Hey welcome to the channel. My name is John aka Brum Reseller heres a link to my other channel Brum Reseller. Follow me on the whole process of becoming a taxi driver
Followed you on Brum reseller for about a year now I can't imagine where you are going to find time to do this as well as all your other stuff but I'm looking forward to following your "journey" finding a car & later maybe all the different folk you carry I can imagine there will be loads of characters ............last cab I used had a screen between him & passengers with a little letterbox gap to pass him the fare which I thought was very safe in this day & age so stay safe mate ps I am old enough to remember the film of your channels name with Robin Askwith, good in it's day
Over from Brum Reseller. Ex-pat Brit, in USA 35 years. Retired, part-time reseller. Spent 7 - 8 years as taxi driver in Phoenix, Arizona. 1. Trust your gut about the fare (passenger) and area picked up from / going to. It could save your life or stop you from being robbed. Doesn't feel right - DONT TAKE THE TRIP!! Make some excuse and *move away from the area* - they WILL call back. I used to carry a concealed loaded .38 special as an emotional support animal, but I appreciate that you can't so your gut feels will have to do - well that and a very heavy spanner in the footwell. 2. How are you getting calls? If despatched, make sure you are respectful and helpful to the Despatchers. Kiss their RCs ! It will pay off in the long run. 3. Obviously have a dash cam that records the interior of the cab, as well as traffic. Especially essential when carrying ladies or unaccompanied kids. 4. Carry a car vac, wipes, rags, disinfectant, air freshener and a few trash bags. People puke, pee. Pets same. Have a clear policy about pets, leashes. 5. Know the airport and train stations, very, very well. Airport trips are usually good. Don't let the p bottle you always carry in the boot spill over their luggage! 6. Remember to turn the meter on when you set off. 7. Jack it in when you're too tired to be safe. 8. Remember to turn the meter on when you set off. And to log back into available just as passenger is exiting - time is money! 9. Did I mention, remember to turn the meter on when you set off? 10. Buy a decent used CLEAN infant / toddler car seat to keep in the boot and be able to set it up properly and quickly. 11. Make sure your doors lock easily, and you can lock them instantly and instinctively in a panic. There's loads more of course. Best of luck. DE
Thanks for the tips ive been in the trade 10 years (in the office) before my time as the Brum Reseller. All our bookings are via the app which takes the fare as well so should be pretty safe but this is the general public we are dealing with so who knows. Ill deffo come back to this comment to make sure im prepared.
I’m applying in Ireland now. I used the FreeNow site. I studied for 3 weeks 2-4 hours a day. Passed my Industry and Area test first time last week. I paid for everything and I’m about to hand over all my documents, photos etc to the police for vetting which takes 4-6 weeks.
Wish you all the best on your “journey” - you deserve it to be successful based on the effort you put it. Keep Bluenose Barry away from that steering wheel though.
I'm going to be doing my training to be taxi driver next week with a garenteed job at the end in Australia just trying to find anything to do with taxi driving in English
@@confessionsofataxidriver9682 Hereford my friend. Great life. Loved it. Didnt become one until I'd reached the age of 50 so life had prepared me for it.
Good luck. It would be interesting to do a video comparing get your taxi license with driving for Uber. Would it be easier working for an app like just eat and logging into work when you are not at the record shops?
Good luck, I’ve been a Cabby since 1986 and every council has different rules and regs. It is a lot more involved to get your Hackney License than your private hire with my local council. I’ve always said in my retirement I’m going to write my memoirs and I am calling it confessions of a lady cab driver. But I have to wait for for a few drivers to leave this mortal coil first 😆
All the best geez! I’ll be sure to use ya service when down your way. 💯🤜🏼
Thanks Max

Think Uber eats and Just eat are flooded with drivers but ill think of allsorts of videos to do im sure
Be careful with that one!
I thought you have yo get the license in the city you want to work in ?
No which is why you see Wolverhampton council plated vehicles all over the country except London

Hello Mr Taxi Man, careful now!
Cheers Brian
