Thanks Brandon, great post-trip summary. I agree, not bad m/kWh given the average speed in a truck!
Also good reminder to us that for the average to be as high, a good portion had to be at considerably higher speeds (allegedly). 😉
As always, loved most: the scenery, commentary, and info on the charging stations.

glad to see some east coast charging videos. Was just on 95 2 weeks ago. Florence was my least fav stop, glad it was there, but was not liking it. Good to see they removed the ice vehicle blacking the chargers. Smithfield was a great stop, public bathrooms were down the sidewalk and not crowded.

Thank you for this great video.
I would not deduct that much time for city driving and getting to the chargers though. Your average speed (112 km/h / 70 mph) is already close to Björns average speed. Remember that he can go a maximum of 110 km/h (OK, plus VAT 😉) for most of his 1,000 km challenge.

Another great post! You seem to have a lot of charging options. I live in the Washington, DC metro area and I don't think we have this many DC Fast chargers. Plenty of Tesla Superchargers though.

The Carolina’s have a fairly good amount of charging options

Fisker Ocean goes into manufacture in a couple of weeks, would be a great candidate for the 1st ever Ocean 1000km test, see if it can get anywhere near the claimed range and also we won’t get it in Europe for at least another 12 months or longer so good to see its capability.
You do have one disincentive to watch though…………. NC scenery is nowhere near as lovely as Sweden and Norway………. Or even Colorado. Keep up the good work. 1000kms in an F150 Lighting next?

Not sure of the comparison, but the scenery was plenty nice on this trip.

Brandon, I think it was a great effort and considering all the differences you mentioned at the end I think it’s pretty reasonable. However I’m going to guess if you do hear from Bjørn that he might say that you are to do the 90 km/hour and 120 km/h. The test that he does the battery capacity thing that he does and the GPS speedometer correction thing that he does make sure that he’s dialed all that stuff in.

    • @brandenflasch
      @brandenflasch  Рік тому +2

That is fair - 90kmh efficiency test could be doable, but a range test would be unlikely to be doable. 120kmh is essentially between the 70mph and 80mph efficiency tests that I have done. Rivian speedometer is 1mph off so I didn’t think it was a make or break.

How long until Rivian adds a “Carolina Squat” mode? 😂

I really hope they do, even just while parked or low speed 😂 I would love to troll those trucks

      Outlawed but clearly not enforced

If this is going to become a regular test for you, which I hope it does, I’d like to see you get a little more strict with deductions. For example, stay on the highway until the end, even if it’s inconvenient. I also don’t think it’s really fair to deduct time for charging stations not being ideally placed. As for some of the other deductions, those should improve as you get the hang of your route and testing methodology.
Some other feedback - spend less time showing us how bad Rivian is at changing units - maybe just do the math yourself (either multiply or divide by .62 depending on which way you’re converting). Finally, I’d love some info on total kWh added, total cost to charge and cost per mile driven.
    Cheers! 🍻

That is all very reasonable feedback - definitely a few things I would change if I do this regularly, but I think I’ll leave it to Bjorn aside from maybe vehicles not available in Norway / EU.

Hey , thanks for all your content. I’m curious if you also track total charging cost for your trips? Do you have this data for this challenge? Thanks again and I look forward to more videos !

Sure would be nice if EA had plug and charge since EVgo has seemed to figure it out with pretty much any vehicle. Even my 2019 KIA Niro can plug and charge with EVgo.

@@brandenflasch and I saw Blink is also setting it up. You would think if they can get it going that EA would be able to. Heck, just let me use my Pass+ with my Lightning so I can use Plug & Charge. I know that’s more on Ford than EA, but it’s a huge miss.
