I feel very conflicted over the realization that I actually get the meaning of that shirt. On a side note, I have both of these radios, and both out performed my other gmrs radios. And if I had to choose only one, then it would be the Tid H-3.

Thanks for the comparison video. I ordered the 2 pack TDH3 after your previous video on it (my first GMRS radio). Its going to take a month for them to arrive so I have plenty of time to get a permission slip.

lol at the end. I've somehow collected 32 different HT now and these two are definitely standout favorites of mine as well. I put a 5/8 slim duck smiley on my h3 and it's possibly the perfect machine. But the old man in me loves the big buttons and pretty screen on the plus (and 5rm and k5 and 5r max). Picked up a few uv17 pro gps and learned how they work via 20 different youtube vids, definitely a strong contender. Pretty excited to see the newest chinah trends on the way over the last few weeks. Keep it up sir, big fan

A week or so ago I got an H3 to see what all the fuss is about. Great little radio, rapidly became my favorite low cost HT. I use it in ham mode and it is noticeably better than my now several years old UV-5R. Seems to hit a local repeater slightly better, it has air band RX, better display (not hard to beat a UV-5R display though), and is more straightforward to program from the keypad. So easy in fact I haven't bothered connecting it to CHIRP.

You have the best radio UA-cam channel around! Can you do a review of the Anytone 878UV2+ ? I have one and I love it! And I most definitely do not use it on GMRS channels because that would be illegal…

I already have a Bao UV-5R and my dad runs Rugged Radio of similar build (Just not BOOFENG). Both use the same batteries.
Are the UV-5G batteries compatible with 5R's?
I played around with the TD-H3 frequency/tone scanning yesterday and discovered it rarely got the DCS tone correct. I transmitted from two different UV-5R’s, a UV-9R Pro, a BTECH GMRS-50V2, and a BTECH UV-50X2 and it got the DCS tone correct less than 10% of the time. I even tried separating the radios by about 15 feet and with walls between. I use all these radios to hit local repeaters which use split DCS tones and never had an issue getting in, so I think the radios are squirting good tones.
The TD did, however, nail the Tx frequency 100% of the time and accurately detected CTCSS frequency when I randomly tested across the range of those tones.

I like the additional frequencies that the TD can utilize; however, I see myself using these outdoors and it is my understanding the the TD does not claim to resist water. If that is correct, perhaps the Boofung is the better choice for me?
Now i have to get another new tdh3. I like the Uv 21 pro i have, but i think I may need the Tdh 3. Thanks

I seek advice from the master, I received a new uv-5g plus yesterday and I noticed that the frequencies that are being monitored disappear from the screen until they become active, is this not supposed to be similar to the way the first version (uv-5g) works where the back light goes away and I'm still able to see the frequencies monitored, wrote to boefeng and haven't heard back.
