrown7224 look at the times. Older ones trapped 3mph faster
@@MeltingRubberZ28 here's the issue with what you're trying to explain.
2013-03/2014 was the first variant of the ST, using the smallest rotors and most aggressive pads.
03/2014-2014 model year had bigger rotors, less aggressive pads, and different front shock design (mainly top hats).
2015 was a facelift and suspension adjustment, giving a more stable handling over the snap oversteer of old.
2016 dropped Performance Blue for Kona Blue. Vehicle is unchanged.
2017 dropped Tangerine Scream for Triple Yellow. Vehicle is unchanged.
2018 dropped Race Red and Kona Blue for Candy Red(?) and Blue Metallic. Vehicle is unchanged.
Where in any of that do you see the 3mph trap speed and 0.1sec difference specific to the 2016 model year?
@@trevorbrown7224 good call. You can read a spec sheet so you must be the authority. Not like car manufacturers have to abide by emissions laws and change tunes all the time to adhere to them or anything.
Real world testing>your opinion
New GTI my guy! That'd be dope since I'm also planning on trading my Civic for one.
i love my 2019 GTI. have a JB4 piggyback on it and it puts down about 270hp to the wheels and well over 300 torque. hope you like yours!
A gti is basically the same thing as a civic. Atleast power wise. They make almost the the same power they are just a different platform
@@camonstix9410 No. Do yourself some research on the EA888.
That ST isn’t even at its max potential either vs the civic that is at max limit. With a good tune and couple bolt ons on stock turbo can make 350whp
Awesome video bro
Just scene a few of your videos want a 10th gen so bad now hopefully I can get me one soon
As a 2020 SI owner I enjoy your content, but come on bro let’s get some wins already. I recommend going into those races with your most aggressive tune. That Civic can win, let it!
I know. Wins are coming
Intercooler man. Depo racing makes a whole kit with pipes for 400$. Proven to work well on the forums. It would do you good
Yo revisit this st if not for racing for the vibes take him for a rip and if he still has it i want to see it vs the cobra
Wierdly, U remind me of the Paul Walker . Dope vids man
Well get hondata it’s 24 psi which I’m running hondata offers a e85 tune 55 more horse power and those new si motors were built for e85 they love it

I say get an RS instead 👀
Gustavo Contreras their not worth it. Full bolt on is about $2k and you are faster than an RS
Not from a dig. But when I had my RS, I had a few ST’s give me the sauce.
Moldygreenbean oh yeah from a dig. The st is god awful just spins in first, second and sometimes third lmao
Wesley Haws I had a 16 RS. If the ST had the AWD option it would be perfect. But after I saw how much aftermarket support the ST had and the price difference alone I went and traded it for a 16 ST. Now that I’m running the GTX2867 it is such a killer car!
Gustavo Contreras I cant afford an RS
I just drove a Veloster N performance pack with 275 horse. was a blast.
i want to go test drive one
@@Camhill182 Get ready to fall in love. I MAY get one for a daily if I don't grab a Type R.
I would literally go buy one right now if i didnt think i would lose lots of views
Cameron Hill there’s not many Type R channels it seems.
Doesn't even sound like he is driving that Honda right. Idk if it's just sound quality but doesn't sound like you are in the Vtec power band. Hondas can take a beating don't be afraid to redline that amazing car. 😀

nice runs, that focus is slightly faster. maybe intercooler and downpipe can get you a dub.
Good runs. I would love to see how my RSX does against your civic. Im usually a close race with the Focus ST's.
This was awesome 👍
I've got an ST3 and have had multiple SI's. The focus is a better car by far and I'm a Honda fanboy. However I also own a Type R and it way superior than the ST hands down.
The ST engine is different than the 2.0 ecoboost engines ford putting different models.
The ST has a closed deck.
10th gen SI are snacks 😅
Bro needs some mods, mine makes 350ish
My 2014 ford racing blue blue up after I tuned it was a fun ride tho and I had the si too and some old man hit me so rip both of them
Only thing I don't like about the Focus is it's a hatchback..they just don't look all that sporty to me
Bro, my 2020 si has to be faster than that. What psi are you running because my tune is running 24psi
You shoulda race each other at the end when your driving his car ;)
You should race him again with your Phearable Stage 1 Tune
Nice job, but you will need more than TSP'S stage 1 tune to beat an ST. I raced one in my IS350 and it wasn't even close, but that's not really a fair comparison. Anyway, great videos!
Mirz_786 that’s definitely not true. A properly driven TSP tuned Si will pull away pretty strongly from an ST. I believe he’s only using 91 octane also in these vids. This tune is designed for 93
@@scb5027 I don't know, I'm doubtful. I'm not an ST fan, I did own a 2018 Si with TSP stage 1 but never ran 93 because CA only has 91 so it's possible, but I don't know if 93 really makes that much of a difference, but I guess I'll take your word for it
BTW, he was running it on 91 because you can't get 93 in CA without mixing in some E
Mirz_786 I can say in my personal experience here in Canada that when I run 94 octane opposed to 91 there is a substantial difference. Just my experience though, every car runs different. Love those IS350s though
@@scb5027 Thanks! It kind of sucks we can't get higher than 91, but it is what it is
