R.I.P to Bruce M Fischer for those of you who didn't know him too well. He passed back in 2018. Also R.I.P to Fred Ward. All of Clint's films are always the best. Achieved with no CGI. Just makeup, practical effects, underrated actors, camera tricks. They don't make movies like this anymore.
I wouldn't call this movie underrated at all... Maybe for this generation it would be can't see many 20 year olds knowing what this movie even is lol. Maybe the birdman of Alcatraz is more underrated.
@@Doowoo Movie can be good and still be underrated. Compared to The Shawshank's Redemption, this movie is underrated because it doesn't get the same praise.

It's no different from when you'd get suspended for fighting in school, or hell even sport for merely defending yourself during an altercation! Granted you may receive a less severe punishment than the aggressor will, but still though.
When the guard says you are going to D Block, in Alcatraz you know that means solitary confinement. No belongings, no light, and no clothes on. Truly a tough way to do time for the worst troublemakers.
I love that no one has any concern for the guard that looks like he’s just been slashed and possibly dead. Who then just jumps up as if nothing happened after a quick check of his neck.

Went to see this in 1979 with a high school girlfriend, and then in 2015 History Channel presented a docudrama entitled "Alcatraz: Search For Truth", trying to expand on the possibilities of what (might have) happened after the three prisoners escaped.
I spoke to a man in his 70s and he said in real life the guard in the tower would've shot the guy with the weapon dead, no warning shot, especially, after striking a guard.
Excellent Clint Eastwood film. The Morris vs. Wolf is definitely my favorite scene in the movie Escape from Alcatraz. Also, I would recommend the film Panic Room with Jodie Foster if you can upload it, along with the first Triple X movie with Vin Diesel, Little Children with Kate Winslet, Burn After Reading with Frances McDormand, George Clooney, and Brad Pitt, Beowulf (2007) with Ray Winstone, and those two George Clooney flicks (like Ocean's Eleven with Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, and Syriana with Jeffrey Wright and Matt Damon for instance).

100 % unlikely. I come from real wrestling. Wolf in no way uses his HUUUUUUUUUUGE physical advanages like more strength, weight etc. First grab him close and don`t let go. Of course I`m with Clint BUT this is as unrealistic as the shower scene. Clint btw is deeply jealous of us bigger guys. At least back then. I remember the disgusting fight scene with giant Richard Kiel which again was super farfetched. And totally disrespectful. Anyway I even love some of Clint`s movies.
Clint Eastwood is a true movie icon. One of the greatest actors growing up too.

You should check him out in "Deranged" (1974), playing serial killer Ed Gein (albeit under a different character name).
Such a great movie... Had a chance to see alcatraz a couple years ago and the preserved the cell as well .
😊
is this really from 1979, idk, it just looks so good
The older films are much better than the newer ones. No one today can act and they have too many special effects.
Sure is. My personal favorite Clint movie.

Yeah,it gave wolf an excuse to want Morris dead.
What kind of rifle were the guards using back in 1962? Winchester model 70? M1 carbine? M14?
Unfair Morris shoulb be punished for the fight. He only defens himself.😮
