I bought five on your review. and the whole family loves them. Sons are fighter jockey and with the AM band antenna they can hear everything going on at work.
I live near an airport, and I bought one of the bundles with a dedicated air-band antenna. Works at least as well as my other (more expensive) HT that is air band capable. Not sure the antenna makes that much difference. Seems to work equally well with either the air-band or the usual rubber duck antenna. Note, I haven't tried using the air band antenna to TX on any GMRS or ham frequencies.

I got my 2 pack of green after waiting over a month or so. Had my daughter walk to the otherside of the neighborhood and the sound quality is awesome! I had my son and daughter talking on the scramble mode while i listened on another radio and couldnt understand what they were saying, thats cool! Didnt know about normal mode, thats gonna happen. I also didnt know these are boofwang's. At least thats what the manual states. Bitchen little radios, thanks Randy!
Ah yes, a few days after your review I ordered the two-pack. TD shows mine will be delivered June 13-ish; oh well not a big deal. Update, today 2024-05-27, the TD H3 two pack arrived.
An interesting use of the dual PTT buttons would be a "2-stage" transmit function whereby both buttons must be pressed (to avoid accidentally kerchunking when carrying the radio in a pocket, backpack, etc.). Could probably be implemented with a software update. Would be really nice for radios to start featuring PTT button "lockout" in menu options.
Thank you for the update Sir. Much appreciate the roger beep at the end. I think this should be on every video you create and post. I know so many would appreciate it, and appreciate the misery it causes those identified as Some People.. I am going to order one of these radios in the am.
Dude.... You're not right in the head... But funny as hell. Your sarcasm this top notch. I've always enjoyed your videos and always learn something. Thanks for the education.
Please answer my question. How many Repeater channels can you program in a tdh3 radio. I’ve been just adding a bunch of repeater frequencies with different tones; when I got to channel 53, it won’t transmit, just give off a negative beep. I programmed it correctly, it just seems after you reach channel 50 something, it won’t accept any more repeater frequencies!😮
Gotta love it. Thx Bro! Have 2 of them and the H8 an Uv K6 with Egzumer on it. They all do well and are Flexible if you will. Spectrum analyzer is nice on the 6. No BS.
No, because seriously dude, NOBODY cares.. if you are buying a radio based on how many lumens it's tiny excuse for a flashlight puts out, you are buying the wrong thing.
@@Missagan-j3q So for some stupid reason I decided to actually calculate that... 2600mAh, 7.4V = 0.01924kWh (not accounting for efficiency) Which for average (residential) power price in the USA(0.1641USD/kWh) is ~ 0.003USD charge away, 73

Always best presentation! I think i wrote it again, but will repeat it here in your new video. Despite the fact that it can receive RF electricities starting on 18 till 500 mhz, in the range of 27 does not receive any of my phonetics via my cb at a fars of 1 meter or more. In fars less than that, it definitely grabs some of my cb's spurious emmissions.
Couldn't you just start in "normal" mode and program the ham freq's, the GMRS and FRS freq's, and any other freq's and just have a good all around freq radio?
Please tell us again now, what buttons to push to copy-clone one TD3 to another. I saw your older video but couldn’t follow the steps you quickly demonstrated. Thanks.
I found the answer to my above question actually on Amazon, scrolling far down under the product description. Now though when I do the steps, my TD-3 screen says, “error.” Any thoughts on that please?
Great content. My radio came with a "VHF airband outdoor antenna" TD-771 120/300 MHz Antenna that is 15 inches long - would this work well enough for the 2m /146 MHz HAM channels?
Randy, Love your channel! I have a problem with my H-3 Hoping you can help. Im trying to get repeaters to wor. I'm programming on my desktop. What am I doing wron. i go to the channel and put in the correct codes but I can not connect.
it could be a million different things - here are the common things to check: 1) make sure the repeater is actually still online 2) make sure you have the right channel and tones/codes & have CORRECTLY entered them into the radio on the CORRECT channel and in the CORRECT way. 3) make sure you are in range/close enough 4) remove the RECEIVE or RX tone/code - it is optional, and may cause confuckulation 5) there are a bazillion other things it could be, but 1 thru 4 are the most common screwups.
The Rx Hop is basically TIDRadios version of quickly enabling a privacy tone/privacy code without having to manually set a CTCSS or DCS code between H3 handsets. As long as the user(s) enabled Rx Hop on both H3 handsets, you’ll be able to receive each others transmission. I’m not sure why they titled that feature that way because users will think it’s frequency hopping which this HT doesn’t have. Maybe it does hop to different CTCSS or DCS codes automatically between H3 handsets but I’m not sure if there is a way to check.
One thing I don't like about the TD-H3 is that there is no way (that I've found) to do live/interactive DTMF. The keypad is inactive when PTT is on. You can only hit the DTMF button in standby, type in the codes, then hit PTT and let it send them. This doesn't always work for some repeaters and other uses, since the codes might be sent before the receiver is ready or has even opened squelch. Sure, a good receiver will open fast and be able to catch all the codes, but the option to enable transmit, wait a beat or two, then send codes, would be welcome. Of course, predialing the codes can be useful, and many Boofangs (UV-5R and cousins specifically) can't predial, while some other cheapo HTs can do either: most Radtels can, but some Radiodddditttty ones can't predial, probably because they're just modified Boofs.
Sync off, will hide the second channel but you can still Tx if you press the second ptt. You just won’t be able to hear any response. I’ve two of these and tested. D. Wait off will disable duel monitor. Then you’ll need to use the A/B to switch freq/channels to hear but not Tx
I picked up this radio when I watched your first video on it. Its great, does what I need and is easy enough to use and program. However, I was really disappointed to find out, in the field, that the OD master app is basically useless without an internet connection. Correct me if I am wrong, but without network the TD-H3 doesn't even show up in the model list. Even if it had the program and settings button pops up a toast saying "Network connection failed". I get it, it can back up your configs, but it shouldn't need a network connection just to communicate over Bluetooth with the radio.
Just my experience if I use Chitp on Windows 11 the power settings will be low on the TD-H3 regardless of what Chirp shows. On Macbook there is no problems.
