As a fellow Charlottean with friends in Cary, I can say the drive through Ashboro is way more scenic and pretty vs the interstate thru Greensboro. With my old i3 I’d make the stop to recharge in Ashboro but it was painful at only 60 kw. Hope they add a faster charger along that route but fortunately now I have an Ioniq 5 and can actually make it without stopping.
The 64 Route between Apex and Charlotte is a very relaxing and beautiful drive. I used to travel that all the time bringing my son to and from UNC Charlotte. Nice to know you were in the area, might have driven by that meet-up. We noticed a lot of cars one day and wondered what was going on. 😀 We're ID.4 owners. Was kind of neat to see terrain that I personally recognise.
on the one hand, good to know you can pick 150/350 and not change your travel plans too much. on the other, rivian should really fix their curve/thermal mgmt to actually have a difference!
I totally agree with you in that the driver plus should, at minimum be able to use the line markers on the highway even unmapped. Rivian just hired waymo exec and hope he can get up to speed and beef up driver plus with AI.
I have experienced a few times where the charges says "charging error..." yet the station continues to charge. EA has a lot of opportunity with their network.
@@brandenflasch there is a 350kw EA at Sam’s Club in Asheville. The Tesla event would meet in Asheville and drive down to Cherokee, then back. I could make the entire trip from my house on one charge though. Tesla events usually include dinner, so the whole thing lasts a few hours. Might be able to get everyone charged up by hanging out at the event a while.
Gas station charging can be ok, as long as there is enough room at the station so the chargers don't get ICEd. Walmart charging isn't too bad as they typically have other services like fast food at the stations. I think truck stop charging would be even better. But the worst stations that I've been to are the ones at Hotels.
@@brandenflasch I guess it’s just where they can get property to install their stations. But completely useless. And most aren’t accommodating to the Charger users.
Was nice to meet you too! We have the El Cap R1T that was at the meet up. 'Till the next Meet up.
Branden, welcome to RTP/Raleigh.
Soo cool to see so many Rivians together!!

Nice use of drones.

Excellent summary, so disappointed on EA haven’t heard anything good about it.

In this it did stop charging unfortunately
Someone should coordinate a Rivian Blue Ridge Parkway drive. We use to do it annually with Tesla, would be nice to join in with Rivian’s.
Need charging though

Hotel charging is obnoxious. DCFC doesn’t make any sense at hotels.

Any video on any channel and charging infrustructure is always so unreliable. Only Tesla chargers can seemingly be counted on to work error free.
