      @@americandream_89 the new redesigned deck 60 is supposed to be better I have the 61. I will say weekly grass I can mow rough ground at 12.5 mph full gps speed comfortable it is like riding a atv. the 930 deere will buck you off the seat and beat you up and I can not mow faster than 8mph. that said the deere out cuts the deere in weedy grass and thick or wet. the deere does better on hills and ditches and better on small properties. the deere is a tank very well engineered and feel it will outlast the ferris but I work on my equipment. the ferris will stripe better on fescue lawn would be the only advantage I would like to have the 7 iron on a ferris but I like the hydros better on the deere also. they are both great mowers and I am rough on my equipment. I've never bent a blade or spindle on the deere the ferris has had 2 blades and spindles bent deere makes good blades and spindles I would say the best in the industry

    The shaft drive to the deck allows for more cutting heights. A belt drive from the engine to the deck can only operate on so much of an angle therefore reducing cutting height.

    I've got an Exmark lazer Z, Gravely 260z and a Super Z Hyperdrive. Hyperdrive by far is the best all around mower. If I were to build the ultimate mower it would be a hyperdrive with an ultracut deck. I think the Exmark barely wins out in cut quality when mowing tall fine fescue, but the hydraulics on the Hyperdrive are just plain awesome!

      Exmark and hustler are 2 of the best. Like you said all grass cuts different. Although in my experience I’ve yet to have a Exmark out cut the hustler’s but my yard is just now getting fine fescue. Thanks for the input

    EXCELLENT details!! Great pros & cons of the different setups! Keep it comin!!
    I’ve had the same issue of deck bounce & re-location of the deck on my Spartan as well. There was a kit available for the older models that supposedly fixed the issue? Mines a 2017 model, & I’ve nvr put the kit on mine to see if it fixed the problem? I’ll save my comments for the Spartan comparison!

I’ve got several guys that have offered there unit for testing but any company that refuses to bring out a unit or have a rep it said to me that company wouldn’t be there for you. I’m still trying to get them out though. I know they make a great mower.

    HUSTLER ALL DAY LONG!

  • @Robert_Mann
    @Robert_Mann Рік тому +2

    Man great overview of these "high-end" (non-diesel) machines! I am partial to the Exmark as I own a 2002 60" Lazer-Z with just under 4,000 hours. It has the 27hp liquid cooled Kawasaki which is a horizontal engine and because of this, they used the mule drive instead of a gearbox like the Turf Tiger. I think back in the day when most Exmarks used the mule drive is when the argument of which was better: "the mule drive or the gearbox" was talked about a lot but now that Exmark has switched to vertical shaft engines in the Lazer that those mule drive vs gearbox arguments are now moot. I think the only other horizontal engine (non-diesel) on a mower is the Bad Boy Renegade. You can see the mule drive in the pics on their website. But for Scag, since the Turf Tiger II follows much of the original design of the Turf Tiger I, I guess it made sense not to change the gearbox design. A lot of people swear by Scag... I just don't have any experience with them. That Hustler Hyperdrive mower sure is nice though!

    • @americandream_89
      @americandream_89  Рік тому +1

      Thanks for the input. I’ve never used one with the mule drive. Do you think it cut better than the new design? 4000 hours on a machine is great that’s something that tells me they make a great mower. I’ve never had one over 1000 before selling. Not because it broke down I just trade and sell 24/7. I hardly ever see a mower liquid cooled any more I wish they still used a cooler.

    • @Robert_Mann
      @Robert_Mann Рік тому +1

      @@americandream_89 I don't think that either the mule drive setup or the gearbox setup cut any better than the new direct vertical shaft designs, but like you pointed out in the video, the fewer pulleys that have to be turned, the more power that can be put to the blades (and hydro system). I do like that most high end mowers (except for Exmark haha) have stayed with the traditional separate hydro pump and motor. The integrated pump and motor units to me at least seem like a "cheapo" mower at a box store. I'm sure those new Exmarks with the integrated Parker drives operate better than my old mower but yea time will tell if they ever get high hours like mine has.
